Bad Cupid
Isao stood in the lobby, waiting. He looked at his phone.
“Lame,” the vocalist said. Why was he even here?
-Three Hours Earlier-
It started with a text. He should've known this was a trick. Raja's
name was the first red flag. Isao frowned at his phone.
“Something wrong?” Gary asked.
“It's him again,” Isao said. He held up his phone. Gary looked at
the screen.
“You going to answer?” he asked.
“No,” his ex said.
“Could be important,” Gary said. Isao frowned at him.
“Come on,” the other man said. His ex rolled his eyes. He took back
the phone and opened the message. Isao had a puzzled look on his
face.
“Huh?” he asked.
“What is it?” Gary asked.
“He's inviting me to lunch today,” Isao said. He showed his ex the
phone. Gary read the screen.
“Meet me down at Keiko's at one. I want to talk about your future,”
he said. He looked up at his ex.
“So?” he asked. Isao narrowed his eyes.
“He's up to something,” he said. Gary shrugged.
“Maybe he just wants to talk,” he said.
“Gary,” the vocalist said. “Come on! You know how he is.”
“Does your mother love him?” Gary asked.
“Hm?” his ex asked.
“Does your mother love him?”
Isao rolled his eyes. “Yes unfortunately.”
“I hate to say this but you have to try and accept it.”
Isao wrinkled his nose. “Why should I?”
“Because your mother loves him.”
“So?”
“Don't you want her to be happy?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“Then you know what you need to do.”
Isao clicked his tongue. He looked at his phone.
-Now-
Isao's phone rang.
“Hello?” he asked.
“Where are you?” Raja asked. The vocalist rolled his eyes.
“I'm here,” he said.
“Where?”
“Waiting area. Where are you?”
“Inside. Come to our table.”
Isao raised his eyebrow. “We?”
“Just come inside.” Raja hung up before Isao could say another
word. The vocalist frowned at his phone.
“Seriously?” he asked. He shook his head. What was that old man up
to?
“I don't like this,” he muttered. “I don't like this one bit.” Isao
had no choice, now did he? He walked up to the hostess. The lady
looked up and blushed.
“Can I help you?” she asked in a rushed voice. Isao didn't even
blink.
“I am joining the Nehru table,” he said. “Can you show me the way?”
The hostess' face turned bright red.
“S-S-Sure! Follow me!” she said. She led him into the restaurant.
Isao followed behind with a dull look on his face. Just another day
for him.

Mai sat at the table looking bored. Raja still grinned. She rolled
her eyes.
“When can we order?” Mai asked. “I'm starving.”
“Not yet,” Raja said. “Just a little bit longer. We have one more
joining us.” Mai snorted.
“Who?” she asked.
“You'll see in a moment,” her uncle said. He finished his water.
Mai sat back and sighed. Could this lunch get any worse?
That's when she saw them. The hostess led Isao over to their table.
The vocalist froze.
“You?!” Isao asked.
“You have got to be kidding me!” she shouted. Raja stood up and
clapped his hands together.
“Wonderful!” he said. “You both are here. Now we can begin.” Isao
and Mai looked at each other confused.
“What?!” they shouted. Everyone in the restaurant stared at them.
Raja grinned the whole time.
