Festival Planning
Summer will be over soon. What better way than to go out with a
bang with a music festival? Who's going to headline? Had to be a
big name. Something new. The organizers had just the names.
Isao and Mai looked shocked.
“What?!” they asked. Their managers sat across from them.
“Yes,” Isao's manager said. “Your bands will headline the Tokyo
Summer Music Festival.”
“Both of us together?” Mai asked.
“Yes,” her manager said. The vocalis struggled for a response. Good
they were headlining the festival. But together?
“We've already booked you,” Isao's manager said. The vocalists
blinked.
“Who else is going to be there?” Mai asked.
“Salt, Devil Train, Dir en Grey, BTS, and Kamy,” her manager said.
Mostly big names. The line-up looked solid. They couldn't back out
now.
Their respective bands took the news better.
“Are you serious?” Subaru asked.
“Yeah,” Mai said. “We're headlining the summer festival.” The girls
cheered. Their vocalist rubbed her forehead.
“But it's with Charm Inu,” she added. Her band got quiet.
“For real?” Kasumi asked.
“Yeah,” Mai said. The girls didn't speak at first.
“Well,” Yoko said. “This could give us more exposure.”
“Yeah, but…” Mai said.
“Babe,” the drummer said. “You cant let him get to you. This is for
us.” The vocalist puffed up her cheeks. She did have a point, but
still…
“Fine,” she said. “Whatever.” Her girls became excited. Mai rolled
her eyes.
Isao's band was just as excited.
“When?” Hideki asked.
“Eight weeks from now,” Isao said. The boys looked at each other.
The vocalist sighed.
“What's wrong?” Tokuma asked. The vocalist lifted his head.
“So is Lady Dragon,” he said. The band went silent.
“You can't be serious,” Katsuya said.
“Yes,” Isao said. He dropped his shoulders. The boys didn't speak
at first.
“Maybe we won't see them that much,” Hideki said. The other two
nodded. Isao made a face at them.
“Yeah, but…” he said. Katsuya patted him on the arm. Isao turned
his head. The guitarist gave him a sympathetic smile.
“Come on, man,” he said. “Don't let them get to you. Think of how
this festival will benefit us.” The vocalist frowned. He had a
point. He sighed and dropped his shoulders.
“Fine, whatever,” he mumbled. The rest of the band looked
overjoyed. Isao sighed and rolled his eyes. Why did it have to be
with her band?
Meanwhile, the festival planners were hard at work. This was going
to be the best festival of their careers. This had to work. What
could possibly go wrong?
Well…
