Hyper Bond Rush
Isao blinked with a confused look on his face.
“I'm sorry, what?” he asked. Kaz had a nervous look on his
face.
“Well… the execs are not really comfortable with the rivalry
between you and Mai,” he admitted.
“What are you saying?” the vocalist asked. “You want me to be
friends with her?”
“Well, not exactly,” his manager said. “Maybe try to be nicer to
her.” Isao frowned.
“You've got to be joking,” he said.
“I'm sorry,” Kaz said. The vocalist groaned and rubbed his
forehead. Why was he even suggesting this?
“I can't believe I'm hearing this,” he said.
“I know this isn't ideal,” Kaz said. “But please! Think of my job!”
Isao rolled his eyes. Of course it came back to his job. Isao put
up his hands.
“Fine,” he said. “I will try.” He gritted his teeth. Kaz quickly
bowed.
“Thank you so much!” he said. Isao rolled his eyes. If he and his
band didn't need this guy…

Being civil is hard. Being civil to someone who was an asshole was
worse. Isao forced himself to smile. Somebody kill me now.
He went out to play the next set. Isao had a show to play after
all. He let the music take over his mind. His fans were all that
mattered. His voice filled the air. Yes! This was it! He threw back
his head and howled. To him, being in the moment was all that
mattered.
After the set, Isao had to come back to reality. That meant
encountering Mai again. Isao frowned.
Right…
--------
Already, this would be a headache. Isao tried to avoid Mai. When he
couldn't, well…
Isao went down to the hotel bar. So far, he hadn't run into Mai
again today. Maybe this could work.
But then she walked into the bar. Oh. Don't look at her. Don't talk
to her. Do that and everything will be fine. Mai sat down at the
bar. Isao tried not to look at her. He counted down in his head.
Okay…
Isao took a small breath. He took a quick glance next to him. Mai
didn't pay him any attention. Good, good. Maybe this wouldn't be so
bad.
“Can I get you anything?” the bartender asked.
“Just some brandy,” Isao said.
“Coming up,” the bartender said. She got right to work. Mai turned
her head. Isao didn't speak.
“Oh, it's you,” she said.
“Hello, Mai,” the male vocalist said. Stay calm. Just get through
this drink and leave. Silence. Oh boy…
“Good show, huh?” Isao asked. Mai just stared at him. That
conversation just died. Okay then.
“Here you are,” the bartender said, handing the male vocalist his
brandy.
“Thank you,” he said. Isao took a drink of his brandy. He took a
breath.
“And what can I get you?” the bartender asked Mai.
“Coffee,” she said.
“Coming up,” the bartender said. Isao looked down at his drink. Be
nice to Mai, huh? Well, he guessed it couldn't hurt. The vocalist
put up his hand.
“Could I have another brandy?” he asked.
“Sure, one second,” the bartender said. She handed Mai her
coffee.
“Thank you,” she said. The female vocalist blew on the coffee
before taking a sip.
“Mmm,” she said. The bartender handed Isao his brandy.
“Here you are,” she said. He nodded and took the glass. This wasn't
so bad. Now to hold out for the rest of the tour. Isao frowned. Oh
boy…
