The Matchmaker
He's here on a mission. The well-dressed man arrived in Sapporo
around eight in the morning. He didn't get here alone. A woman
about twenty stood next to him. She stretched her neck from side to
side.
“Thanks again for this,” the matchmaker said.
“Uh-huh,” the woman said. She was his ticket to get closer to the
targets. They got there just in time too.
“What's the next destination?” he asked. The woman pulled out her
phone.
“Tokyo,” she said.
“Heh,” he said. They would have to go back. He didn't mind it. Raja
was paying him the best after all. He turned to the woman.
“Shall we get going?” he asked. She put away her phone.
“Uh-huh,” she said. The matchmaker perked up.
“Sounds good,” he said. The pair left the bus station.

It was the last day for Sapporo. Mai couldn't wait to leave. She
packed up her things.
“So long!” she shouted at the room. This tour sucked so far. Her
guitarist was in love with the enemy. They were happy too? Mai
gritted her teeth.
This would not do.
But what could she do? Kasumi and Yoko wouldn't let her break them
up.
“Let them be happy,” they told her.
“She needs to focus on the music!” Mai shouted. Yoko shrugged.
“She can do both,” she said. They didn't get it, did they? Mai
wanted to scream.
Meanwhile, Isao took it a little bit better.
“Do you really love her?” he asked.
“Yes,” Katsuya said. The vocalist patted him on the back.
“I'm happy for you,” he said. Katsuya bowed his head.
“Thank you,” he said. Isao didn't agree with the coupling, but it
wasn't his place. As long as Katsuya was happy, it would be fine.
They had other things to worry about.

The matchmaker and the woman sat in the caf. He took out his
notes.
Hishikawa Isao. Age twenty-seven. His last relationship was two
years ago. Sexuality was bisexual. He still lived with his
mother.
The woman looked at the file.
“He's so pretty cute,” she said.
“Uh-huh,” the matchmaker said. He turned the page.
Usami Mai. Age twenty-seven. Never been in a relationship.
Sexuality was straight. She lost her parents when she was young.
Client was her only family.
“She's cute,” the woman said.
“Yeah…” he said. The matchmaker rubbed his forehead. He had his
work cut out for him. Still, a job was a job. The matchmaker would
make this count. The waitress walked over to their table. He
ordered green tea while his companion ordered coffee. It was time
to get to work.
