A single tear runs down his cheek, its trail illuminated by the moonlight shining into the clearing. At his feet sits a puddle of blood and farther into the clearing lay a quickly cooling corpse. His hands are a crimson red, seeming to glow under the pale light. He drops to his knees splashing more blood onto him. Slowly he crawls to the center of the clearing, his once lively lover’s body now lying motionless before him. Blood wouldn’t seem to stop flowing from her pale slender neck, and thirst tugged at his mind, saliva filling his mouth. He swallowed and another tear made its way down his cheek his amber eyes bright and filled with desolation. He genteelly brushed her cheek with the back of his hand and down to her throat…the beautiful throat that he tore from her.
He blinks and believes, for a minute, that he see her, alive and whole. Smiling at him, her cheerful bright smile and her eyes open and sparkling up at him filled with love and happiness…He opens his eyes and the scene changes and he sees her fear and pain filled eyes staring into his soul and he lowered his head to her neck and sunk his elongated canines into her flesh, her screams of pain and terror filled his ears and more tears fell down his face with the memory.
He pressed his lips to her cold unfeeling ones trying to will her back…Desperation filled his dead soul and he lifted her to his chest cradling her against him biting holes into his lips in an attempt not to allow sobs to wrack through him. He shook her, her head flopping back and forth on small pieces of flesh until with a barely audible snap the previously un-torn tendons in her neck broke and her head rolled onto the grass.
He stared in horror, realization dawning in his mind; she wasn’t coming back. He carefully laid her body and placed her head where it ripped; smiling blankly at how it looked like it was attached. He pulled a small knife from the front pocket in his jeans. He stared at it, turning it under the pale replacement for the sun watching as it glints shining small rays of light out into the darkness…Like hope…He sank back to his knees and sat over his love…Silent tears running freely staining the top if his shirt with more liquid. He smiles again and plunges the knife deep into his chest, piercing his heart. As he collapses on top of the corpse before him the knife shoves itself deeper into his heart…
Darkness clouds his vision and his mind settles into a semblance of peace. He knows that he’ll see her soon…A soft smile crosses his features as tears run a river onto her body…The final words she spoke as he walked away, the words that brought him back to his senses and control, echo in his mind as he slowly slips off into death…
I love you…”
