Black Horse
Egor turned to Kisa.
“I thought you said that no one was coming here tonight,” he said.
“I did,” she said. Kisa jumped out of bed and put on a robe.
“Kisa?” Egor asked. She ran out of the room. He got up and ran after her. They made it down to the living room. A man in a long black coat looked up.
“Kisa!” he said. “It's so good to see you again.” He took off his hat. Egor did have to admit that the man had a silver fox look going for him. How do I look that good when I get older?
“What are you doing here?” Kisa asked, keeping her voice steady. The man perked up with a smirk on his face.
“I came to see you,” he said. Kisa's right eye started to twitch.
“Why?” she asked.
“Can't I see my beautiful wife?” the man asked.
Ex-wife,” Kisa corrected him. “You left me, remember?” The man bowed his head.
“I made a mistake,” he said. His ex rolled her eyes.
“Why are you here?” she asked. She put her hands on her hips. The whole time, Egor looked back and forth. What the hell is going on?
The man had a strange look on his face.
“Dear, who's this?” he asked. Kisa grabbed Egor by the arm.
“He's my new boy toy!” she said. The younger man's face turned bright red. Her ex-husband raised his eyebrow.
“Is that right?” he asked.
“Yes!” she said, sticking her nose up in the air. The man looked over at Egor.
“Is this true?” he asked. Kisa looked up at the younger man. Egor cleared his throat.
“Why yes,” he said. The conviction in his voice stunned him for only a moment. The man smiled a cocky smile.
“Heh,” was all he said.
“Why are you here?” Kisa asked. “This is the last time I'm going to ask you.”
“I told you,” the man said. “I am here to see you.” He took off his coat and hung it up. Kisa wrinkled her nose as she sneered. How dare he act like this was still his apartment! The man looked over at her.
“Can I at least have a cup of coffee before I leave?” he asked. Kisa clicked her tongue as she rolled her eyes.

All three of them sat at the kitchen table. Egor and the man were facing each other. Kisa was trying to stay civil.
“How long are you staying here?” she asked. She lifted her chin as she spoke. The man raised his eyebrow.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“How long are you staying in town?” Kisa asked. Her right eye started to twitch as Egor held her hand.
“Calm down,” he whispered. The man took a moment to think.
“I would say a couple of days, maybe,” he said.
“Is that right?” Kisa asked. The anger built up in her voice.
“Listen…” Egor cut in. “Um… Uh…”
“Oh, where are my manners?” the man asked. He held out his hand.
“I'm Liev,” the man said. “Nice to meet you.” Egor raised his eyebrow.
“Egor,” he said. He shook Liev's hand with caution. This was when he had Nikkita and Stefan with him. They would know what to do with him. Suddenly, the phone rang. Kisa rose to her feet.
“I'll get it!” she shouted. Kisa turned and power walked out of the room. The men looked at each other. Liev picked up his coffee mug and took a drink.
“Okay, out with it,” Egor said. “Why are you really here?” The other man set down his mug.
“Isn't it obvious?” Liev asked.
“No,” the younger man said. The other man paused for a moment before leaning in.
“Do you really think that she's going to keep you around?” he asked. Egor blanked for a moment.
“E-Excuse me?” he asked. Liev leaned back with a smirk.
“I'm going to be straight with you, kid,” he said. “You can enjoy my ex while you can. But just know one thing.”
“What?” Egor asked. Liev leaned in close to his ear.
“I will be taking her back,” he said. Egor turned with a cold look in his eyes.
“She doesn't want you here,” he said back. Liev leaned back with his arms folded across his chest.
“I will win her back,” he said. “Looks like you are my rival now.” Egor smirked back at him.
“Yeah, I guess I am,” he said. The air felt like hot static between them.
“May the best man win,” Liev said.
“Heh,” Egor said. Little angry sparks jumped between them. Everything settled down when Kisa walked back into the kitchen.
“Sorry about that,” she said. “I had to convince an old lady that I wasn't her daughter. Did I miss anything?” Liev stood up.
“No,” he said. “I was just leaving. Thank you for the coffee.” Liev bowed his head and walked out of the kitchen. Kisa and Egor didn't move until they heard the front door close.
“That was rather random,” she said. He said nothing. Instead, Egor tightly held her hand.
