Reiku groaned as he gained consciousness. His head throbbed and when he opened his eyes, the little light made his head hurt. He reached up and touched his head. He felt bandage wrapped around his head. With another groan, he sat up and, looking around him, noticed that he was in a large tent. There was a small fire going a few feet away from the entrance that warmed the interior. There were furs laid out and he was laying on some, with one that had covered him as a blanket. He saw his packs lying nearby.
There was a rustle and the flap of the tent entrance opened and someone came in. Reiku couldn't help but stare in amazement. He thought that it was only a story, but living proof was standing right in front of him.
The woman looked at him and frowned. “You shouldn't be up. After a blow like that, especially from a troll, you should rest.”

Suddenly, Reiku remembered what had happened. The trolls! Kiya! He tried to get to his feet and nearly fell over.

The woman shook her head. “Told you,” she muttered.

“I have to find Kiya,” Reiku said, “The trolls took her. I have to get her back.”

The woman nodded. “I know,” she said, “and we'll go after her. But you won't be able to help her with your head like that. They won't kill her. They're using her as a brothel girl for the male trolls.”

Anger filled Reiku at the thought of those filthy trolls touching his lover. “That's even worse,” he snarled, “I'm not leaving her there.”

“We won't,” the woman said. Her white, wolf-like ears on the top of her head twitched. “We'll get her out of there soon enough.”

Reiku gently eased himself next to the fire. “We?” he asked.

The woman nodded. “Yes, I'm going to help you.”

Reiku nodded and then wished he hadn't. He winced in pain as he head started throbbing. The woman frowned and pulled a pack over. She took out a water skin. “Here,” she said, handing it to him, “this will help.”

Reiku took the water skin and took a drink. It was filled with a mint tasting liquid and he could already feel the pain in his head lifting away. “Thank you,” he said. Then he asked, “Are you really a Lupian? One of the legendary Lupian warriors?”

The woman looked at him and smiled. “I'm a half demon. Half demon, half human. But yes, the demon part of me is Lupian.” She touched one of her ears. “A full demon has large ears that this. They also have stripes on the sides of their face that comes from the hair line. And they have longer fingernails.” She showed him fingernails that were as sharp as claws.

Reiku nodded and looked into the fire. “You must know that I'm a werewolf, do you?”

The woman nodded. “Yes, but it doesn't matter.” She threw more wood into the fire. “I'm Keilila by the way,” she said.

“I'm Reiku,” he said, looking at Keilila.

“So why are you traveling with Kiya? Last time I checked, there was still a war between elves and werewolves.”

Reiku nodded and he told Keilila the entire story, starting with the orc attack in Blackwolf. When he was finished, Keilila looked into the fire, lost in thought.

“You two are brave to love each other,” she said, “especially since Kiya is Aubrey's daughter.”

Reiku looked at Keilila nervously. “You're not going to say anything, are you?”

Keilila let out a snort of laughter. “I'm not going to say anything,” she said, “Aubrey is a bastard. He took credit for many of the battles we helped them fight. I won't say anything, except this.” She then leaned forward and looked at him intensely. “I believe you and Kiya are part of a prophecy. I'm part, as well as an anthro kitten, a monk and a dwarf. Something tells me that you are part of the prophecy because of the relationship between you and Kiya.”

Reiku nodded and said, “I know. The Futuresighter back at Riverside had had the same vision one hundred years ago. Kiya told me after we escaped. We are supposed to defeat a great evil and Aubrey's involved. Kiya was to turn her back on Aubrey, and that's happen so far.”

Keilila leaned back and frowned. “I wonder how many other future seers have seen this prophecy.”

Reiku shook his head. “I don't know, but the anthro kitten would be Kiya's friend Mitt. We are meeting her in Anthrowood.”

Keilila nodded. “Then after we save Kiya, Anthrowood is where we must go.”

Reiku nodded and he felt tired. Keilila noticed and said softly, “Get some rest. We'll go find her as soon as you're well.”

Reiku said nothing as he went back over to the bed area. He covered himself with the blanket and closed his eyes. As he drifted off back to sleep, he thought of Kiya. He will save her, and kill any troll that tried to get in his way.

Kiya wrapped her arms around herself and shivered. She hated it here. It was dank, filthy and smelled horrible. She was in a large cage, one of the three that was in a large building that male trolls would come in and look at the woman in the cages. When they saw one they liked, they would pay the troll who stood at the cage and take the girl to their hut. Then when they were done with them, they would bring them back.

Kiya had been rented out several times since she was brought to this hell. She could remember her first night here. When she was dragged to the village, she was taken to the back of the building. There, her clothes were cut away from her body and she was thrown in a cage naked. She still was naked, sitting in a cage. The troll who had captured her said that her having no clothes on allowed the paying trolls get a good look at what they were renting. Kiya had cried that entire night.

She had been here for almost a week now. She was dirty and had dried blood on her when some of the trolls who rented her were rough. She wanted Reiku to find her, but she couldn't help thinking that that blow to the head had been fatal.

A large female troll came to the cage and unlocked the door. Opening it, she said in a gruff voice, “Come on. Wash time.” Kiya and the other woman in the cage with her filed out and followed the troll to a room in the back of the building. There were several tubs and other female trolls. The tubs were filled with warm water. The female trolls had soap, body scrubbing brushes and had their sleeves pushed up.

Kiya got into one of the tubs and she sat there as one troll scrubbed her body with soap. The dirt and blood melted away, leaving her skin cream colored once again. Any other time, Kiya would have enjoyed a warm bath, but she was only getting cleaned to attract more customers. Once she and the others were cleaned, they were led back to the cage. Kiya went back to her place in the corner. Night fell and the males started coming in. Kiya watched them with the corner of her eye, her stomach tightening up every time one came to her cage.

She saw the troll that had captured her come in, Burk. He walked around before coming to her cage. He looked at her and spoke to the troll at the cage, who then came in and tied a leash around her neck. “Enjoy,” the troll told Burk with a grin. Burk nodded and with a tug on the leash, led Kiya off. He led her through the village towards a small hut on the edge.

Burk shoved Kiya in first. She stumbled in and looked around. It was the same as every other house she had been dragged to; a mess with a cot against the wall. Burk closed the door behind him. He grabbed her arm and shoved her on the bed. Taking the leash off, he threw it on the floor. “Let me see if I found well,” he said. He tied her hands up above her head to the bed post, spread her legs apart and tied her feet down. He then ran a hand down her body and smiled. “Yes, this will be good.” He striped down and crawled on top of her. Kiya started to scream as he began to rape her and she didn't stop. She prayed that Reiku was alive and that he would find her soon.

Reiku crouched in the bushes surrounding the troll village. Keilila crouched beside him, her ears twitching. Reiku sniffed the air and he could smell Kiya among everything else. She was in pain. He growled under his breath.

“You go find Kiya,” Keilila whispered, “and I'll make a distraction.”

Reiku nodded and turned into a wolf. With a snarl, he went into the village, keeping to the shadows so he would look like a dog to who ever looked. He followed Kiya's scent, following the scent to a hut and that's when he heard the screaming. KIYA! Her name ripped out of his throat in a growl. He slammed into the door, smashing it open. He went into the hut in a snarling rage.

A troll got off of Kiya, who was tied down to the bed. Reiku recognized the troll standing in front of him naked. It was the same troll who attacked them, the one who took Kiya. Surprise was on the troll's face when Reiku lunged and ripped his throat out. He changed back into human form over the body and wiped a hand across his mouth, smearing off blood. “That's for touching my girl,” he whispered.

“Reiku!” Kiya cried. Reiku turned to her and ripped off her bindings. Kiya threw herself at him as soon as she was free. Reiku held her tightly as she sobbed against his shoulder. He could smell her pain, her fear, but also relief.

“Come on,” he whispered to her, “let's get you out of here.” Reiku lifted up Kiya and carried her out of the hut. When he walked out, he saw that Keilila did a good job creating a distraction. A good part of the village was on fire, as well as the brothel building. He saw naked woman of every race running out of the building and into the forest. He hoped that they were able to escape for good.

Reiku carried Kiya back to the bushes and hid there, waiting for Keilila. He draped his cloak that he left there around Kiya's trembling body and held her close, not wanting to let her go. He buried his face into her hair and began to cry. “I'm so sorry, Kiya,” he sobbed.

“It's not your fault,” Kiya said, “but I'm safe now and that's all that matters.”

They waited there for a while, holding each other tightly. After a long while, Reiku heard a rustling of bushes. He looked up and saw Keilila pushing bushes aside that were in her way. “Go,” she said urgently, “we have to go now.”

Not taking chances, Reiku lifted Kiya up and ran carrying her, Keilila right behind him. They ran until they no longer heard the chaos of the village. They stopped near a small stream to rest. As soon as Reiku let Kiya down, she ran into the water and began furiously scrubbing her body. A thought struck Reiku suddenly and fear filled him. He went over to Keilila, who was cleaning blood off of her sword, and asked, “What if Kiya is pregnant with…” He couldn't finish, but Keilila knew what he meant.

“Don't worry,” she said, sheathing her sword, “the trolls put something in the girls' food and water to prevent that from happening.” Keilila spat on the ground in disgust. “Trolls are the foulest creatures that I know. Treating other females as sex toys, as bloody pets. No girl deserves that.”

Reiku nodded and looked back at Kiya. The girl had finished cleaning and was coming out of the water. As soon as she got out, she dropped to her knees onto the ground. Hugging herself, she began to sob. Reiku hurried to her and, crouching beside her, held her. He comforted her as she let out her grief and Reiku had a feeling that Kiya wasn't going to be the same again.

Aubrey snarled in anger as he read the report. There was no sign of the werewolf or Kiya. It was like they vanished off the face of the earth. The prophecy had indeed come true. His daughter turned her back on him. No matter what, now, he wasn't going to get Kiya back. If she hadn't met that werewolf…

“Damn the werewolf!” he snarled, slamming his fist down onto the table, “Damn them all!”

:Do not blame others for your faults,: a voice whispered behind him, :even though they are a bother to us.:

Aubrey threw himself to the ground as he saw Daorth materialize from the shadows, only his head and neck though. “I live to serve my Lord,” he said, is face pressed to the floor.

Daorth hissed glared at Aubrey. :You lost the girl and the prophecy is starting to unravel. Only you are to blame.:

Aubrey groveled in front of his master. “Forgive me my Lord,” he said fearfully, “yes I am to blame. I am a worm in your presence, a low life. I will fix what I have undone, my Lord.”

:You will,: the dragon hissed, :or I will have your soul for a play thing for a long time, perhaps a lifetime. And a life time is long for a dragon, is it not?

Now, the girl and her companions will soon be led back to you. Be prepared for that moment. Use her lover as bait.:

“The werewolf,” Aubrey said, “but how?”

:Find a way to get him in your clutches. You find a way. Just make sure that that girl's blood is spilt before midnight on that night.”

“What if they don't come before then?” Aubrey whispered fearfully.

:They will,: Daorth said softly, :the prophecy will make them.: Then he was gone.

Trembling, Aubrey got to his feet and stared at where his master had been a while before. He knew what he had to do, and he did not want to disappoint his master again.
