Ghost in the Machine World

-One Month Ago-

Heather was only seventeen. She chose to die that night. She hanged herself in the middle of November. Her body wasn't found until morning. The standard events went as follows: the police were called, they took the body, the funeral prep was done, her parents held the wake, next came the funeral, bury the girl, and go through the grieving process. Should be the end of it, right?

Well…

It started with an email. The day after the funeral. Heather's friend, Molly, saw the message in her inbox.

“Huh? What is this?”

She clicked on the message.

Hey,

It's me. You don't have to worry about me. Everything is fine here.

All my love,

Heather

Molly couldn't understand what she was seeing. Heather was dead. It didn't look like a scheduled message. Molly didn't want this to be a prank. Molly clicked reply.

Hello? Who is this? My friend is dead. If this is a prank, this isn't funny!

Molly huffed as she hit send. The message didn't go through. The girl looked just as confused.

“What the hell?” she asked. What was going on?

She wasn't the only one to get a strange email from the dead girl.

---------

The emails started out positive.

Hello,

Don't worry about me. I am fine on the side. You can go on without me.

All my love,

Heather

They all had questions. Who was doing this? How was this possible? Some of her friends tried to reply. The messages would bounce back with an error message. The emails wouldn't stop. Her parents tried to close the account. That worked—for a time. But then a new account popped up and started sending messages. Only, the tone was different.

I know what you did to me. I now see everything that you have done. Your judgment will be coming. None of you will escape my wrath. You better pray for forgiveness. Because I will not!

Some thought this was a joke. It had to be, right? Molly didn't think so.

“Whoever is doing this is evil!” she shouted at school.

And then, the secrets came spilling out.

Some harmless at first. Others were brutal enough to ruin everything. Granted, it didn't happen all at once. It slowly came dripping out. Buy why? Who was doing this? What did they hope to gain from this? When was it going to stop?

How far was it going to reach?

-Day After Heather's Suicide-

Nina got a new message in her inbox. The woman looked confused.

“Huh? Who is tigerlily@hotmail.co.jp?” she asked herself. She shouldn't have clicked on the message. Her heart sank.

A single image was in the body of the email. No text. Just a picture of him. Nina's hand trembled on the mouse. No… Not this again. Nina thought she was going to faint.

Then there was a knock on her door.
