Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ Restoration ❯ Dawn ( Chapter 1 )
The dim light of the dawn cast a shadow over the tall jagged rock that he crouched on. His wings twitched as he gazed down at the castle below. There was still a lot of work to be done. His tail twitched behind him as he ran his hands over his leg. He still wasn't prepared for the responsibility that the crown would bring. He had lived alone in the wild for six years and it wasn't until recently that he regained contact with his kind.
He had even found a member of his court when he wandered into the city four years ago. The member was perhaps his closest advisor and companion. He had even given a ring to strengthen the relationship between the two and Lee seemed perfectly willing to settle into his role as the king's mate but Ryo had reservations. He had been so ready to defeat his enemy and reclaim the kingdom but now that the reconstruction was underway, he was beginning to feel unsure.
Ryo ran a finger over his right ear and flicked his earrings. He wrapped his tail around his leg and sighed. He knew that he had to uphold his heritage but he didn't feel ready. Sure, he had been studying how to run a kingdom ever since he was little. Before his whole life changed, he reminded himself, but now that the task was facing him.... He stood up and stretched as the early morning sunlight splashed onto his golden wings. He flexed his muscles for a few moments then jumped off the rock and glided down to the ground below. He landed softly in the grass and walked up to the castle. Construction had started on the outer walls of the castle but there was still so much to be done and he was expected to oversee everything. Ever since he was ten, he was always expected to act older than he actually was and now he wanted some time to just be himself and not a ruler.
"Boy I'm glad you're here. We're going to have to completely rebuild this wall. I was thinking about adding some steel reinforcements. What do you think?" Ikara asked and Ryo glanced at him. It looked as though his early morning reflection was going to be the only solitude he would get for the entire day. Why couldn't people handle things without his advice? He sighed as he gazed at the remnants of the wall. He already knew the reason why. He was the heir to the throne and advising was expected of him.
"You should probably add steel reinforcements to the entire outer wall," Ryo said as he walked past Ikara. He stepped into the palace and walked up the stairs. Perhaps he could get to his room before anyone else caught him. He heard footsteps behind him and sighed. So much for trying to get away.
"What kind of marble do you want in the dining room my lord?" D inquired and Ryo looked at him. Had he heard correctly? Who cared about the marble in the dining room? He could care less about the appearance of the castle but he knew someone that had an eye for such detail.
"Let Lee deal with all that. He's got the personality for it." Ryo said and D nodded his head then glanced awkwardly away.
"Lee isn't up yet. I suppose...."
"Well then, I'll send him down when he's awake."
"Yes sir."
Ryo turned away from him and continued to walk up the stairs. He stepped onto the second floor and walked into his father's bedroom. He had been avoiding the journey for a while but he knew he had to accept his fate. He waved a hand and a candle that had been dormant for so long suddenly sprang to life. The old days sprang from his memories as he remembered the sounds that came from the bedroom whenever his father and Lendas were in there together and Ryo now knew what they had been doing. Many a night with Lee had given him an idea just how intimate their fathers had been.
He gazed around the room for a moment then walked over to his father's bed where something appeared to be lying underneath the covers. He pulled back the blankets and shrank back at what he saw. Rats scampered out of a rib cage that Ryo knew had once belonged to his father. He knew that his father had been brutally murdered but this…this was too much. To have killed and skinned him and then brought his skeleton back to the palace and place it in the bed as if nothing had happened…His eyes darkened in rage at the cruelty that his father had been dealt. Even after his death, Levin's evil still breathed inside the palace as if damning his entire family. His mind flashed back at the necklace that Levin wore about his neck and narrowed his eyes. The necklace had been fashioned out of his father's fangs. His eyes darkened in rage. How dare he?
Ryo stared at the burning candle for a moment then sharply raised his hand. The flame sprang up in response to Ryo's command and licked at the torn fabric of a curtain that hung directly over it. The fabric quickly burst into flame and spread to other parts of the room like a hungry animal. Slowly, the bed frame became alight with flame as Ryo watched the fire slowly make its way down to his father's remains.
Ryo watched sadly as the flames engulfed the remnants of his father. He had deserved a better death than the one he had received. The rats squealed in pain and Ryo put his hands to his ears. He winced at their high-pitched screams and took a step back. The noise was too much for his sensitive ears. That was a drawback of his species. High pitched sounds caused extreme discomfort to demons and he hoped that the squeals would end soon. The noise stopped and Ryo glanced at the bed, which had begun to collapse on the floor. He waved a hand and the fire died down, leaving a pile of ashes in its wake.
"I'm sorry," Lee said and Ryo spun around in shock. Where had he come from?
"I didn't hear you come in," Ryo said as Lee took his hand. He pulled Ryo out of the room and Ryo looked at him. Lee began to run his free hand over Ryo's wing as Ryo looked down the hall.
"How long were you behind me?" he asked as Lee ran his hands over Ryo's shirt and began fixing the sleeves.
"Long enough. When did you get up?" Lee inquired as he tried to button the buttons on Ryo's chest.
"Before dawn. Would you stop that?"
"Why, baby?"
"I had to get away from all this."
"I would have gone with you."
"I didn't want you with me."
"We could have had some quiet morning time. Just the two of us in the early morning light..."
"That's not the reason why I left. Not here, Lee."
"Then let's go back to the bedroom."
"Lee…"
"What's wrong?" Lee asked as he opened their bedroom door.
"Nothing. I'm just having extreme reservations about this," Ryo said as Lee pulled down his pants.
"It'll be okay, honey."
"Look at all the damage that's been done. It's terrible. No Lee."
"Yes. You need it darling. You need to take your mind off of this."
"Oh…"
"This really is bothering you, isn't it? You haven't pushed me away or anything."
"I don't feel like it."
"Honey I've become used to your abuse. I need it to function. Don't tell me you don't feel like it. I want your love. Now come on. Do it like you normally do."
"Lee…"
"What?"
"Shut up."
Lee looked at Ryo for a moment then ran a hand over his wings. Ryo watched him for a moment then grabbed his arm. Lee gazed up into Ryo's arms and smiled. His back hit the wall as Ryo ran his tongue over Lee's ear. Lee closed his eyes as he felt Ryo move to his neck.
"This is more like it. Oh baby…" Lee sighed as Ryo covered his mouth with his own.
Lee's back slid down the wall, ignoring the scratches that the rough stone was giving him. Ryo pulled his tongue out of Lee's throat and gazed at the blood that spattered the wall. He glanced at Lee and licked his lips. Lee watched Ryo's long thin tongue with interest as Ryo got on his level.
"What do I feel like doing?" Ryo asked as he drummed his fingers on Lee's chest.
"I'm going to enjoy whatever you do to me," Lee said as he watched Ryo's hand move down to his crotch.
"What happened to the king's bedroom? Oh, forgive me Ryoshan," D said as he apologetically bowed low.
"D, you don't have to be so formal," Ryo said as he stroked Lee's middle.
"There's blood on the wall."
"Don't start acting like Ikara. What do you want?"
"What happened to the king's bedroom? It's been burned."
"Not so hard honey," Lee whimpered and Ryo looked at him.
"Sorry but when I think of what that bastard did to my father…"
"Ryo let go. You're really hurting him," D said as he took Ryo's arm. Lee moaned in pain as he gazed tearfully up at Ryo. Ryo's eyes were cold and distant and Lee knew that Ryo's mind was not at a rational level. He lay there, gritting his teeth in pain as D smacked Ryo's face. Ryo shook his head and Lee breathed a sigh of relief as Ryo loosened his grip.
"Forgive me, my lord but you don't know what you were doing to him," D said as Ryo raised a bloodied hand to his face. Lee whimpered in pain and Ryo stared at him. He placed his other hand over his face and sighed. He could not believe what he had just done. Tears streamed down his face as D wiped his soiled hand.
"Lee I am so sorry. I didn't know what I was doing. Are you going to be okay honey?" Ryo asked as Lee painfully sat up.
"I'm just cut. I'll survive. However, I think I'm going to be out of action for awhile," Lee said as Ryo embraced him.
"I feel terrible. I'm so sorry."
"You're acting like me. I'll be fine Ryo."
"You should probably get that thing wrapped just to keep it from getting infected," D said as Ryo apologetically kissed Lee.
"I am so sorry baby," Ryo said and Lee smiled.
"Honey it's okay. I know you didn't mean it."
"Ryo, there's a lot of work to be done," D said and Ryo looked at him.
"I know. The work will get done. I have to make sure Lee is okay first," Ryo said.
"Now who's being maternal?" Lee asked as he ran his fingers through Ryo's hair.
"Shut up."
"I wasn't being sarcastic, baby."
"I guess I'd better get dressed."
"What about me?"
"Wear a robe."
"I'll look funny."
"No one's going to care."
"All right. I probably should wash this anyway."
Ryo helped Lee up and Lee kissed his cheek. Ryo glanced at him and smiled. Lee shivered as he felt Ryo's tail wrap around his waist and Ryo led him to the bathroom. Lee embraced his arm as Ryo turned on the water for the bath. He caressed Lee's chin and sighed. He should not have let his anger take control of him. Especially not when he was making love to Lee. He had never meant to injure him. Not there at least. He knew he could be quite abusive with Lee but what he had done was completely uncalled for. It was not something that should have been done to his lover, no matter what caused it. Lee took his hand and kissed it. Ryo looked at him and sighed. Lee embraced him and ran his cheek over his chest.
"The pain isn't as bad as it was. I'll be okay honey," Lee said as he gazed up into Ryo's eyes.
"I know, but I still feel terrible about it."
"It was an accident, baby. You didn't do it on purpose. Now come on. Forget about it. I heal fast, remember?"
Ryo nodded his head and Lee smiled as he climbed into the bath. Ryo followed him and kissed his neck. Lee closed his eyes as Ryo ran his tongue over Lee's ear. Lee stiffened slightly as Ryo sat on his lap and looked at him. His hands stroked Lee's stomach and Lee watched Ryo's hands with interest.
"Are you in too much pain for what I want?" Ryo asked as he leaned close to Lee.
"I think I can stand it," Lee replied as Ryo placed his arms around Lee's neck.
