Chapter 22: Beautiful but Deadly Elf Kaizer

"It depends," Musashi answered.

"Depends?" Chichiri questioned, not really thinking that there could be possible solutions to the problem set before them.

"Well, do you want to go straight for Flora-sama or do you want to find Hiroshima-san?" The Wind Cavern gave them an option of doing one or the other first hand.

"I'd go straight to Flora," Fife purposed.

"What?" Keiji didn't really get his logic. Hiroshima had the gem that they were given orders from. Without it, no one will know what to do after they defeat Flora. Furthermore, if Hiroshima were stiffing them, he wanted to get it back before the legend moved too far away.

"Remember; let's not forget the main objective. If we go around looking for Hiroshima then we'll get off course. If we get off course then we might not be able to come back to this point," Fife stated. While finding the angel was important, there was also a huge factor that they could not advance as they had been, especially since Musashi had told them that they could very well be lost in this forest for days.

"But if we get in trouble then we can't reach Vespa," Ko replied. If Flora was giving them trouble, they couldn't rely on the Red Witch to get them out as they usually had. The gem was very important to them, after all. "He has our only form of communication with the witch, so we can't get a hold of her if we get into some real trouble."

"We'll have to rely on ourselves," Keiji told everyone.

"Yes," Tsurugi agreed. "Hiro-kun's advice is working."

"Alright, so we're going ahead?" Azmy wanted an affirmation and apparently so did everyone else. Keiji seemed to be the center of attention, as if he held the very answer to the group's query.

"Why is everyone looking at me?" The drummer asked, feeling a little defensive. He didn't like all eyes being on him.

"You were appointed leader," Ko pointed out Hiroshima's earlier statement regarding his position in the group.

"What? You guys can't think for yourselves?" The appointed leader asked his team mates in defense. Why did everything have to be on his shoulders? He already had a lot to bear and holding other's lives in his hands wasn't something he was too fond of.

"Well, if one moves we all move but you know if you don't want to then you'll get left and we'll become lost," Fife wanted to make sure that they weren't running around trying to find two bodies instead of one.

His words were shot-lived as the green-haired boy took off in full run ahead of the rest of the group.

"Wait!" Musashi yelled in surprise and vain, the Wind Cavern didn't want them splitting up either. If Keiji were to walk too far ahead, they would lose sight of him and the problem they are facing would only become bigger. "Shouldn't I be leading the way!?" He called out flying behind him. After all, he was appointed to help them get out of the forest and he did know the way to Flora.

"Take us to Flora," Keiji commanded.

Their forward advance soon caught the blood-red eyes of one of the elves that had been watching them earlier. She smirked with cruel excitement as the thought of an upcoming battle caused her adrenaline to pump. "Here they come." The elf nearly purred.

Her companion turned towards a massive assembly of large, green vines that resembled a dragon's neck and head with one large dianthus flower protruding from its back. The figure's slanted red eyes looked to the two elves standing her the base of her roots as the silver-haired one spoke.

"What do we do now, my lady?" She asked in a feminine tone.

"I'm surprised that they have made it this far. What could they possibly be hoping to gain?" Flora asked in her deep yet calm voice.

"It's pretty dumb if you ask me," the red-eyed elf crossed her arms.

"Huh?" Her companion looked to her in question.

"They're going to be fighting against a goddess. Come on? Do they honestly expect to win?"

"This is why humans are so stubborn," the more feminine elf replied.

"Meet them half way," Flora commanded.

"Are you sure about this?"

"If they get past you, then I'll deal with them myself," Flora responded.

"Now we're talking!" The red-eyed elf cheered in excitement, holding her fist up in celebration. She was looking forward to this battle and testing her skills against yet another unsuspecting opponent. "Let's go!" The mischievous elf said as she and her companion turned but was soon stopped by their mistress.

"Elf Kaizer…" Flora's baritone voice caught the elf's pointy ear as she looked over her shoulder, red puffy hair trailing behind her as she answered with a 'yeah'.

"Don't jump the gun," Flora advised, knowing of the elf's impatient nature.

The elf sighed. "I'll try. Come on Lumina!" She looked to her companion, who nodded in agreement as the two of them jumped into the air, their forms turning into beams of light which looked much like shooting stars as they phased out.

"This is about to get interesting," the goddess spoke to herself as her watchful red eyes looked upon the unsuspecting humans below. A battle was about to be underway and she was interested to see how the girls would be able to handle this bunch on their own.

Keiji rounded a fallen log as Musashi flew over it. They were all still running, trying to make their way towards any hint of the plant goddess. So far they had seen nothing but an endless amount of trees and shrubbery. He grew tired of no results and turned to Musashi.

"Are you sure that this is the right way?" He had to be sure that the Wind Cavern wasn't steering them wrong. He remembered his incident with him when they were sent to Cloud Kingdom to ask Raiki for assistance.

"Of course it is, just follow me," the dark bird flapped his wings a few times before gaining speed and getting a little speed ahead of the group to lead them to the goddess.

Keiji complied following suit. As he glanced to his right, he noticed that the dark angel was running neck-and-neck with him. As he thought for a few moments, he decided to get the angel's attention. "Where did he go?" The boy questioned. He knew that if anyone knew Hiroshima's whereabouts it would be his mate.

"I don't know," Tsurugi leveled him with a serious look.

"He did this on purpose, didn't he?"

"He knew you'd ask about his curse," the blonde told him gravely. He knew of his mate's secrecy. More than anyone in the world, he would never have wanted to tell a bunch of humans who were still questioning his loyalties.

"Bastard," Keiji muttered under his breath as he ran a little ahead of Tsurugi.

"He has really only told one person about his curse," the angel told him, before he could get out of earshot. He hoped that his comment made the boy feel at least somewhat better about any trust issues that the two of them may have.

"That's you, right?" He looked back at Tsurugi.

"Yes."

"Great, you're both cursed," Ko made a sarcastic realization as she recalled the events of Cloud Kingdom.

"Not even angels can save you all of the time," Tsurugi began to preach but his words were cut short as vines began to shoot from the ground below them, sending their forms into the air a few feet. Debris flew all around them as everything seemed surreal and in slow motion. Everyone made a large commotion of screams and yells as they were surrounded by greenery.

"No one gets past this point," a harsh, spunky and young female's voice could be heard through the green whips.

"What the hell?" Chichiri exclaimed, trying to get his bearings. He was knocked completely off of his feet after all and when he landed, his form crashed to the ground in a crumpled heap, discombobulating him a bit.

"Help me!" Azmy screamed from above. "Please help me!" The girl called out once again. Everyone looked up to see their team mate suspended high in the air. One of the large vines had wrapped itself around her mid-section and held her at bay.

"Don't worry Azmy!" Keiji called up to the girl. He was still attempting to formulate some type of plan. He had to get her down, but he didn't know how he was going to reach her. No doubt running up the vine would be useless. More vines would simply come after him and then the problem would escalade.

"Demon Wind Blades!" A familiar masculine voice called out as large, crescent-shaped pieces of energy came barreling through the center of the team, ripping up the ground around them and barely missing Keiji as they then rolled up off of the ground and cut through the vine as if it were nothing but a mere rope. This caused the massive plant to uncoil from its victim. It released her

"What the-" Elf Kaizer questioned quickly as she turned her head towards the source of the voice. Hiroshima landed in the kneeling position a few feet away from everyone. His bi-colored wings flapped one final time as his form descended. The angel held his sword over his shoulder with one hand, which grasped the hilt firmly and the blade pointed down.

"How convenient you show up," Keiji muttered, narrowing his eyes when he turned his attention to the legend.

"Get off my back, kid," Hiroshima complained as he stood and closed his eyes in irritancy.

"Who are you?" Elf Kaizer questioned.

"Who the hell are you?" Hiroshima questioned back, arching an eyebrow towards the elf.

"I…am Elf Kaizer and this," the red-headed elf held a hand out to her companion as an introduction, "is Lumina."

"We are wood elves. We live in the old White Ash tree in these woods and we serve Goddess Flora," Lumina explained further.

"She's sent us to eliminate you," Elf Kaizer frowned as she locked a cold gaze with the people a few feet away from her. "No one gets past this point."

"Flora has blessed us with this forest and many plants to use as we wish," Lumina added.

"It's your entire fault she's been the way she has," Elf Kaizer accused in a hate-filled tone.

"That's right," her companion agreed as she crossed her arms over her armor-clad chest. "You have no one to blame but yourselves."

"But we didn't do anything. We just got here," Azmy told the girls.

"Humans aren't the only ones who act unjustly. The gods do as well," Hiroshima pointed out. He attempted to talk some sense into the two but it seemed that they would have no part of it. They thought the way they thought- period.

"Who are you to talk about what the gods do?" Elf Kaizer was beginning to grow irritated of their self-righteous acts. Who did they think they were? No one talked to Flora like that in their presence without losing their heads. This group should consider themselves lucky for that factor alone.

"Angels are messengers of the gods," the legend informed.

"And so are we," the red-headed elf informed him back.

"We're Flora's right hand women and we refuse to be defeated," Lumina told them, issuing a challenge in an inadvertent way. She did want to give them time to decline before their death became ominous.

"You'll have to walk on our cold, dead bodies to get through here."

"Gladly, killing is my specialty…and I've been waiting for a challenge," Hiroshima smirked darkly. He felt the fighting spirit and adrenaline flow overcome him and nearly quivered in excitement. He bent his knees and swung his sword back over his shoulder to face the front of him, blade pointed towards its target. But suddenly, something raced past him and snatched his sword in an instant. This movement was so quick that the angel could nearly sense it.

"Wait!" He called out after the form but it was too late. The image was already too far ahead of him and his voice became lost to the wind.

"Wow, and Flora told me not to jump the gun, but if he insists," the mischievous elf pulled out what seemed to be a red and yellow yo-yo.

"Always so quick with pulling something out and just kicking butt," Lumina said from behind her. It was said in an endearing and almost dreamy type of tone. "What a pity I'll have to call your bluff. Illumination!" The silver-haired elf called out as she brought two hands to either side of her face. They were high up near her eyes and her thumbs were bent in, fingers spread far apart as a blinding white light flashed all around them.

Keiji, who had been running towards them with the Crimson in hand, let out a small yelp in surprise as he felt a harsh sting to his eyes. He dropped the bastard sword and attempted to cover his eyes as he heard the contact of metal with dirt but he was too late. The attack had already done its damage and even though his hands were covering his eyes, all he could see was a blinding white light, as if every image had been instantly erased.

"Keiji!" Azmy called out in despair, worry crossed her features. She hoped that the boy hadn't been hit with the attack but she couldn't see anything herself.

Chichiri, who had been swinging back and forth, suspended by a dead vine thrashed around in an attempt to free himself. "This sucks!" He called out in irritation.

Everywhere Keiji looked, he could only see white. His head moved around in every which way in search of his team mates or even his enemy but it seemed that he was alone. All he could see was emptiness. It was as if he was all alone and no one could hear him scream or see his pain. "Where did she go?" He seemed to ask no one. He took a few awkward steps forward, not knowing what awaited him as he did so. Then the boy felt his form crash to the ground with a hard hit. It nearly beat the breath from him.

He had fallen over the Crimson Blade.

'Where is my sword?' He wondered, not knowing that the blade lay right beneath his very feet.

Fife blinked, only seeing a few blue and purple spots before his eyes. Other than that minor detail, he saw everything with the same striking clarity as he had before. He then looked to Keiji and the others, who, for the most part, had been effected. As he gazed at the green-haired boy, who was struggling to crawl around on the ground, he thought to himself. 'I wasn't affected…I wonder…' The slim boy looked towards Hiroshima, who also seemed to have no problem seeing. 'Just as I thought, I wonder if they know.'

"Fool…" Hiroshima murmured.

"Good job Lumina. That really did the trick," Elf Kaizer smiled in victory.

"Thank you, love."

Keiji continued to crawl around; occasionally he patted the ground in search of the stolen sword. Every few inches he would crawl and continue to blindly pat the ground in search of the blade. He found nothing but rocks, twigs and occasionally grass.

"So pathetic to watch bugs crawling around on the ground like that," Elf Kaizer commented towards the blind boy, who was still feebly patting the ground as he crawled around in search for the sword.

"Let's put him out of his misery," Lumina suggested as both elves jumped down from the tree. Noticing that they would surely kill the boy, Hiroshima bolted from the ground and flew towards him in an effort to somehow save him. At the rate of their descent, however, the elves would surely get to him before the legend had a chance.

'I won't make it in time.' Hiroshima thought gravely.

Finally, Keiji's hand touched the hilt of the sword and he was able to grasp it. "Got it!" He said victoriously as Hiroshima neared him, his wings flapping strongly as he attempted to get to his form.

"Look out! To your top left!" The legend instructed, hoping that Keiji would know what he meant. He had no time for questions. Keiji's life hung in the balance. The boy held up the Crimson as Lumina neared him, smiling maliciously.

"You honestly think that will help you?" She swung her hand around as a sword created of pure white light shot from her palm. She drew the deadly weapon, ready to home in for the kill. "Die!" She shouted, bringing the flexible light blade down upon him. Tsurugi called out his name but it was too late.

"Oh no…" Fife said, barely above a whisper.

"What happened?" Chichiri looked around frantically. He could only see white light, just as everyone else minus the angels and Fife. "I can't see!"

'I hope he's alright.' Undine thought to herself.

"Yeah!" Elf Kaizer cheered. "Get hi-him?" She then blinked a few times in confusion as she heard a gun shot ring through the air.

"What the-?" Lumina asked and blinked a few times as a look of surprise crossed her face and her body jolted, stopping in its tracks.

"Don't hurt him!" Azmy called out. She held her gun in front of her face, smoke was still coming from the barrel as the girl looked blindly ahead of her. She could not see the elves but she had hoped that she hit at least one of them.

Lumina held her shoulder. The bullet had hit her in the right shoulder, which caused her to release her light sword. Blood poured from her wound. It leaked out over her hand and dripped on to the ground below. She was surprised that she had been hit like that. If she had been a few more inches over, it would have crashed against her armor but it managed to hit her in a place that her armor could not protect her from.

"Lumina!" Elf Kaizer called out in dismay as she realized her companion had been injured.

"She shot me, but how? How could she have seen through my attack?" The injured elf spoke in disbelief. She looked at the girl who fired the bullet. Her eyes weren't even fixated on the elf, so why was she able to hit her? Was it luck? It didn't appear to be anything of the sort. Azmy's gun was pointed at the elf with deadly accuracy, despite her disability. "Her eyes aren't even in focus. "

"I don't need sight to get you," the shy girl replied.

"What?" The red-headed elf asked. How could a human be so precise without the use of their eyes?

"I'm the daughter of Miyaka, Legendary Ninja, as part of my training I was taught to track people by scent and feel. I can track you by the energy that the two of you put off."

Hiroshima landed beside of the struggling boy. "This was your fault," the angel told him darkly, as he stood a few feet away from him.

"I can see a little now," Keiji was finally gaining his eyesight back. He could faintly tell that it was Hiroshima who was speaking to him. He could make out hazy features about the other male. "What happened?"

"Azmy shot one of those elves," the legend looked to the two elves, which were standing a few feet away from them.

"I'm going to defeat them," Keiji glared at them, his familiar determination creeping on to his features.

"How dare you steal my sword," Hiroshima narrowed his eyes in anger at the boy. His voice was sharp, yet cold as steel. "If you wanted to steal a sword take yours back from Fife."

"Shut up," the drummer spat. He didn't need Hiroshima's two cents on the situation.

"What?" The legend was a bit taken back by his comment. Up until now, no one had dared to tell him to shut up. Then again, this boy seemed to stand up to him more than anyone of the group. He had certain spunk about him that Hiroshima couldn't help but like in the slightest of ways.

"I'm going to do this by myself."

"Thank god he's alright," Fife sighed in relief. He was been patiently awaiting the outcome of the battle and was glad to see that Keiji wasn't wounded or worse- dead.

"I don't think he can do this alone," Undine commented.

Tsurugi was silent. He simply watched.

"But Keiji-kun…" Azmy started, but her voice trailed.

"No, stay out of this, "Keiji ordered, his voice was harsh and commanding.

"What ever happened to 'I prefer hand-to-hand combat'?" Hiroshima asked.

"Like you said, this isn't one of those times," Keiji gazed to the angel with a serious look on his face. He wanted Hiroshima to understand where he was coming from. In matters like this, he thought that out of anyone, Hiroshima would understand him the most.

"Oh, bringing out the big guns. This will be interesting," the elf smirked with sadistic glee.

"Help me out here!" Lumina called to her team mate, still grasping her shoulder.

"It seems kinda useless to take him on the two against one. Couldn't you take him for a while?" Elf Kaizer asked.

"Sure," Lumina drew her sword of light once more and pointed it at Keiji, ready for the kill. "Well how's this, just you and me kid?"

Keiji picked up the Crimson Blade and pointed at her. "I'll take your blood and if you win I'll take my own with this very blade."
