Chapter 58: Azmy's Intentions

"Azmy, thank you for helping him," Tsurugi thanked, even though he was still jealous but he tried to bite back his pride for the sake of his boyfriend. After all, he just had to put some trust in him and everything would be fine.

"You're welcome," Azmy smiled before her expression transformed and she glanced solemnly at Undine, "although I feel bad for her. I know that she really wanted to help him."

"She said that it was fine, Azmy," Tsurugi tried to get her mind off of the guilt. He knew that it was one of the last things that she needed.

"She really wanted to. She was even convinced that she was going to do it and I stepped in at the last minute and took that opportunity from her. I still feel awful...and I know that you love him and you wanted this too." So, she did know a little of his feelings and the blonde angel had to turn his head away and hide a frown as he told her that it was fine in the best normal voice that he could muster.

'If you feel so bad about what you've done then go talk to Undine while we have a rest.' Tsurugi silently wished that she'd go away and leave him to his boyfriend. It was bad enough that he now had to share Hiroshima with the girl and he didn't want to be reminded of it at such a stressful time. "We'll be heading out soon and we won't have much time to talk." The angel tried to remind the gunner girl that if she had something to say to Undine that now would be a good time to get it out in the open.

"Mmm," the slate-haired girl nodded and glanced to Hiroshima. "Will he be alright?"

"He's just resting for now. We should leave him be," Tsurugi replied.

"Alright, if he needs more blood then please tell me," Azmy instructed, although a part of Tsurugi resented that phrase coming from her mouth. There was something unnerving about a girl who was interested in your boyfriend telling you to enable them.

"Of course, now go and set things straight with Undine," the blonde angel smiled with a fabrication that only someone like Fife was capable of producing. The last thing he wanted to do was guilt the poor girl. She'd never live it down and the gunner would undoubtedly beat herself up.

"Okay," Azmy agreed a little unsurely and gave the suffering angel one last glance before she walked off to search for the long-haired girl so that they could talk about the events prior.

"Someone's jealous," Mikunai leaned in, nearly face-to-face with Tsurugi and smiled devilishly.

"You really wanted her away from him, didn't you?" Zephynthos watched the retreating girl's form as it faded off into the distance.

"You two have had tension since we first met. Is there something wrong between you?" Mikunai asked, this time a little concerned and not so playfully. Maybe the problem was serious and his usual nature to blow things off would have to be toned down if it were a serious situation.

Tsurugi glanced down at his sleeping mate's face as his blonde locks shaded his eyes and a deep frown plastered to his face. "She's in love with my boyfriend." The dark angel's voice was low and distant.

"Oh, I see," the long-haired vampire replied a little uncomfortably. This situation was a lot more tricky then he had initially thought. "Well, that definitely would be a problem. Why don't you confront her about it?"

"Because I hope that maybe she'll fall out of love with him and I don't want to make her feel any guiltier then she already does. Her psyche is easily broken and I don't want to be the reason that she does something rash," Tsurugi explained. Unlike Mikunai, he was very shy and cared deeply about the feelings of others before he decided to go and say something that may be offensive towards them. Tsurugi also knew how Azmy's disposition was and the fact that the girl not only carried the burdens on herself but kept them inside was dangerous in its own right.

"So, you'll keep letting her believe that she has a chance? Aren't you afraid that Hiroshima will start liking her?" Zephynthos turned his head slowly to the angel. The small amount of sunlight that shown through the blanket of clouds above turned his black shades, tints of metallic bronze and brown.

"Angels mate for life. I trust Hiro-kun." That was one solid belief that Tsurugi would never doubt.

"You know what you're doing."

"No one will take what is mine from me," the blonde angel's face hardened, for the first time in what seemed like ages. He was very protective of his mate and anyone who tried to put harm on him certainly would catch hell from him in the process.

"Ooooh! Feisty!" Mikunai nearly squealed as he bent his elbows up and held his hands together in a feminine way as he squirmed around in glee. "I've never seen you mad before, it's sexy!"

Helix cast an unamused glance towards his master and lover, who quickly changed pace from squealing fangirl mode to nervous 'I may get beat up' mode.

"Of course, you have them all beat! No one compares to you because I only have the best," the white-haired vampire tried to use flattery as a form of appease for his new-found lover, but Helix would have none of it and saw through him like cellophane.

"Flatterer..."

Undine and Fife stood together, talking about trivial matters between them when Azmy decided to walk towards them. The girl shyly said 'um...Undine' in question as the two figures glanced at her in question, their conversation lost to the deterrent in front of them. The gothic girl glanced at Azmy and answered with a 'yes' in question. She had a feeling that the worries of past problems would be brought up now that the guilt-ridden girl had come to her.

"Can I talk to you? It's important," the look of worry on her face was one of the many factors that lead Undine to believe that her theory on the matter had been correct.

"Is this about you thinking that you hurt my feelings?"

"Well, partly but there are other things that I want to talk to you about?" She had partially hit the nail on the head. The stoic girl had a feeling that the subject had been lingering on the gun slinger's mind.

"Alright, feel free. I'll listen to you."

"First off, I'm really sorry about not speaking up. I really should have but I didn't. I feel like I've taken a great opportunity from you to bond with Hiroshima. I know you don't talk much and it must have meant a lot to you," Azmy nearly felt tears at the back of her eyes. She couldn't figure out what to feel. Part of her didn't care about the thoughts of others and as a result, the other part of her was hurt that she had such a negative and uncaring opinion about her friends and people that she called allies. Azmy didn't know what was wrong with herself and that only added to her confusion and worry.

"That's just the type of relationship that we have. We don't always need to talk to communicate or even remain friends. Our friendship isn't anything that someone like you can understand. To be truthful, you shouldn't be sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. Did you not hear what the vampires said? He's dangerous, now more than ever. You must never forget his true nature," Undine advised.

It was more than clear that Azmy didn't know what she had gotten herself into. The girl was blinded by her feelings and seemed to not take into account that this man was unlike any other in terms of attitude alone, let alone physical strength, looks and magical ability. No matter what, he was still a murderer and as a result, he was to be handled as one would dynamite with a set timer. One wrong move and he could easily kill them all.

She knew of this and she had witnessed it many times before.

"Can you keep a secret?" Of all people, surely Undine wouldn't fail her. Besides, Undine was so quiet that perhaps she wouldn't tell anyone about her secret love. Azmy knew that she probably shouldn't tell anyone but she could no longer keep the secret to herself.

"Yes, seeing as I don't speak often. The less people know, the less they have to understand," the long-haired girl replied. If you didn't speak as much, then people have a tendency to question you less. They assume that you must know what you're talking about; otherwise you would not have opened your mouth. So far, Undine had not done anything to make herself seem untrustworthy so she knew that there were numerous things that were safe with her.

"I love someone here," Azmy placed her frail hand over the slit that she'd made in her wrist shortly before.

"Oh, do you?" The long-haired girl's words were simple and her unreadable flat voice was maintained.

'I think I may know who it is.' Fife thought as he watched the two girl's talk. He wondered why Azmy would admit something like that in his presence but he had assumed that perhaps he was forgotten about.

"But they love someone else."

"Do you want to take them away?" Fife finally made the fact known that he had been listening for a while.

"No!" Azmy shouted in hurt, disbelief and fright. She'd hate it if anyone did anything like that to her. "I'd never do that!" The tears that so stubbornly would not surface before now hung on the corners of her large, round eyes, threatening to fall at any moment. "I want to stop feeling this way but I don't know how. I feel like I'm betraying everyone."

To her, betrayal was the ultimate sin and the ultimate dishonor.

"Not everyone," Fife's upbeat voice clearly stuck out in the conversation.

"Huh?" The gunslinger glanced at him with a look of confusion and dismay.

"Just the lover of the one that you love." That statement seemed so simple and yet it held so much complexity for the young girl and her situation.

"Do you want to know who it is?" The question was nearly shameful in tone as she forced it from her thin, pale lips.

"I don't really care but you can tell me if you wish." If anything, Undine's answer was truthful. She was not the type of person to get into the problems of others, so she would not immerse herself in them. Dark slate eyes watched the other girl's saddened face drop to the ground. At this point in time, Azmy probably felt as if there was no one that she could talk to. In Undine's eyes, this was a problem that she should clearly come to a conclusion to on her own, especially considering the fact that these are her feelings and no one else's. Only Azmy would know them that well to decipher their meaning. "Nothing personal but I don't care about getting into everyone's business. I have enough problems of my own."

"It's Hiroshima."

"I see, no wonder Tsurugi was edgy towards you," Fife responded.

"Did he figure it out?" That same familiar fright passed through the girl's eyes as she felt a fleeting feeling course through her being.

"I think he knew, probably before you even did. Unlike Hiroshima, Tsurugi does look ahead and he uses his angelic powers to their full potential," the vampire prince added. The angels were not stupid when it came to things of that nature. There was really no way to fool them and even if they kept quiet about the issues at hand, you could almost bet that there was no way that they didn't know. They were observers by nature and the binds on them reduced them to silence as they took in all they knew around them to deduct the nature of humanity.

Tsurugi and Hiroshima were no different and their attitudes have been affected by their decisions to judge humanity as they should.

"Then why doesn't he know that I don't want this? Why doesn't he know that I don't want to ruin my friendship with him?" The girl was nearly in tears.

"That's hard to do when you keep challenging him by doing what you do," she had to feel some selfishness towards the subject, otherwise there would be no need for someone like Tsurugi to worry about such a thing, especially when he had remembered that the blonde angel had told he and the others of the group that angels were faithful by nature.

Perhaps it wasn't the fact that she didn't want to love him or even that she did that affected the dark angel. Perhaps it was the fact that he was constantly being challenged by her, she was active about it by not giving the position of donor to Undine and that she was uncaring of anyone else's feelings but her own.

"Huh?" Azmy looked a little wide-eyed at Fife's answer. At this moment in time, he seemed as unsympathetic towards her situation as Undine.

"You are his donor," the prince began. "You couldn't keep your mouth shut and let Undine do it to even show him that you'd lower your competition for him. That would have shown him that you really didn't want to be close to Hiroshima. Now, however, you cannot reverse what you've done and you managed to show him that you still want to be close to him."

"By becoming his donor, you became a vital part of his life as a vampire. Now he needs you to live. That phrase was meant literally but in the same way, minus fond feelings, he now needs you much in the same way that he needs Tsurugi and he feels threatened by you," Undine agreed.

"I didn't want to ruin my friendship with him. I just want to go back to the way I was before." It almost seemed like Azmy was begging them to help her out.

"You're silly!" Fife smiled at the girl. Azmy didn't quite know how to take his off-beat gesture.

"What's so silly about that?"

"You can't change who you love, even if you try to wish it away, true love always finds you," the navy-haired prince pointed a finger up as if to state a fact.

"Just because you have a problem, doesn't mean that you can erase it and get it permanently away from your thoughts," Undine noted.

"Would you like it if someone felt that way about you?" Fife was trying to understand both sides of the story but maybe Azmy needed to be shown in a different way then everyone had been showing her before. Perhaps she needed to walk in another's shoes to get what she was doing, not just to herself but to the other person as well.

If anything, he was trying to let her see through her selfishness.

"No..." It seemed as though it was at least semi-working.

"See? It doesn't make things better. It only makes them worse."

"Then how do I get rid of it in a good way?" Azmy was willing to try anything that she could to reverse the situation.

"Try to find out why you love him," Fife suggested.

"Why I love him?" The gun slinger repeated his statement in the form of a question. She hadn't really thought of that approach before and she was definitely willing to give it a try.

"Yes, there are many different types of love and none of them are the same."

"Yes and friendship is often confused with love," Undine added.

"You can't love the fall air like you love your mother or your brother like you do your lover...Well, unless you're incest. You don't love horses like you love to dance. Love can be many things. You can love a hobby, object or even ideal and there's the love of friends and family, as well as more intimate feelings and physical love. You need to figure out which one you feel for Hiroshima. When you do that, then and only then will you know if your love is true," Fife explained. He hoped that Azmy got the jist of what he was saying to her and the vampire hoped that she would take it into consideration at least.

"I think I'll do that. I really want to stay his friend and tell him that I'm sorry. As long as I don't act weird when I'm around Hiroshima I'll be fine. I wished that I could have let him be the donor. I'm so selfish..." Azmy felt bad for making that decision, even if the vampires told him that it would be a bad idea. She shouldn't have let her feelings take over at the last minute and she definitely shouldn't have spoken up when Undine wanted to be his donor. Maybe it would relieve a lot of guilt if she had done things differently.

Now, there was nothing that could be done to take any of it back and she damned herself for that.

"If you're his donor then you don't need that type of attitude. Have some pride; you'll be a coveted thing in this world." Even if she didn't know her feelings and what they consisted of, there was no reason for a weak attitude in Undine's eyes. She should be happy. She wanted this, after all. Azmy should make the best of her predicament and not see it as so much of a curse. In a way, that would relieve her of whatever pain resided in her heart.

"It will be hard to hide your feelings with him being so protective of you," Fife pointed out.

"He has a sensual touch. He doesn't mean to, for him it's perfectly normal. That alone can make you question yourself," Undine had even noticed the angel's touch was very sensual and had a tendency to make even the most confident of people question themselves. However, once someone got used to it, they could see that it was merely how he was and nothing could change his true nature. Hiroshima didn't mean to be sensual it was just natural to him.

"Did that seduce you, Azmy?" The prince wondered aloud.

For a few moments, Azmy looked ashamed, for she had loved his touch but it was not what made her fall for him. She was so confused and had to blink back her tears as she admitted the very things that frightened her. "I like his touch but it isn't the only thing I like about him."

There were many things that Azmy loved about the angel and his touch was only a small factor on a large scale of wonderful qualities. Sure, she could go into the simple things like his looks, bad boy attitude, touch and physique but there were other things that were deep and hidden that she loved around him. The gun slinger loved his protective nature that he'd shown to both Tsurugi and Keiji, and his hidden kindness that he rarely shown. This proved to her that he was hardly the jerk that people like Ko thought that he was.

She could think all day and still come up with reasons that she loved him but what motive did she have for loving him? What if there was no motive at all? Would that mean that her love was true and she could not escape her feelings? What would she do? The very thought of having no hope at all made the girl paranoid and riddled with fear.

She was nearly delirious over all of this and didn't know what to think when faced with the reality that she may truly love him without reason or motive.

"This will be hard, won't it?" Fife was a little worried for the girl as well. He knew how it felt to love someone without them loving you in return. If he were Azmy, he'd probably feel some of the same feelings though not to the extent. The entire situation was nothing but dangerous on the human mentality, on her mentality and he had to think of something before she completely caved in.

'Fool...' Undine thought as she stared down the girl. Azmy was doing nothing but causing trouble for both herself and Hiroshima. She needed to find out her feelings soon. The slate-haired sorceress couldn't believe that even though she felt as if her feelings were dangerous, she would still allow herself to grow closer to the angel, make denail about how she really felt and then damn herself for feeling that way. What was she trying to accomplish? That gun slinger would eventually make herself crazy if she didn't stop with this nonsense.

No one's words got to her head. Maybe she just had to find out on her own.

Bass, Treble, Chichiri, Keiji and Zangetsu all stood in a group and talked amongst themselves. Since it was a period of rest they decided to make plans for their next movement and talk about how they would cope with Hiroshima being a newly converted vampire.

"Well, this is a bloody mess," Bass commented with a slight shake of his head. Things hadn't been running smoothly but at least they were advancing. He worried for King Vasca and what might happen if they don't reach him soon. He just hoped that he could hold on until they arrived.

"Yes, I hope he'll be alright," Zangetsu glanced at the sleeping legend with a sympathetic look on his face.

"He just needs to catch a few winks. He'll be alright. He'll just feel odd for a bit. It would be best if you would help him out. He won't know what to do for a while with his new chromosomes," Bass educated the group.

Keiji agreed as Zuri asked what they should do when he woke up. The green-haired drummer suggested that they keep advancing towards Vasca.

"Always right now," Chichiri sighed. Now a days it never seemed like anyone wanted to rest. As soon as he thought that he'd get a chance to relax, everyone else wanted to get up and go. Why did it seem like his team mates had a severe case of hyperactivity or ADD or something all of the time?

"It's important that you get there right away," Treble responded.

Again, everyone was against his idea of taking it easy for a just a few minutes.

"Yes, we're in the middle of a war. We're wasting time and lives as well as risking Vasca," Zangetsu agreed with the dog-lord. "We have no choice but to act now."

"I'd like to rest a while," The blonde complained.

"We can," Keiji replied.

"Really?" Chichiri responded in an overly dramatic joyous tone. Finally, someone agreed with him on something!

"When we get to Vasca's."

The blonde fell to the ground as a result. He knew it sounded too good to be true.

"How amusing," Constantine ran a hand through her short, flipped out hair. Watching the men talk had been a favorite past time of hers. Men, no matter what the species were always amusing or even stupid in some cases.

"That's Chichiri for you," Ko responded, a little unamused by her friend's stupidity and goofiness.

"What a goofy man."

"He's always been that way," the white-haired woman replied. It was no lie; Chichiri was always light-hearted even when everyone else was serious. In a way, it cheered her up in situations like that because she had always had someone there who would make her laugh, no matter what. That was among one of the many reasons that she liked him.

"So tell me, Ko is it?" Constantine turned to the other female in question.

"Yes, that's right."

"Do you like any of the men in your group?" The blonde vampire smirked lazily as she took a small glance to the group of men, who were talking amongst themselves a short distance from them.

"Well..." Ko froze momentarily. She had never been faced with this question. Usually, unless it was stated, no one in her group really talked about their interests and sexual relationships. It was odd that Constantine was being so open about the subject with her, even if it was simply out of curiosity.

"You're surrounded by a bunch of cuties. Too bad the prince is gay but I suppose it's just as well."

"What do you mean?" Ko looked a little confused.

"It seems like he has someone...So, what about you?"

"There's someone that I like." The girl had actually liked this person longer then what she had insinuated but could never tell him. Ko wasn't the type of women who could approach a man and ask him out. She was a little old-fashioned when it came to the subject of love.

"Who?"

"I'm not telling. I don't want them to hear." They were very close to the group and some of them had exceptionally good hearing. Ko definitely wanted her secret to stay a secret.

Constantine began to play the guessing game with her. "Is it the one with the wing?" She asked and gestured to Zangetsu.

"Zangetsu? I barely know him."

"So you've known this person for a while?" The blonde vampire asked and Ko nodded in response. "The green-haired one?" Constantine had remembered Ko stating something about knowing Keiji for a while so maybe it was him.

"Keiji?" Ko was a little confused. Keiji and Hiroshima both had green hair.

"Is that his name?" Constantine asked.

"Wait...The one passed out on the ground or the one standing in the group?" Ko asked as she pointed to Keiji to make sure that he was who they were talking about.

"The one in the group. Do you like him?"

"No, he's not my type. We're just friends." Ko replied.

"Don't tell me you like the blonde," Constantine's sly face shifted to one of unamusement as she asked the question in a dead panned voice. She herself was a woman of demonic charm and preferred the darker, mysterious men in oppose to the regular guy types or the pretty boy types but Ko was silent in reply, only hinting to her that he was, indeed the one that she secretly liked.

Baratone held up a large, fancy black urn with flowers painted on the side of it in glory. "I finally found them!" He called out them caressed the urn and stared deeply into it, as if he were gazing into the face of his lover. "With these remains from your grave, I'll resurrect you and soon you will be mine, my sweet Amante. You'll finally be free of Vasca's curse and we'll be together again soon."

The priest rubbed the urn against his cheek tenderly and smiled. "I can't wait until I finally have you in my arms again, sweet Amante. I don't care if it's wrong that I love you, as long as my followers don't catch on then my plans will be preserved. There's only one man who stands in my way and that is King Vasca. He possesses the item that I seek, the Legendary Black Mirror. The only way to get this mirror is to infiltrate his castle." The soft look on his face hardened with severity. "My underground ops have failed. I wonder how long it will take the remaining Holy Armies to complete the tunnel. I have to keep those brats away from the mirror long enough to seize it from him. Then and only then will I have enough items to resurrect Amante."

"Ugh..." Hiroshima slowly stirred awake and shaded his blue eyes with his forearm and winced as he felt a sharp pain in his eyes, almost as if someone were stabbing him. "It's too damned bright out here."

A pair of round framed, tinted shades were handed to him. The angel looked up to see Helix, bent down to him.

"Your eyes are very sensitive. Please wear these," Helix told him kindly as Hiroshima thanked the Catholic man and placed the glasses on his face. The diminished light decreased the pain and his eyes were at least semi-relieved.

"Hiro-kun I..." Tsurugi began but glanced away, ashamed that he could not help his partner, even though he had risked his life a while ago to save him from nearly being burned alive on a crucifix. Before he could completely turn his head, he felt a strong, large hand grab his chin lightly and turn his head back around.

It was then when he found himself staring through tinted shades into the eyes of his lover.

"Don't doubt our bond. I have no feelings for her," Hiroshima reassured in a husky, serious tone.

"Of course," Tsurugi was relieved that Hiroshima would keep that angelic way and stay true to his mate. The blonde kissed the legend gently for a few moments before they pulled apart and Hiroshima continued to speak.

"Vampire or not, you are my mate. You belong to me and don't forget it," the spiky-haired man knew that Tsurugi had small doubts, despite anything he may have said in the past and he wanted to assure him that he would always love him. A relationship without trust isn't a relationship, nonetheless a relationship that he wanted to have.

"You're so forward," Tsurugi blushed a little but was happy that Hiroshima reassured him on the subject and when he looked into his eyes, he could tell that he was very sincere.

"Don't let Azmy give you any troubles."

The blonde nodded in response. He could try to his best ability.

Hiroshima soon arose, like a foal learning how to walk. This caused him to get attention from everyone in his group. They all looked at him with surprise on their faces to see that he was awake and walking around. The angel was still a little shaky but he knew that it would only get worse if he didn't at least move around.

"Hiroshima..." Keiji murmured as he saw the man staggering around.

"You're awake," Undine responded.

"Do you need any blood?" Azmy asked.

"Not now," Hiroshima continued to attempt to get his bearings.

"Are you alright?" Fife wondered if he could even afford to go on with everyone. He had taken a lot and his body may not still be able to function correctly.

"My body hurts but I'm fine. Let's go," the legend didn't want to waste any more time lagging behind. Who knew what was going to happen to Vasca if they wasted any more time. He was well enough to walk so he was well enough to advance forward. As he walked, his body would absorb energy from the sun and he would be able to gather it if he needed to attack any soldiers.

"Are you sure?" Keiji gave the angel a stern look.

"Yes, I'm not holding you up anymore. We're almost to the castle," Hiroshima knew that Keiji wouldn't allow them to advance if he was hurt more than he had told him he was. The angel had apologized and from now on, he would tell him if he was hurting that badly. To be truthful, Hiroshima felt like an ass for that little charade he put on and promised himself not to do it again if he could.

"Let's move out then," Undine informed everyone.

The group began to walk towards a strange looking, monstrous black castle that possessed a large, windmill-type object with blades for the spinning rotation on the top. They were amazed at the structure of such a dark and foreboding place and many of them were sure the building was at least the height of a skyscraper and the width of a large power plant. It was a grand sight to behold and yet it was still far off, it seemed within grasp.

"It's huge!" Azmy's eyes lit up with wonder and surprise as she gazed up at the tall, medieval structure.

"Yes, at one point in time, everyone lived inside of the castle," Treble informed the group.

"Wow!" The shy girl's soft voice continued in amazement. It certainly looked like a whole city could live within it.

"They moved out during a time of peace but now they've all headed back into it again," the white dog-lord continued.

As they advanced towards the castle the angels seemed edgy. Tsurugi and Hiroshima walked a bit behind the ground and seemed nerved more than before. It was always a feeling that the two of them had when they were walking and not actively taking part of a conversation. The dark angel hugged his lover's arm and looked at him with a serious expression.

"I feel like I'm being watched," Tsurugi stated lowly.

"I've felt that way ever since we destroyed the Rose Hip Club," Hiroshima told him. He too felt as if he needed to dance on glass shards and hope that none of them were sticking up to jab him. He had a feeling of who it might have been but he wasn't sure on what to say to those in his group or if he should say anything at all. It could be Vespa keeping an eye on them or it could be Soel, watching and waiting for them to do something that would cause her to act.

Maybe it wasn't any of them at all. Perhaps it was some outside force that they didn't know why or how they were watching the group. There were too many open options to say something just to make his team mates think he was crazy or be paranoid by the fact. If they didn't know it, then they could move more freely and not feel constant tension.

"I wonder who's watching us and for what purpose," Tsurugi stated.

"I'm not sure but I have a feeling it has something to do with Soel."

...To Be Continued...
