A/N: Hi again. I know, I suck at updating big time; I'm sorry for the long wait. And I hope you enjoy this longish chapter. Thanks. Please R&R!
Chapter 15:
“I don't want to go,” Matthew declared, holding onto Aiko's hand fiercely.
“Yes, you do.” Aiko chuckled at her boyfriend.
“No really, I want to stay here with you. Who cares about the playoffs,” Matthew claimed, earning him a few glares from some of his team-mates close by.
“I do, you do, and your whole team definitely does,” Aiko said adamantly, very amused. “Now, let go of my hand like a good little boy, and get on that plane.”
Matthew had been particularly attentive to her ever since the fight they had two days ago. He bought her flowers, candy; took her out; and he even came to hang out at her house the day before. He felt guilty. And she'd tried to tell him a million times so far that she was fine.
“Why do I get the strange feeling that you're trying to get rid of me?” Matthew asked suspiciously.
“That's because I am,” she replied, laughing at his pouted expression. “Now get going and cinch that fourth game for the next round.”
“All right, all right, if you put it that way,” Matthew finally caved. “But I'll miss you... a lot.”
She kissed his cheek. “I'll miss you too... but I'll be here waiting for you.”
“My apartment,” he leaned in and whispered in her ear. “Maybe we can finish what we started last time.”
His words sent a delicious shiver up and down her body. She grinned up at him mischievously. “That's a definite maybe.”
“Let's go guys. Let's go,” Coach McTavish yelled.
Matthew let out a sad sigh. “I better go before I get in trouble again,” he said sheepishly.
“Ok, I'll see you soon.”
He leaned in for a quick kiss, before hurrying away. She watched as he walked through the gates and out of sight.
She also saw Tony. They made eye contact; they still hadn't talked about the incident at Riley's party. Aiko knew she had hurt him. But was Matthew right, had Tony been faking? He gave her a small smile, indicating that they were ok for now and then with a wave he too went through the gates.
Aiko waited until she was able to yell out a good luck to Jacob, Hugh, Riley and Ray and then decided to leave. Matthew and she were ok now. They were solid and she hoped they stayed that way.

“Aiko, thanks for inviting us over here. Watching the game on a big screen is awesome,” Laila exclaimed.
“Yeah, thanks,” Sarah agreed around a mouthful of chips.
“Are you sure it's ok for us to be here?” the practical Yumi asked.
“Of course. Matthew wanted me to watch the games over here. He said I could invite anyone I wanted. He trusts me,” Aiko explained.
“Aww... that's so sweet. He trusts you,” Laila said, in an annoyingly sugary voice. Aiko threw a chip at her and they all laughed.
“What happened last night? You guys left kind of early,” Yumi asked Sarah and Aiko after they stopped laughing.
“You're going to have to ask Aiko that. I only left because they were my ride home,” Sarah added.
Aiko blushed visibly; she had hoped this wouldn't come up.
“What, tell us! You and Matthew are ok, right?” Laila inquired.
“Yeah, we're good,” Aiko quickly reassured.
“Was it a Tony thing again?” Sarah asked, knowingly, and Aiko cringed at her friends accuracy. “Oh Aiko, come on. You've made your decision. Now you've just got to stick with it.”
“No,” Aiko denied. “It's not like that. I did choose Matthew and I am sticking to it.”
“Then what happened?” Laila continued.
“I saw Tony at the party. He didn't look so good. He stumbled into a room and I followed him to check on him,” Aiko elaborated.
“Aiko, you didn't,” Sarah chided.
“What? I'm supposed to leave the guy to be sick alone,” Aiko defended herself. “Plus, I kind of felt like it was my fault.”
“It's not your fault,” Yumi said firmly.
Aiko shot her friends a 'yeah right' look. “Ok, well maybe it was a little your fault. But I told you-” Sarah began.
“Uh uh. I don't need any I told you so's,” Aiko said tersely, glaring at Sarah.
Laila looked between her two friends, hating the tension she felt there. “So Matthew found you two alone together, am I right?”
Aiko blinked rapidly and answered, “Yeah he did.”
“So that's why we left so abruptly,” Sarah commented.
“But you said you two are all right,” Yumi wanted confirmation.
“We argued and talked a bit, but we worked through it,” she assured.
“Good, good. It's about time you had a real man in your life,” Yumi added.
“Hey,” Aiko whined, all sharing a laugh at Aiko's expense.
After it died down Aiko added one more thing. “The funny thing is, Matthew seemed to think that Tony was faking.”
“Could have been...” Laila said, agreeing as she put a handful of chips into her mouth.
“What?” Aiko exclaimed; she thought her friends would agree with her, that Matthew was wrong.
Laila swallowed the chips and looked at her friends. “The guy is desperate to have you, Aiko. I can tell by the way he looks at you. And desperate guys do dumb things, like fake being drunk to gain sympathy from the girls that they want.”
“Come on Lai,” Aiko scoffed. “What desperate guy would do that?”
“Tony,” Laila, Sarah, and Yumi answered together.
Aiko didn't know what to say. She turned to the TV. “Oh look, intermission is over.” And that ended that conversation.

“Aww man, I can't believe they lost,” Sarah said in disappointment.
“I know, Matthew must be sad,” Aiko agreed.
“Are you going to call him?” Laila asked her.
“Nah, he's probably busy right now. I'll call him tomorrow.”
“Yeah, I'm calling Hugh tomorrow,” Yumi informed them.
“Ok, well we should probably get going,” Laila said, getting off the couch.
“Yeah,” they all agreed.
They all stood up and made their way over to the door.
“You aren't going?” Yumi asked Aiko when she didn't get her things. “I thought you were coming to sleep over?”
“I think I'll stay a bit longer; clean up a bit, you know. But I'll see you guys tomorrow.”
They said their goodbyes and Aiko shut the door behind them. Leaning against the door she stood there lost in thought. Matthew wouldn't be happy right now. But they still had a chance. They were winning the series three to two and their next game was at home, a good indicator of a win.
Aiko let out a sigh and went to work on cleaning up the small mess they had made. When she was done the place was spotless, but she was also dead tired. It was almost midnight. Suddenly an idea struck her.
Hurrying over to the phone she dialled a number. “Hello, mom.”
“Aiko, it's late where are you?”
“I'm still here at Matthew's.”
“Well you better come home,” her mother stated sternly.
“Mom... I'm really tired and I don't want to drive right now,” Aiko started.
She heard her mom let out a frustrated sigh. “Fine, I'll wake your dad and he'll come get you.”
“No mom,” Aiko said quickly. “I mean, I was thinking... couldn't I just stay here the night?”
“Stay there?”
“Yeah, just you know sleep over,” Aiko clarified, “Just for the night.”
“No; it's a boy's house. And you are not allowed to sleep in a boy's house until you are married,” her mother said adamantly, showing off her old fashioned ideas.
“Even if the boy isn't here?” Aiko questioned. “Come on mom, Matthew's in Vancouver and he won't be back until tomorrow afternoon.”
Her mom didn't say anything for a minute. “All right...” she finally conceded. “All right. But if anyone asks you're at Sarah's house.”
“Thanks mom!” she said cheerfully and hung up. “Now to get some sleep.

Aiko woke up the next morning feeling really refreshed and extremely happy. She felt like nothing could bring her down. She had decided to sleep in Matthew's bed last night; she felt so comfortable there.
Now she was taking a shower. She wanted to look great when she saw Matthew. They had a definite maybe promise to keep.
Just as she was done she reached for a towel and wrapped it around herself. She pushed back the curtain and got the surprise of a lifetime.
“Matthew!” she exclaimed as she stared at him in the doorway. “What are you doing here?”
His arms were crossed over his chest and he had an extremely amused expression on his face. “Well I just got back and I was very surprised to find a beautiful goddess in my shower.”
Aiko blushed deeply as she stepped out of the bathtub and onto the floor. She clutched the towel to her and stared at the ground. “Oh umm... I stayed here late... and um I decided to stay...” She looked up at him. “And I thought you weren't back till this afternoon.”
He took a step towards her. “Oh well we decided to take an earlier flight,” he told her, taking another step her way.
“Oh that's um... good.” He smirked at her flustered reaction. “I'm sorry about the game.”
“Yeah, well that's ok we'll get them tomorrow night,” he said nonchalantly.
Silence fell between them. Finally he took one last step towards her while she stared down, pushing a wet lock behind her ear. “I'm glad your back,” she whispered, looking up at him from beneath her eyelashes.
“Me too.” He grabbed a towel and tenderly dried her hair. “So where'd you sleep?”
“Umm... in your bed; I hope that's ok.”
Matthew stopped what he was doing and stared down at her flushed cheeks. “Of course it's not ok,” he said and she stared at him in confusion. “I mean the first time you're in my bed and I'm not there. That sucks.” He grinned at her and she returned it.
“Well... we could remedy that,” she started shyly, taking the last step that would close the distance between them.
Matthew put his arms around her. “I like the way you think.”
She grinned up at him, before she pressed her lips to his giving him a brief peck. And then a more intense kiss that he eagerly returned. She could feel the tip of his tongue graze her lips and she opened her mouth to let him in changing the mood from gentle and sweet, to dark and sultry. He pressed her up against the wall and let his mouth trail from her lips down to her neck.
“Matthew,” she gasped as he gave her neck a little nip and then soothed it quickly with his tongue. She was gasping for air as his mouth left a flaming trail of kisses along her collar bone. She let her hands wander from his back to his chest and lower.
“Aiko,” he groaned in desire. He wanted her and bad. The towel slipped to the floor and he had the chance to fully take her in before he touched her. He placed two hands on each of her bare hips and brought her close to him. He kissed her this time, letting his mouth dance over hers, letting his hands wander. He wanted to pick her up and carry her to his bedroom where he wanted so many things. But sadly that was not to be, because of a stupid thing called a doorbell.
“Oh man, I hate that thing,” Matthew exclaimed, clearly frustrated at the doorbells timing.
“Just forget it,” Aiko decreed.
He was going to do just that until they heard the voices. “Aiko come on, open up!”
“Oh my God it's my Dad!”
“Aiko,” another voice called.
“And you're Mom,” Matthew groaned.
“Oh man, oh God, oh God,” Aiko panicked.
Matthew placed his hands on her shoulders. “You stay in here. Lock the door. When you're dressed, come out and act like you didn't know I was here. I'll deal with you parents.”
“Ok, thank you, thank you!” she exclaimed.
Matthew stepped out of the bathroom and Aiko shut the door behind him. He went to the front door and braced himself. He wasn't Mr. Tanaka's most favourite person and him being there wasn't going to help.
“Matthew, what are you doing here?” Mrs. Tanaka asked in shock.
Mr. Tanaka turned to his wife. “I thought you said he wouldn't be back till this afternoon?”
“That's what Aiko told me,” Mrs. Tanaka replied.
“We took an earlier flight. Aiko doesn't know I'm here yet,” Matthew lied. “Would you like to come in?”
The two walked into the room both tight lipped.
“Where is Aiko?” Mr. Tanaka asked stiffly.
“When I got here, it sounded like she was in the shower. But sounds like she's done,” Matthew explained.
“We only let Aiko stay here because we thought you weren't going to be here,” Mrs. Tanaka stated gravely.
“I wasn't here. I just got here about fifteen minutes ago,” Matthew assured her, not a lie.
Mr. Tanaka was about to say something when they heard a door open. A second later Aiko stepped into the living room fully dressed in a pair of jeans and a pink t-shirt.
“Mom, Dad?” Aiko said, confused. Turning a bit she saw Matthew. “Matthew? What are you doing here?”
“We managed to fly back sooner than expected. I just got back like twenty minutes ago,” Matthew offered.
“Oh that's great,” she said happily.
“Aiko we came to see if you'd like to go have breakfast with us,” Aiko's mother asked.
“Why don't you come too, Matthew?” Mr. Tanaka said politely, though he looked as if he were sizing Matthew up.
“Umm... ok,” Matthew agreed shakily, it's like the older man saw right through them.
“I have my car, how about you go and we'll follow,” Aiko suggested.
“All right,” Mr. Tanaka answered turning to leave. “But we will see you there promptly.”
“Yes dad,” Aiko said, barely hiding her eye roll.
Aiko waited until the door closed behind them to let out her sigh of relief. Matthew came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. She relaxed into his embrace.
“Thanks fo covering for me,” Aiko said sincerely.
“It was no big deal,” Matthew told her, kissing her cheek.
Aiko turned in his arms, eyes wide. “It was a big deal. If my parents had caught us I would have a hard time seeing you again.”
“Aiko, you're 22 years old, you need to let them stop controlling your life,” Matthew chided.
“It's not like that Matthew, they're not controlling, they're overprotective and traditional,” Aiko explained. “I follow their rules to a point. Once I'm done school I'll be out of that house.”
“Ok, I understand. We better get going,” Matthew conceded. “I can't believe I have to spend the morning with your dad.” He groaned.
Aiko laughed. “He's not that bad.”
They started for the door. “Sure you can say that. You're not the one he wants to see six feet under.”

Well that's it. Please forgive any spelling errors and such. I just got a new laptop and don't have MSWord on it yet, so I downloaded Open Office. And for some reason the spell check doesn't work. So I'm doing it the old manual way.
Anyways... I hope you enjoyed this somewhat longish chapter. I'll try my hardest to update sooner.
