Dylan looked over at Aria skeptically. She had been leading him around the forest for what seemed like hours, but they didn't seem to be getting anywhere. He was beginning to get annoyed and highly exasperated.
“Listen you little pixie, if you can't help me, then just-” he was cut off.
“Look just up ahead.” Automatically, Dylan turned towards where she indicated. A shimmering blue vortex seemed to be pulsating inside a rather large redwood. It was as if blue and white light had attempted to fuse together, but ended up swirling into nothingness for all eternity, never to be released from their endless circle.
“You and your friends have upset the balance of this Forest of Time. We are at the core of all dimensions. Look around.” Her tiny voice echoed loudly.
Everywhere blue light seemed to arrive only for a moment, then vanish again. Some were bigger then others. Dylan wondered why he hadn't noticed them jumping around before. The only one remaining stationary was on the tree before him.
“Okay... ” He asked. “You were supposed to help me find Scott and Sammy, not these stupid things.”
“You will find them through these portals. They are trapped in separate worlds. You must find them and return to your own dimension as quickly as you can.”
“Why?”
“If you don't return soon... there is a chance your realm will be invaded and become unbalanced. You and your friends must leave.” Aria declared firmly. “Now, choose a place and enter the vortex.”
“No.” Dylan glared at the small creature.
“Why not?”
“Because... shut up.” He thought for a moment, then stated. “How am I supposed to tell where I'm going or if Sammy and Scott are in that particular area?”
“There is no way of knowing.” she answered with conviction. “You'll just have to go with your instincts.”
“Instincts? Really, I'm sure that'll just solve everything.” He replied mockingly, then shook his head and walked into the tree portal without another word. Aria sighed with frustration. She wasn't so sure about this anymore...
