Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ Shifter ❯ Salutations ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Chapter 1 - Is the beginning. I own these characters. They are, in fact mine. I do not, however own the idea or concept of the multiply elements. I borrow that concept from a variety or sources and I hope that no one minds.

So yah here goes!
This is my first chapter/time so I'm hoping for the best!
(Or at least not that bad…)

I will tell you a story, if you'll lend me your ear. It is one of the most fantastic stories about magic and romance and of course a great evil, but then what is a story with out great evil?
My story is about friends and enemies and monsters and a world really not so different from our own, and yet one of the most wondrous majestic places I could have ever imagined.
I visit there whenever it won't get me in trouble with anyone and I hope you too will see why.
My story begins in the dark. On a night the stars went black and the sky seemed strangely vacant. The only sound anyone could hear was the wind ripping along the sleek stone frame of one of the best methods of transportation this world had to offer. The heavy monstrous form of the stelto sped along on its track past trees and trees and more trees. Most of the passengers were quietly sleeping in their respective quarters but one pair of particularly fierce dark-auburn eyes gazed lazily out of their owner's compartment window.
Their owner had been traveling for some time now and was far to bored for any one's own good. The dark auburn eyes rolled to look around the empty compartment again for any thing that might be interesting. They had made a habit of this and were nearly ready to go back to gazing listlessly out the window again when something caught their owner's attention. The eyes focused on the window but this time the one that looked out into the corridor instead of the speeding trees. Had it been just a trick of the light or had they just seen a whip of golden red hair disappear across the window they were now staring out of with an almost frightening intensity?
The eye's owner had a name of course and it was Ari. Ari had quite an extraordinary pair of eyes. They were the color of glowing mahogany and they tilted up at their corners which gave him a strangely beautiful almost Elvin appearance that often held people's gazes longer than he could appreciate. But these eyes were not just beautiful. They saw a bit more. They saw things before they happened. True, not very often and whenever his little visions did come around they were never extremely helpful but they intrigued the young fire shifter and he couldn't help but wonder about them. This fact was the reason he was on this speeding lump of earth in the first place.
He sat for a moment staring out the indoor window willing the light to overtake his vision and show him something about what he had just seen but nothing came. He sighed and stood up to stretch before swiftly opening the door and walking out into the seemingly empty corridor.

“Do you think he saw?” Ren giggled from atop the luggage rack that ran the length of the sleek stelto. She was thinking to her sister, Tommy who had some how managed to squeeze herself into an impossibly small space between one compartment and the bathroom wall.
Again, Tommy preformed the impossible and shot Ren a devious look.
“Of course he saw. Why else would he come out?” Her tone felt a bit harsh on Ren's mind but she knew her sister better than that.
“Well! Get on with it or we'll have to stay here till he decides it's not worth.” Tommy thought mischievously into Ren's head and cautiously stuck her head out from behind the compartment wall and grinned up at Ren in the rack above the slightly befuddled but suspicious boy staring around the corridor.
“Are you sure you do-“ Ren began but Tommy threw her a dirty little glance and she shrugged in self-defense. Fine… fine… This she thought to herself and gave the bucket sitting next to her a little shove with her elbow and it toppled down off the rack and crashed down on the highly alarmed and now soaking Ari.

Ari's mouth hung open and his arms were raised from his sides so that the water dripped away from his stunned and trembling body. For a minute he stood frozen and dripping while he took in his current situation. Then, very slowly, he turned one of his more terrifying gazes upwards sweeping the rack and taking no time at all to fix on Ren, who was, un-helpfully, bighting back tears of laughter.
“Is there anything I can help you with miss?” Ari growled through gritted teeth attempting the hold onto his temper although he was sure the water had to be rising from his body is swirls of steam for he could feel his temperature rising steadily. His ears picked out the nearly silent snickering behind him as Tommy also attempted to contain herself with little success. Ari kept his gaze locked on the redhead curled up on the luggage rack shaking with merriment.
“No. Not really.” Ren slipped through all the laughter that was trying to escape her lips. She regretted her words almost instantly for as soon as they reached Ari ears his entire body began to emanate heat and two crimson torches blazed into life in his trembling hands.

Okay well that's it for the first chapter.
It's not that long but I might even turn it into an epilogue so I don't think I'll make it much longer.
Please review. I'm really only here to get reviews so please! It only takes a second!

So yah…
In the next chapter:
Ari is grumpy about a dream, and Ren is a wonderful singer.
I hope you see you again!
