"Horny. That's an emotion. Right? I like it when you're that one." He put the thing on his ear and purred softly. When she started walking off he grudgingly put it back. He was going to get her to smile if it was the last thing he did.
"You have a one tracked mind, Yori. It makes you rather predictable," she stated with at smirk as they walked.
"Well just think of it like this. You're all I think about." He smirked and reached out for the next item they passed. "Well then what about this." Dipping his hand into the liquid material, it soon went up his arm turning it invisible. "Genuine invisibility liquid."
Alana covered his face with it. She then smiled. "What do you know? Makes you less annoying."
Yori gasped and choked. Growling, he tossed some at her, spattering her torso making it invisible. "Man, now I have nothing to fondle!"
Alana looked down at herself. "That...is not a pleasant look. How do I get the stuff off?"
He reached over and grabbed the special rag. After wiping it off his face he eagerly went to wiping it off her chest. Taking his time on certain area where he continued to wipe long after the invisibility liquid was gone.
She just stood there with her hands on her hips smirking until he was done. "Get yourself a nice feel?" She thumped him in the head. "Just because I kissed you doesn't mean you get to jump back in the sack with me. You still haven't earned all my trust back."
He whimpered pitifully. After getting the rest of the liquid off of himself he tossed the rag and took her hand. "Fine. Let me show you the main attraction here." Pulling her past several other modern miracles, he led her to what looked like a field of silver liquid orbs. "These magical devices create whatever you desire. It's a literal wonderland in there."
"Whatever I desire? Like food or something?" How could an orb create whatever she wanted? And if she got it, could she keep it?
"Yes and no," he said, trying to explain it how Nex had explained it to him. "You see, you step inside the device, and once there it generates an alternate reality paradox. Basically it creates a world just for you. Whatever you desire occurs there. When I went in there I felt like fighting, so my world was the arena where I got to fight and do whatever I wished."
"Whatever I want..." she whispered then stepped in.
Yori faded and the area around her changed. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. When she opened them, she was standing in a field of sun flowers. She looked down at herself and then at her hands. She was six again...small and human. She wore a summer dress and a little hat with a ribbon. Someone called her name and she turned. Off in the distance she could see two forms waving to her.
"Mommy?" she whispered.
She smiled as the tears ran down her face and ran towards the forms. One of them crouched down and held out their arms as Alana jumped into them. Their faces were blurred but their bodies were as real as ever. She knew they were her parents even if they had no faces. They still smelt the same even though she couldn't remember what they once looked like. And they loved her. That's what she wanted. Her mother passed her to her father and he held her close while showering her in kisses.
The scenery changed and she was set on her feet. Her parents faded and Alana's body grew until she was sixteen again. She stood in the city and around her were people walking and talking, being busy. Humans held hands with aliens and children played freely with all races. She smiled.
Once more, she changed. Her body aged to her mid twenties and her eyes grew wide as her belly grew larger. Her hand gently caressed her stomach as she felt the baby inside her kick. Arms wrapped around her from behind and she turned. Yori smiled at her. He had barely aged at all. His hands rested on her stomach as his lips moved over hers. Alana's eyes closed.
After a few seconds, her eyes opened again and she was back where she started, with Yori on Illumia. She looked around. It was like none of what she had seen had ever occurred.
Yori knew that look on her eyes. It was the numbness which followed being shown your heart's desire only to be forced back into reality. She had jumped in before he'd gotten the chance to warn her. These devices were extremely addictive if you weren't careful. "How was it?"
She stepped away from it and walked over to him. "I...don't think I want to do that again," she said slowly. It was nice, wonderful even. But it wasn't real and she knew that. It was like waving her wants in her face only to realize that she was to never have them. It was a cruel thing to do. And she didn't want to do it to herself again. She would never go back in there again. And she would never speak of it again.
He looked at her curiously. He guessed that each person was different, and such their experiences were different. "Okay," he told her. "No paradise cube for you. Let's just walk around some more. Get some fresh air."
She took his hand and they started walking. She turned back only once to look at the cube. Her fingers brushed over her belly lightly at the small memories. Letting them fade to the back of her mind, she looked forward again and tightened her grip on Yori. It was her heart’s desire to be with him. Did that mean that he was her destiny too?
Yori squeezed her hand. This was the first time she'd reached out and grabbed his hand in a while. He was curious just what she'd seen in the cube. His experience hadn't been all that great, namely because Nex had wanted him to just experience one thing and he chose fighting. Looking back at the cube, he wondered what would have happened if he'd gone back in there.
Moving to the next zone, they soon found themselves at a combination of tranquil meadow and peaceful lake. It was perfect, but his mind was now curious about the cube and her experience in it.
She let go of his hand while she walked over to a tree and grabbed an apple off it. She hesitated but bit it. The juice ran down her chin and she smiled. She had never had such an apple before. "It's really good," she said wiping her mouth. "I find it strange that you walked in the cube and only fought. I mean...you are no one with Blue Yori...I thought his desires would have wavered yours a bit."
Walking over to her, he sat down by the tree, purring as he leaned back against it. "Well, my desires were somewhat skewed," he told her. "Nex was with me so he altered the programming of the cube so that it would just let me fight. I wanted to use up some energy after our ride here, so he just set it to my desire for fight. I don't know what would happen if I went in there without him controlling it."
"Why didn't you go back in?" she asked and took another bite.
"Well, I figured that you wanted to do it first. Then when you got through you didn't seem to want to stay near it. I can always do it later," he shrugged.
"Go now. You shouldn't let it pass you by. Might not get another chance." She sat down. "I'll wait here." Honestly, she just wanted to know what his desires were and if they involved her like hers involved him.
He yawned and looked over at her. "You didn't exactly seem to enjoy yourself in there. So why bother with it?"
She pushed him roughly and watched him roll down a small hill. "Just do it or I'll throw you in it!"
He groaned as he picked up himself up. "Please, Alana, you don't really think I'd just let you throw me in something like that." Rolling his eyes, he decided that he was hungry. He could go and eat come back, tell her he did it, and be done. Whatever she saw wasn't good, so why should he bother with it?
"Fine," Alana said and laid back on the grass.
Yori grabbed an apple off a tree and tossed it at her as he started back toward the recreation zone. After grabbing some food and playing around with the neat stuff they had there, he looked back at the paradise cubes. Just what did he desire? Right now it was probably something along the lines of a large salmon. Going up to the silver sphere, he pushed his hand into it, feeling the cool liquid metal rolling over him before he finally stepped in and let it take him.
Twenty minutes later he was walking back to Alana. His hands in his pockets, he nodded as he slid down beside her and closed his eyes. "I did it," he sighed. "It was pretty cool."
Alana sat up. "What did you see?"
He shrugged and yawned. "A little bit of this, a little bit of that." He cracked open an eye to look at her. She seemed eager to know what his paradise was. "Tell me what you saw, and I'll tell you what I saw."
"I saw my parents," she said shrugging.
His eyes narrowed and he closed his eyes again. "Well I saw my home planet and a giant fish," he replied. He wasn't lying, just not telling her the entire truth. He knew that with what all he experienced in that short time, she saw more than just her parents.
She laid back down. "Oh," was all she said as she looked over at the water in the small pond.
Rolling over, he wrapped an arm around her. "That cube makes everything seem...very real, doesn't it?"
She shrugged. "It only shows what you want. Of course it would make it look real. Like a dream, only you actually feel the things going on."
"Yeah, though you really can't control what it shows you. I have to admit, I was slightly surprised by some of the stuff. I saw ten lives worth of events. Apparently if that thing shows the future I live a very interesting life."
She smirked. "I'm glad you had a mini adventure."
"It was...interesting to say the least," he admitted. He pulled her over and pressed his lips hard against hers. Pulling back, he started to stand. "You age very gracefully."
Her eyes narrowed. So he had seen her. "How do you know? It's just a heart's desire. It doesn't show the future," she said standing and brushing herself off. "You are really getting mushy on me with the grabbing and holding and kissing in public crap. Apparently Blue Yori has left you with more than you bargained for." Every time she thought of Blue Yori...her heart broke a little.
"Yeah, well in my heart's desire you age very gracefully. You also give great head." How could she call him mushy? He wouldn't stand for it! He shrugged off her insult. She was lying. "It's not that. Since I can't ravage you like I use to, I have to settle for what I can get."
She poked him. "Yep...you feel mushy too," she said and yawned. "It's late. We should go be to the room."
"I do not feel mushy." With narrowed eyes he shoved her into the pond and kept walking. He took that as an insult.
Alana sat up in the pond with a lily pad on her head. "Well...this sucks a bit," she said and stood. She took the lily pad off her head and stepped out of the pond then shook what water she could off her. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she started back to the portal.
Yori was already back at their room by the time she got there. He was curled up on his bed in his boxers. The bed was heavenly, so sleep wasn't going to be a problem. The only reason he hadn't fallen asleep yet because he wanted to make certain that Alana didn't kill herself teleporting back to the room.
She said nothing to him but stripped down and went to take a shower. She was surprised when she stepped in the shower that it turned on some water, made a few flashes and then kicked her out. She smelled herself and smile. Flowers. Cute. Putting on some pajamas, she crawled in her bed and yawned. "I hate you," she said as she closed her eyes for sleep.
"I can live with that," he muttered. "You may hate me, but you love me long time."
"Go to sleep, Yori. With the shot your father gave me, I can control my urges so there will be no loving for a long time," she mumbled while trying to fall asleep.
There was the soft sound of whimpering coming from Yori's bed. "Stupid shot...."
Alana smiled. "Sucks to be you."
"Couldn't we at least compromise and sleep without clothes? At least that will give me something to look at."
"No. You sleep in your bed, I sleep in mine, and all my clothes stay on."
"I can change that," he said bluntly.
"You touch me. You die."
"You wouldn't hurt me," he said, rolling over to look at her. "Even if you did I'd just consider it foreplay."
"For the last time, Yori. Go the fuck to sleep."
"You have a one tracked mind, Yori. It makes you rather predictable," she stated with at smirk as they walked.
