She laughed at her friend's joke, mentally wondering why they found it funny in the first place. Shrugging it off, she continued to listening, putting in her two cents when asked to assure them she was indeed paying attention. A few minutes went by before her friends usddenly began speaking in hushed tones wilst getsturing to something behind her.

Shuffling of feet and the shifting of dirt drew her to turn around as to deceipher the cause of the sound only to find him standing there, staringa t her with a sheepish look of sorts. 'He' was a good friend of her's, one she could happily say that she dated for apporximately two months. That was in the past, of course, though only three months past to be exact.

Her curiousity was piqued, her mind left wondering as to the reason why he had come so far from his normal hang out to her neck of the school, though she was not against him coming. After all, she still had residual feelings for him that, no matter what, refused to leave her.

"Hey." he said casually, loosing his sheepish demeanor, opting to return to his normal, calm, collected self that she knew all too well.

"Hiya." was her eccentric reply with a small wave; her standard greeting to everyone, making them smile at her childishness. "What's up?"

"Nothing really. The gang's gone off again for the day, again without notifying me of the plan. Therefore, leaving me alone. Though I would go after them if I wasn't so lazy. What about you?"

"haha, poor you." She shook her head at his cheerful answer, smiling at how he can make something bad seem like nothing. "What ware you going to do when they all graduate next year? Wander?"

"Maybe. I could be the nomad of the school." He replied with a smile, though she knew that he wasn't completely joking about his answer.

"That sounds exciting. Expect me to tag along every now and then." He laughed at her response.

"Truthfully, there was another reason I came over." He said, his voice taking on a serious tone as his features changed to one that showed that he was not joking any longer.

"Oh really?" Her smiled faded a smidge, her curiousity rising once more. "Do tell."

"Well, it's hard to explain, exactly. It's easier if I show you."

"Show me? What are you-" She was cut off before her question was finished. He walk forward to close the small distance between them, his rough hand which she had held in the pas cupped her cheek, bringing her words to end as she gazed into his hazel eyes, no longer covered for his old wild hair was trimmed short.

He gave her a simple smile before dipping down. Her eyes widened as realization of what he was doin dawned on her. His lips grazed hers in the barest of touches. He slipped his free hand around her petite waist as her's touched his chest lightly before looping around his neck. More pressure was added to their lips as their eyes closed. Though the kiss was brief, it was nothing but sincere.

She pulled away, her eyes opening with a daze look in them. They suddenly snapped open fully as she let out a gasp, pulling out of his arms completely. His eyes showed confusion as her's reflected a myriad of emotions. She took a few steps back, bumping into one of her friends. She gasped once more, forgetting they were there.

"I...-I.." She could not complete her sentece, or even form one for that matter, She opted to do something she told herself she would never do: she ran.

"Wait!" he called as she manuevered through her friends and away. He followed after, bent on finding out why she ran.

She did not make it far before she caught up, stopping her by gently gripping her arm. She was swung around to face him, a small 'eep' escaped her lips as she met his intense stare once again. Her friends had followed as well, though stopping a bit away to give them privacy, yet overhear and see everything as well.

"Let go...please..." she said feebly, turning her gaze away, not wanting him to see the faint beginnings of tears in her eyes.

"What's wrong?" She laughed dryly at the concern in his voice, before looking at him once more; tears be damned.

"What's wrong? What's wrong is my ex, a guy I still feel deeply for, who tol me that we should be 'just friends'," she spat the two words bitterly, 'comes up and KISSES me! That's what's wrong!"

"And what's wrong with that?!" She was surprised that an intellectual such as him can be so dense.

"YOU CAN'T DO THAT! I can't handle this game you seem to be playing! I can't handle my feelings being toyed with! I don't want to get hurt again!"

"Who says this is a game?!" He was apalled to think she would think so lowly of him. "You know me better than that!" She fell silent at his words, wondering herself why she even thought of it. Her gaze fell again, only to have his finger hook under her chin to lift it up again. "I'd never do such a horrid thing to someone. Especially to you."

"...Sorry...I'm just...well scared I guess...."

"Don't let the fear of consequences keep you from taking the risk. Besides, we're birds. We can't fall easily. Any if we do, we are always there to catch eachother before we fall too far." He gave her a cheesy smile that she couldn't help but laugh at.

"Stupid." She said lightly, huggin his waist and resting her head on his shoulder. "That was the cheesiest hing I've ever heard. You don't change."

"Neither do you. Bu I don't ever remember you running away before." He said in a teasing tone.

"Shut up." He laughed at her words.

"So are you guys back together of what?" called a voice behind him. She looked to see her friends smiling. She stuck out her tongue in a teasing matter before burrying her head in the corrk of his neck. "I'll take that as a yes!" was what she heard, causing her to laugh.

"Yeah, I guss it does."
