[ A - All Readers ]
One day an elder woman named Mary Lou Anvil, was sitting on her sofa reading the news paper when someone knocked on her front door. She slowly walked over there and opened the door. Standing there was a young man selling home grown watermelons. He told her all about these organic watermelons and why they were better than the stores watermelons. So she handed him a five dollar bill and he swiftly left.
She walked back into her home, and set the watermelon on the countertop. She got out a knife and a cutting board and began cutting the watermelon. She now had three large slices. She set them in a bowl, and walked back to her sofa and began eating the first slice. It was very good, so she ate the next, it was even better than the first slice…And she wondered if the next one was even better than that one. So she finished the second slice of watermelon and began on the third. After she ate that slice she felt a little dizzy. Mary Lou slowly walked to her kitchen to get a glass of water. As she was filling up her glass she fell on the ground and passed out. The young man had been watching her the whole time; suddenly he rushed into her house and started looking around. Finally he found her jewelry box. He opened it only expecting to see jewelry… However, all he found was a cheap looking watch. He shoved it into his pocket for fear that it might be of worth.
After several hours, Mary Lou awoke to find herself lying on her kitchen floor. She slowly stood up, and walked into her living room while contemplating why she was on the floor. She, at that moment, remembered the last thing that she did was eat 3 slices of watermelon. She wondered why she passed out, so with her concern she called her granddaughter Audrey; and asked if Audrey would take her to the doctor. After many test, the doctor finally entered the room, only to tell Mary Lou there was no allergic reaction or anything wrong. “Try not to overwork yourself next time Mrs. Anvil.” The doctor said while walking her and Audrey to the door.
