The Christmas House
Special Christmas Edition of The Summer House

Snow blanketed Xochitl Manor, covering the grounds, the trees, and to Nick's constant swears and cries, the pool, which is now frozen. Everyone awaits the Christmas season except Kyle, who doesn't give a rat's ass about Christmas. The boys had gotten a tree which now blocked the view to the pool, where Nick had been mourning the loss of it. It was decorated by the girls, or Jess, because the others were “doing it wrong.” And “the tinsel doesn't go like that. It does like this.” So, Jessica became the Christmas Bitch.

Nick had gotten Savannah something, but she was too busy trying to avoid him for him to give it to her. He had tried on numerous attempts to hand her the gift, but she had found excuses to go to parts of the house. Nick would cry, but Jess would have kicked the crap out of him for “destroying Christmas cheer.” Because “It has to be perfect.” Once again, the Christmas Bitch, everyone.

Kyle had done the same thing as Savannah to Sara, who was constantly trying to push him under one of the numerous mistletoe that was strung under every doorway for a make out session. To Nick's amusement, he had run screaming every time she came near him.

Yes, it seemed the only normal relationship was with Jess and Christian. Christian, who was too afraid of Jess's Nazi Christmas attitude to give her the gift he was planning, and Jess, who was too unsure of his feelings towards her. At times they seemed perfectly happy together, at others they fought. But Jess still had to wonder…

Xochitl Manor 7:58AM Christmas Eve Day

Nick woke up to the sound laughter coming from downstairs. He got up and rubbed his eyes, yawning loudly. But suddenly he went on the defensive, in case Jess had anything planned against him. Looking around, he only found his room as he had left it last night. Maybe the Christmas Season had gotten to her...he changed quickly, slipping on a Santa hat and running downstairs.

The house was furnished quite impressively. But that was only thanks to Jess's Nazi Christmas attitude and 8 hard, back-breaking hours. But now Nick was rested and wasn't cursing Jess out underneath his breath, so he could appreciate its beauty. The railings were lined with red velvet bows, tinsel and bells. Above all the doors were more tinsel and bows, along with holly and mistletoe. Two trees were put in the foyer, not especially decorated, but lights were wrapped around them both. The floor was covered in an ethereal snow, made of some sort of material they had lying around the house.

As Nick walked into the living room, he noticed the tree, with bows, multicolored lights, and all of Jess's ornaments hung on it, and wondered where Jess could get all of these decorations. Then again, she got the house. `Oh right…Rich Uncle.' He sighed. It wasn't fair! The evil always got what they want. Everyone was sitting in the living room, chatting merrily. Nick's heart fluttered as he noticed Savannah had holly in her hair. Maybe today he would give her his gift…he reached into his pocket and grasped the tiny box, nervousness grasping at his throat, constricting it and wiping it of all moisture.

“Uh…Good Morning?” he asked tentatively. The others returned the greeting and turned back to their various conversations. Only Jess smiled and got up, waving her arms to emphasize the decorations.

“You like?” she asked, glaring at him. Nick cowered away, nodding and waving his hands in surrender. Jess was scary when mad. She smiled and hugged him, squealing a “thank you so much!” and then ran off to sit next to Christian, smiling warmly at her. Christian nodded in recognition of her appearance, and then continued talking to Savannah. Nick nervously approached the two.

“uh..Sav-savannah?” he asked, completely nervous at this point. What if she didn't like it? What if she rejected him? She looked up at him.

“Yes?” she asked expectantly. Nick gulped and dug into his pockets, fumbling with the gift. Before he pulled it out, he spoke to her.

“I just wanted to gi—“ but she cut him off when the others had started leaving for a snow ball fight outside.

“Oh! A snowball fight! I can't wait!” she got on her coat, jumping outside with the others. Nick sat there, alone for a moment.

“…Give you this gift.” He muttered lamely, putting the box back into his pocket before going outside.

Front Yard, 9:17 AM

Kyle laughed like maniac, pelting the others with snowballs. Christian, him and Jess were on one team, Sara, Nick and Savannah were on the other. Makeshift forts were built out of the snow, which each member of the fight had hidden under as the other team rained snow on them.

Kyle threw a snowball at Sara, laughing when it hit her face dead on.

Sara had started shoveling snow at him, and it was no longer a snowball fight, it was a Snowball War. The others managed to sneak away before any of the serious throws were launched.

Nick had to admit that it was funny when Sara had glomped Kyle into the snow, making a Kyle-shaped hole where she proceeded to bury him in. The others were now laughing full on as they gathered around the kitchen and drank hot chocolate. They never really saw Kyle until the night.

Dining Room, 8:45 PM

It was decided that they'd have a Christmas Eve dinner at the house.

So the girls got dressed up in long skirts of varying color, and the boys got dressed up in tuxedos. Jess laughed at how uncomfortable Nick looked in his tux, squirming and adjusting the tie that Christian had helped put on—a little too tight, it seemed. Still, his torment amused her.

Eyeing Christian, Jess had to physically restrain herself from drooling. The undershirt he was wearing seemed like it was made for him, displaying the ripples of his well-defined muscles, and leaving very little for the imagination. She noticed Sara and Savannah gawking as well.

“What?” Christian asked at the staring girls. “Did I spill something on my shirt?”

“God I hope so.” Jess whispered to herself, blushing at the little escape of her fantasies. Christian didn't seem to have heard her, and sat down. Kyle was the same as Nick, fidgeting around in his tux.

The dinner was nice.

Everyone talked appropriately, with only a few swears, death threats, and near-food-fights to speak of. Jess couldn't keep her eyes off of Christian, but always managed to when he caught her staring. Meanwhile, Christian just thought something was on him, and constantly kept rearranging his shirt.

After the meal was over, Jess pulled Christian out, asking him for a walk. Christian knew if he declined, he would die. So, he chose what he hoped would be the safer route and agreed.

The backyard was set up like a light-show maze; with brilliant white lights lining fences and the shrubs that had been set up around the field. Jess had to admit that her slave—Nick—had done a good job. Maybe there was something to this `die-if-you-don't' attitude. It got things done, fast and well. But maybe that wasn't meant for everyone…her thoughts turned top Christian, who was eyeing her in confusion. Jess could almost see his thoughts: `Where is she taking me and will I be alive after it?' But she only wanted to talk, so she started to.

“Christian…” she said, focusing his attention on her. “I like you.” She said, hoping that was enough to get her feelings across to him. Christian smiled, and they continued walking the light-drawn path.

“I like you too.” He said, smiling. Jess looked over at him, and it was clear that he meant friends. She shook her head and stared up at him again.

“No…I like you…” she said, stressing out the like. Christian repeated his answer as they rounded a corner that led back to the house. Jess sighed and tried to reword her admission.

No, I really like you.” She said, rolling her eyes when it finally clicked for him. He was a little bit slow on the uptake when it came to this sort of thing. He blushed and looked away, and for a minute, Jess went cold as she thought: `Is he ashamed?' But that embarrassment left as quickly as it came, and he smiled down at her.

“I like you too.” He said. Jess almost broke out into nervous giggles when she realized how close he was. But his response came back to her and she tried to make him understand.

“Christian, I lo—” her words were cut off when his warm lips fell on hers in a chastise kiss that she melted into right away. She closed her eyes and wrapped her hands around his neck, pulling his body closer to hers. When they finally broke from the kiss, Christian was blushing from head to toe.

“All that for some mistletoe?” he inquired, leaving her on the back porch, staring confusedly at him while he went through the sliding glass doors. That's when she looked up. `Oh…' she said, blushing. `Was that kiss for the mistletoe, or…?' She didn't know what to think.

Xochitl Manor, 6:53 AM, Christmas Day

`Bang! Bang! Bang!'

Nick groaned and got up, still in his pajamas. He sighed at the clock, which read 6:54, and went to open the door. `Was' `at?” He asked groggily. From his hazy vision he could make out Jess's outline.

“Merry Christmas Nick!” she said, handing him two gifts. He nodded, mumbling it back, before moving to shut the door and return to sleep. Jess's foot blocked the door and she smiled. “I want to see you open it!” she laughed happily. He moaned and went to pull at one of the strings, sighing when it took him five minutes. Finally, with a took, the box came unraveled, and out jumped a jack-in-the-box.

“AHHHH!!” Nick yelled springing backwards. The jack-in-the-box laughed evilly, making Nick's heart pound in his body. Jess was laughing at his reaction.

“Nick, don't you like it?” she asked coyly. Nick's heart slowed back down and his erratic breathing became normal.

“Jess! You know how much I hate those twisted little things!” he yelled at her, now wide awake. She shrugged, muttering “sorry” before handing him the second gift. Almost afraid to open it, he pulled at the string and the paper fell away. Inside was a target.

“What?” he asked, holding it up to his face. “What is it?” Jess smirked before she through a snowball at the bulls-eye. Instead of the target taking the damage, a tiny door opened up in the bull-eye and showered snow on his face.

“COOOOLLLLDDD!” he yelled, wiping is face. He turned on Jess, screaming at her. “YOU ARE SO MESSED UP! IT'S FUCKING CHRISTMAS AND YOU USE GIVES TO PRANK ME? THAT'S SO TWISTED!”

Living Room, 8:34 AM

After Nick had (Jess: tried to. Nick: STFU!) kicked the crap out of Jess, the rest of the house was awake with holiday spirit. Everyone was chatting merrily, hugging each other and exchanging gifts. Nick gulped, reaching over to see Savannah chatting with Sara. He found the box in his pocket again, and gathered the courage up before going up to her.

“Uh…Savannah?” he asked nervously. `Where did the courage all go?' Savannah looked over at him, smiling brightly.

“Merry Christmas.” She said. Nick returned it, and grasped the box in his pocket.

“Savannah, I wanted to give you thi—” once again, he was cut off by her.

“I know.” She said. “I wanted to wait until Christmas, so I could give you a good Christmas gift.” She seemed nervous about what she was going to do.

Nick cocked his head. “Really?” he asked. Savannah nodded. “Well, in that case, I wanted to give you this…” he pulled the box out and handed it to her. She grasped the box and opened it, gasping as she pulled out a long chain necklace. At the end was an “S” engraved with diamonds.

“Thank you Nick! It's beautiful.” She said, hugging him tightly. “And now, for my gift. Keep in mind that it is not a reflection of my personal feelings.” And with that, she leaned in and pushed her lips to his. Nick's eyes widened, and he passed out. Savannah stared at him.

Kyle glared at the gift. `I hate Christmas.' He said sourly, opened the box to reveal earmuffs from Savannah, `Whoopty-fucking-doo.' He said, rolling his eyes at it. Sara seemed to be noticing his lack of Christmas spirit.

“What's wrong, Kyle?” Sara asked, eating a box of Christmas cookies. Kyle sighed.

“I never get what I want for Christmas.” He sighed. Sarah looked at him.

“Well, I have a gift for you.” She leaned in and pecked his lips. “Did you like that?” Kyle assessed the kiss, and then rubbed his chin.

“Not really.”

All that was known is that Sara glared at him with the fires of Hell. Kyle still has yet to be found.

Jess stared at Christian. That kiss last night…it didn't seem like something for a mistletoe kind of kiss. He blushed when he saw her staring at him, so she averted his gaze. “Christian?” she said. Christian looked at her. “I need to know about that…kiss last night.” Christian blushed.

“Well…I saw the mistletoe…and thought…it was the right time to kiss you.” He blushed again. Jess smiled brightly. “Plus…I wanted to…” Jess's grin got wider.

“Aww, that's so sweet.” She said, pecking his cheek. He leaned down and kissed her lips again. This time, it was everything a kiss should be: wet, warm, loving, with a distant desire and passion that only deepened the kiss. When they broke apart, Jess was breathless. Christian pulled her into a hug.

“Merry Christmas, Jess.”
