CHAPTER 1!!! CONFRONTATION
Brett Trombley leaned against the wall by the door and held his books by his side, lazily. The bell rang and people rushed out, trailing behind them was a young girl with black hair and green eyes. He touched her softly on the shoulder, and she whipped around. Green met brown."Hey, Serina, did you miss me?" He asked cheerfully. He had been gone for a year and hadn't seen his girlfriend since. He was sent away to his fathers and was back fort he first time on a surprised visit.
"Oh, hi there, Brett." She stuttered. Sebastion was still unaware of her condition. He did not know that she was a vampire. She walked with him around the corner to her locker. "So, where have you been?" She asked as she dug through her papers.
"I live with my father now, don't you remember?" He shoved his hands in his pockets. Serina looked up at him and noticed a sudden change in expression. He looked at her strangely, as if he saw a ghost. "I have been calling you every day for the past year."
"oh, yeah. sorry. It's still early."
"So, how have you been?" he asked. Mary closed her locker and stood upo and he took her hand. She had to tell him before he left again. she wanted to tell him face to face. But she was still unsure of how to do it.
"I'm fine, i guess. I have just been really tired lately." He looked at her curiously and pulled her closer. He studied her face and brushed the back of his fingers along her cheek.
"You seem paler. Did you give blood of something?" He asked.
"yeah. Something like that." She whispered. She shuddered at the touch of his fingers and closed her eyes. She could hear his blood pounding in his veins beneath his skin. Serina used all of her energy to fight the urge to tear him open and drink him dry. "How long are you goin to be here for?"
"As long as you'd like me to be." He whispered and kissed her. Behind them, she sensed a familiar presence, and she tore away from his grip.
"We can't stay in the hallways. let's go in here." She took his hand and dragged him into the closest closet.
"Kind of small dont you think? I'm not complaining...i mean, its kind of kinky." Brett raised an eyebrow.
"This is no time to joke around!"
"Oh, you want to get a jumpstart?" He teased. Serina felt her cheeks getting warm.
"No! It's nothing like that!" She yelled. "I have to tell you something important. You must promise me that no matter what you hear from me, it will not change how you feel about me." His grin faded and he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Sure Serina, what's up?" He asked and he stroked the small of her back absently and looked into her eyes. She hesitated at first and moved out of his grip. "Come on, tell me."
"Well...for as long as I can remember, I have been different than any other person here. I have been stronger, smarter, my senses are better and i am even faster. I dont eat normal food and I can't be around blood. I am sure you have figured it out by now, but I am a vampire. I woke up one day and I was...this I dont even remember anything before that."
"Nice joke babe. What's really wrong with you?" He asked after regaining his composure. Serina jumped up quickly.
"This isn't a joke!" She almost yelled. "I'm being brutally honest! If you dont want to believe me than FINE!" She threw open the door and began to walk out with Brett behind her. She stopped and turned, looking at him darkly. "You know what? I'm going home."
"Are you kidding me me? It's the middle of third period." Brett grasped her arm.
"look, suddenly, I have a bad headache and I am not feeling so well. I think i will go to the nurse's office for some help."
"I'll walk you." He offered. Mary pulled her arm away and shook her head, walking away. As she walked to the nurse's, her head was filled with overwhelming thoughts. She just told him possibly the biggest secret she has ever had and he didnt believe her. he laughed at her. With her luck, he will break up with her, then go around the school telling everyone she thinks she is a vampire. Then everyone will think she is weird.
She opened the door and stalked in, closing the door behind her. The nurse lifted her head and smiled when she saw her.
"Hello, ms. Jackson. May I help you with something?" She asked. The nurse was always kind to Mary and always le her go even when she didnt have anything wrong. The nurse knew of her condition and pitied her. She even promised to keep it a secret from all of the other teachers. She found out about her when she was doing blood, and it came out all wrong. like it was contaminated. Then she began to watch Serina. After time, she knew something was wrong so Serina had to tell her. Serina nodded her head and the nurse, knowing what she wanted, wrote up a blue permit to leave the school. She handed it to her and smiled."You have a good day." Mary smiled back and ran out of the school. outside, the sun was shining brightly and the only shade offered from the heat was the overhanging on the front of the school.
Mary was surprised it wasn't raining. It was the forcast of the day. She shrugged it off and walked to the car. She opened the door, got in, shut it, and sat there with her hands on the steering wheel. Her eyes were closed as a vision played in her head. She shifted in her seat. Behind her eyelids, she saw her old foster mother. She had a wicked smile on her face and was very angry. When her hand came down on her swiftly, she opened her eyes and looked ahead of her. Turning the car on, and putting it in drive, she drove home, to her new foster home.
