Ki'iro stepped into the nurse's office from the hallway once he heard that Nakya was awake. He smiled as he saw that she was awake and okay.
"Feeling better Nakya? Sorry about that, but you asked for it," he said as he attempted a joke. He sat next to her bed and rested his head by her arm.
Nakya stirred groggily. Opening her eyes, she went to sit up and was met with excruciating pain. Letting out a whimper, she heard the nurse come running over. [color=purple]
"Oh! You're awake. Let me call Miss Rinsi for you."
Merely nodding, she looked around and couldn't see Ki'iro.
"I hope he doesn't think this is his fault.." she said softly, waiting for Rinsi to come.
Smirking slightly, she cuffed Ki'iro in the head.
"Help me to my room? Rinsi will know to come there." She moved around on the bed and stood up, balancing on one leg until Ki'iro stood up. Leaning on him, she began to hop to the door.
Yumi walked up to the school, a dark cloud covering her features. Everything within a two foot radius seemed to bow before her, a dense layer of energy weighing down everything. Her brow was furrowed in a frown, and her eyes were blank. Watching the snow fall, freezing to drops of ice in the density of her energy field, Yumi looked up at the school that seemed to have sped the decomposition of herself and Ichio.
Why are we here again? she thought, standing deep in the snow, staring at the sky.
Don't ask me. You're the one who came, a voice rang in her head.
Because you decided to be stupid, that's why. We wouldn't be in this situation if you'd stayed where you were supposed to. She answered sharply.
Whatever. The voice was silent after that, Ichio deciding to sulk once more.
Climbing the steps awkwardly, carrying two suitcases, one hot pink and the other a dull black, Yumi walked into the school, the energy signature similar, but somehow different. She wasn't sure what was different, but she'd soon find out, she figured.
Ki'iro picked her up in a swift motion and walked out the door. To his right, he sensed somebody he knew. Looking over, he saw a nice-looking girl. She seemed so familiar. After thinking about it for a moment, he exclaimed
"Yumi!" with a smile on his face. He still carried Nakya in his arms, he wanted her to know that Nakya was his now, he hoped.
As Ki'iro picked her up, she wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head on his chest. She closed her eyes until she heard Ki'iro say Yumi's name. Her head shot up and stared at Yumi. She had no idea what to say to her. She was angry, hurt, so many things. Yumi was supposed to be her friend and even she hadn't contacted her over the summer.
"Hello Yumi." she said flatly, before returning her head to Ki'iro's chest.
Yumi looked up at Ki'iro when he said her name. He'd grown darker, more sinister looking, almost.
"Hey Ki'iro." She mumbled, her eyes still blank.
She wasn't up to worrying if he was Kai or Ki'iro, or any of that crap right now. He was carrying someone. When the girl's head appeared, Yumi saw familiar ears. It looked like...
"Nakya?" She'd... Grown. A lot. "Um, hey." She said, a bit of life coming back to her eyes.
Nakya had to be uber angry at her, as well as Ichio. There was certainly an explanation, but she didn't want to talk about it in front of Ki'iro. Yumi wasn't sure how she and Ichio stood in his eyes.
"Nakya, there's something I need to talk to you about, if you get the chance." She mumbled, her eyes once again losing their luster. "I need to get to my room, though. 'Scuse me." She said, dropping the handle of one suitcase, nearly spilling clothes everywhere. She flung her hand out at the last moment, softening the floor to catch the case without a hard impact, then rose it to set the suitcase upright before returning the floor to normal.
"I tried to get a hold of you all summer. Not once did you even make an effort to get a hold of me. Neither did Ichio. You can find me if you want later, I don't really care." she said without emotion, before returning her attention to Ki'iro.
Jumping down from Ki'iro's arms, she winced slightly. Limping her way to the stairs, she heard Yumi's suitcases pop open. Waving her hand, another hand made of ice quickly appeared, picking up her clothes and putting them away, before disappearing again. Nakya opened the door to the stairs and began limping her way up.
"Nakya, wait. You're hurt!" Ki'iro called after her.
He walked quickly down the hall and caught up to her. He wrapped an arm around her lower back, and helped her up the stairs.
"You should talk to them..." he said softly. "I think it'd be best...the sooner you talked to her er, him. Both." he said uneasily.
"I didn't hear from either of them all summer Ki'iro." she said her anger still there. Pushing the door open, she walked through and made her way to her dorm with Ki'iro's help."I'll talk to them when they come find me. I'm not wasting any more time with them." She sat on her bed, frowning at the wound on her leg.
Yumi sighed heavily, watching Nakya walk away, followed by Ki'iro. She really didn't have the patience for this. Looking to one side, she walked down another hall, to the elevators, then rode up to her floor, to dorm five, her new dorm. The elevator made her nausous, but she didn't really care at the moment. She just wanted to find somewhere quiet. Slamming the door open, then locking it behind her, Yumi tossed her suitcases into her closet, then collapsed on her bed, already sick of the school.
Ki'iro just sighed and sat next to her. He respected her wishes, and hated what she was going through. He ran a hand through her hair and kissed her cheek softly.
"Lay down, you need to get some rest, okay? Worry about them later..." he tried to hide the nervousness in his voice.
What if they had a good enough excuse for the summer? And what if Nakya forgave them? If she forgave them, surely I would be out of the picture, again. Ki'iro sighed heavily as he let his thoughts wander.
As Ki'iro ran his fingers through her hair and kissed her cheek, she closed her eyes. Laying down with her head in his lap, she sighed softly.
"I don't care what their excuse is Ki'iro, I'm done with them. Both of them." Keeping her eyes closed, she held onto his hand, rubbing his thumb softly with hers.
He could feel tears welling up in his eyes, he wanted to believe her. He wanted to believe her so much. But something inside of him just couldn't. He wouldn't.
"Alright..." he said simply.
He didn't trust his voice to say anymore, he feared it would crack and expose his worry. Ki'iro thrust up a shadow wall around his thoughts, fearing Nakya would become nosey and snoop around in his head. He smiled softly as she held his hand, but he shook. It would have been barely noticeable, and he could always play it off as he was cold.
Frowning softly, she could tell he was nervous. Sighing, she asked
"I can go talk to them right now if you want, Ki'iro."
Turning her body, she looked up at him and saw tears in his eyes. Bolting up right, she asked worriedly
"What's wrong? Don't cry, please!"
Nakya frowned. She knew this was her fault. Leaning over, she gave Ki'iro a gentle kiss as a tear rolled down her cheek. Standing up, she limped to the door saying
"I'll go end this now, Ki'iro."
Walking out the door, she made it to Yumi's room and knocked on the door. She leaned against the wall, waiting for a response.
"N-nakya..." he whispered under his breath.
He didn't know what to say. He did want this to end, but he wanted her to be happy. And he felt that she would be happiest with Ichio and Yumi. Ki'iro laid down on Nakya's bed and stared up at the ceiling, waiting for her arrival back.
Yumi flopped over, staring at the ceiling.
"Ichio, I'm tired of this. You take over. You're the one who kept me from calling her."
She rolled off the bed and onto her feet, then walking over to the suitcases. Undressing quickly, she drew back. Bones elongated, skin stretched and vanished, joints popped, and hair was sucked back into the scalp. Groaning, Ichio stood straight, pulling on clothes quickly. He thought about grabbing his gun, but Yumi's sharp twist threw the idea away from him. As he stretched his neck, Ichio heard a knock on the door. Walking to the door, Ichio unlocked it, then opened it. His hand tensed on the knob as he recognized Nakya, denting the doorknob as he fought for control.
"Nakya." He said stiffly, a bit of tension in his voice.
"Ichio." she said, still with no emotion. "So what's your excuse?"
Nakya frowned. She really didn't care. She had taken a chance on both of them, and they both let her down. Anything he said would just be lip service as far as she was concerned. Leaning heavily against the door frame, she asked
"Do you mind if we sit down? My leg's still sore." She glanced down at her wound, and back up at Ichio.
Ichio followed her gaze down, trying not to seem too interested.
"Yeah, sit." he said, gesturing towards his bed. "I'll stand, though, if it's all the same to you."
He walked to his suitcase once more, pulling out a pack of cigarettes.
"Summer's been hell." He said, lighting it and pulling out his ashtray. He turned back to Nakya, pulling up one sleeve to expose horrible burn scars tracing up his arm.
"It's a wonder it managed to miss this pretty face." he said sarcastically, pulling his sleeve back down. He tossed his lighter onto the side table before ashing his cigarette.
Limping over to the bed, she sat down and looked up at him.
"I don't want to dance around the subject Ichio. Why didn't you return any of my calls or text messages? I was worried about both of you all summer. I took a chance on both of you, and you hurt me." she said, her anger showing through. She watched as he lit up a smoke. Reaching up, she took it from his hand and put it out.
"Those are bad for you." Nakya frowned waiting for his answer. She didn't want to be around him any longer than she needed to. She had concerns about seeing Ichio for the first time again, but there was nothing there anymore. Nothing at all. She smiled slightly at the realization she had indeed, grown emotionally stronger over the summer. She could thank him for that at least.
Ichio sighed as Nakya put out his cigarette. Looking her dead in the eye, he decided to stop beating around the bush.
"Well, my phone exploded in my pocket the first week after school let out, when Yumi's B**** A** decided to visit our parents. That's what the burn marks are from, as well as the lightning I got struck with. If you'd sent letters, I wouldn't have seen them anyway, because I was mostly blind until a month ago, I still find my eyes tweaking out on me every now and then. Not to mention my control has gone haywire." He said, rushing to say everything.
He turned his back to Nakya, attempting to calm himself. He reached over and picked up the ashtray to empty his ruined cigarette into the trash. His hand twitched the slightest amount, breaking the hard metal cleanly in two, scratching the palm of his hand.
"Son of a...!!!" He nearly shouted, throwing the ruined ashtray against the wall, putting a fist-sized hole in it.
Rinsi was getting impatient for class to start. The physical training class had just ended, and there was still one more period before her class started. She loved to read, but couldn't stand just sitting and doing nothing either. She began to roam around the halls, a book in her hand and open as she read it while walking. Why not? She wanted to read, and she wanted to walk too, so she did.
Ki'iro decided to get up and walk around. He had decided that this year was going to be drama-free. He was going to start a-new. He wanted to clear his head. He left a note on Nakya's dresser. It simply read:
Out clearing my head. I'll meet up with you later. Feel better,
Ki'iro.
As he was walking through the halls, Ki'iro noticed Rinsi.
"Star!" he called happily.
Hearing her name called, Rinsi looked up from her book and smiled. She waved at her friend, beckoning him to walk with her.
"Hey, Ki'iro!" she said cheerfully, "I saw you guys in the physical training class. How'd that go?"
He walked with her in silence for a moment, before responding to her question.
"It was alright. I erm," his voice faltered, "I kind of stabbed Nakya," he stated uneasily. "Star! I don't know what to do!" he started. "Nakya says that she loves me, but I know, I just know that when she sees how Ichio is and such, she'll leave me. And I can't even say I love her back, because I'm just too afraid to get hurt by her again. I mean, that's why I had that pointless fling with that girl over the summer. I still care about Nakya and everything, but what do I do Star?" tears had began forming in his eyes. He was almost never this open with somebody, but Rinsi had always been there for him.
"Sounds like quite the sticky wicked." Rinsi said as she placed a book mark where she was reading and closed the book.
Rinsi looked at Ki'iro and saw he was on the verge of tears. Never the one to be shy or keep a hug from a friend that needed it, she wrapped her arms around him, hoping to comfort him.
"I honestly don't know, Ki'iro. I know you won't like this, but for now we need to let it play out and see what happens. And put a little more trust in Nakya. I don't know the situation fully, so I can't make judgments, and I can't tell you what to do. Just remember, your friends area always here for you."
"The last time I put faith in her...well look how that turned out. Kai came back and took over almost the entire summer." Ki'iro didn't know what else to say, so he just continued walking, now in silence.
"Then we'll just have to wait and see." Rinsi said patiently. "You said her leg is injured. I can fix that for her, if she so wishes. Though by the sounds of things I take it she's busy."
"Heh, yeah," he whispered. Seeing a girl sitting on a bench, he smiled softly at her and waved.
"Hello, I'm Ki'iro," he said kindly. He already had a few friends here, but why not make a few more? Plus, she looked like she could use some company. Looking back over his shoulder at Rinsi, he said,
"Why don't ya go meet some other teacher folk?" he winked. "You made one good friend already, right?" He smiled softly at her, then returned his attention to the girl.
Rinsi stared at Ki'iro blankly. Had she been that obvious over lunch earlier? She hadn't thought so, but apparently she had been. She smiled at him and winked.
"And it looks like you're about to make another friend. We'll discuss how you found out about me making teacher friends later. Good luck! Oh, and don't worry so much. Friends are a good thing at all times!"
Rinsi walked off, opening her book to the bookmarked page. She hadn't seen any other teachers around aside from Tahtsu, and she was sure he was busy with paperwork, considering there was an incident of physical injury during his class. And on the first day, too! Poor guy must be getting the raw side of the tongue for that.
Smiling to herself she decided to drop by his classroom and see if she could help out at all.
Nakya was unfazed by everything he told her.
"Even if you were blind, Yumi could have dialed my number for you and put you on." she said in a monotone voice.
She watched as he went to empty the ashtray and it broke scratching his hand. When he threw the ashtray at the wall and it left a hole, she flinched slightly. Flicking her hand, her dagger appeared.
"Ichio, I'm sorry for everything that happened to you, but you could have tried to get a hold of me. Both of you could have. You both hurt me. I can't do this anymore. I'm sorry. Goodbye."
Nakya stood, her dagger in her hand, and limped her way to the door. Passing his dresser, her wound bumped against it and she fell against the door frame. Her leg had begun bleeding again. Feeling panicked, she searched through the school until she found Rinsi's thoughts. Connecting them, she said
"Rinsi, help. I'm upstairs in Ichio's dorm room. He's angry and I'm bleeding again, not because of him, but I'm scared. Please hurry."
Rinsi was about to knock on Tahtsu's door, when she got the panicked message from Nakya. She sounded as frightened as she said she was. Rinsi tucked her book into the back of her jeans and held her staff in a way that it wouldn't be too bothersome as she ran towards Ichio's dorm room. She was glad Ichio and Yumi were back, but at the same time it sounded like the situation was a very delicate one. Still, she'd have to make the best of it.
Upon reaching Ichio's dorm room, she saw Nakya leaning against the door frame, her leg bleeding badly.
"Nakya, I'm going to lecture you later on safety and getting your body taken care of when it's sick or injured." Rinsi said, trying to keep a smile on her face in spite of her slight irritation. "Seriously, you should have gone to the nurses office first."
Sighing to herself, Rinsi placed a glowing hand over the wound. It would take a few minutes to heal, but it would be done without even a sign of a scar.
Ichio heard Nakya bump into something as she tried to leave. Turning to face her, there was another sound, of her falling against the door frame.
"Nakya?" He asked, taking a step forward. "What's wrong?"
He saw the blood seeping through her bandage. He took another hesitant step forward, then stopped, balling his hands into fists before stepping back, shaking his head violently. He was scared. Scared of hurting her, of doing more damage than he'd do help. Yumi poked her head into his thoughts, saying,
You know she won't let either of us help her. You can't touch her without busting her bones, and She wouldn't let me within ten feet with my powers. She doesn't trust us anymore.
She grew silent again, watching. Ichi lit a cigarette, unable to deal without one. He'd never seemed to break his cigarettes, which seemed odd to him.
"Nothing. I'm fine. Rinsi's here."
When she heard Rinsi scolding her, she laughed softly.
"I was in the nurse's office. Where's Ki'iro?"
Looking around, she couldn't see him anywhere. Maybe he was still in her room. As her leg finally healed, she gave Rinsi a huge hug.
"Thanks Rinsi!" Turning to face Ichio, she saw he was smoking again. "I'm glad that you two came back. I hope we can remain friends."
Giving him a small smile, Nakya quickly made her way into the hall. Walking into her room, she found Ki'iro's note. Walking downstairs, she looked around for him. Seeing him, she ran towards him, a huge smile on her face as she jumped on his back.
Rinsi laughed and hugged her surprisingly energetic friend.
"You still won't escape that lecture!" Rinsi called after her as she left.
Turning to face Ichio, she noticed he was...different. Darker somehow, like something hadn't gone right. Still, she smiled at him. She was glad to see her friends again.
"Hey, Ichio!" she said cheerfully, "What's up?"
Ichio took another drag of his cig, exhaling smoke rings into the ceiling light.
"Not a lot. Compiled quite a few more battle scars over the summer, though these are much more noble."
He said, putting the cig in his mouth as he rolled up one sleeve. A fleshy-pink burn scar tracked up his wrist, past his forearm. Beneath his clothes, both wrists were scarred, as well as most of his chest and legs.
"I managed to pick up a couple bad habits, as well." He grinned, pulling the cig out of his mouth before speaking. He rolled his sleeve back down, trying to keep a light tone.
"So I noticed." Rinsi said dryly at the mention of battle scars and bad habits. "Those are bad for you, and I'm fairly sure smoking indoors is not allowed. Just so you know, if you bring those into my class, we're going to have some problems. Don't make me lecture you, too. I already have one scheduled for Nakya. Anyway, I'm glad you're back. It's good to see all my friends from last year, and see how they've grown."
Rinsi looked at her watch. It was almost time for class, and she still had yet to visit Tahtsu. She sighed silently to herself. She felt bad for the poor guy, but their visit would have to wait. It was bad for a teacher to be late for class, much less on the first day.
"Let's walk and talk. Class is about to start anyway, and I'd rather not be late."
"Alright." Ichio said, pinching the cherry of his cigarette to put it out before tossing it into the trash can. He followed Rinsi out of his dorm, leaving it unlocked like always. "What did you want to talk about?" He asked, yawning. He'd regained his composure once Nakya had left, and was nearly worry-free.
"I was just wondering how you're doing, and how your summer went." Rinsi said cheerfully as they wondered towards her classroom. "How's Yumi?"
As they approached the classroom, Rinsi unlocked the door and flipped the light switch. Each desk had a stack of books as reading material for the class, as well as a syllabus on each stack.
"Go ahead and pick a seat. There is no assigned seating here."
After Tahtsu had finished his class and all the paperwork that needed to be done, he headed over to find Rinsi's classroom. Locating it easily, he stood in the doorway and smiled softly at her. She didn't look particularly busy, but there was a student with her, and he didn't want to impose. He was there to simply observe.
Rinsi had heard footsteps. She thought it was another student, and turned to greet them, but to her surprise it was Tahtsu. She smiled widely at him and waved him into the room.
"Tahtsu! Hi!" she said excitedly, "This is Ichio, a friend of mine from last year and one of my students. Ichio, this is Tahtsu, the physical training teacher. Tahtsu, I'm glad to see you."
Oh, crap. Had she really said that? Here comes nerdy school girl Rinsi again to ruin the day. She would have face palmed, but it would have made her situation all that more obvious. Instead, she made a sly effort to hide the rising color in her cheeks.
Ichio shrugged at Rinsi's back before answering.
"She's just as wacko as she always was. Now she's infecting me." He laughed sarcastically, taking a chair. "How'd you get a teaching job here so fast anyway?" He asked, looking down at the syllabus.
There was a slight bit of movement on the edge of his vision, which wasn't more than 45 degrees from straight out. His vision still sucked.
"Hey, What's up? You new here, or what?" He asked, not recognizing the newcomer.
Tahtsu smiled at the student.
"I'm sorry if I am interrupting. I am the physical training teacher here. My name is Tahtsu Kishiru. I am pleased to make your acquaintince." Turning his attention back to Rinsi, he smiled again. "Happy to see you too, I like your room. It's a bit cleaner than mine is," he chuckled uneasily.
After doing a couple of laps, Nakya pulled her phone out and looked at the time. It was time for Rinsi's class. Making her way to Rinsi's classroom, she hummed. Squeezing past Tahtsu, she froze as she saw Ichio in the room already. Clearing her throat, she asked "Ki'iro's not here yet?" Frowning slightly, she chose a seat on the other side of the room and picked up a syllabus, scanning it.
Rinsi couldn't help but laugh a little at his comment about how messy his room. All at the same time that Nakya stepped into the classroom.
"It sounds like SOMEone needs to do a little housekeeping in their classroom." Rinsi said teasingly. "You're welcome to stay for class if you like. Hi, Nakya! How's the leg?"
Grinning at Rinsi teasing Tahtsu, she connected her thoughts to hers.
'So I shouldn't mention how messy your side of the room was last year?' She raised an eyebrow as she made eye contact with Rinsi.
"Much better now, thanks to you!" Wow, that sounded completely weird. Oh well, Nakya shrugged the thought off and smiled at Rinsi again.
I thought I had cleaned that. Rinsi thought back.
"Ah, glad to hear it." Rinsi said cheerfully. "Take a seat. Any one will do."
Ichio avoided meeting Nakya's eyes when she entered the room, falling silent quickly. He put up one elbow to block her from his field of vision, an easy feat. Cursing under his breath, he realized how big a mistake he'd made. Yumi'd been right all along. He should have called, or done something. He hadn't wanted her to be hurt by him, so he'd avoided all contact.
You men are so stupid! Yumi yelled in his head, smacking him mentally.
"Stop Yumi. I don't have the patience right now." He said, not realizing he'd spoken out loud.
"Well don't mind me, Miss. I'm sure your class is about to begin, and you probably have much to do before it starts," he smiled softly at her and sat down in the back of the class. "Please, don't mind me," he said softly as he looked around the room. He slung his sword off his back and placed it on the floor next to him.
"It's okay." Rinsi said as she picked up a piece of chalk and began writing things on the chalkboard behind her, such as her name, the class she was teaching, the days date, and so on. "I got all the preparation done before class. Oh, and I'm sure you've met Nakya. She was my room mate last year, before we started getting teachers here."
Thinking to Rinsi, she said 'I'm just bugging you, you shoulda seen your face though.' With a small smile, Nakya cut off her thoughts with Rinsi. Hearing Ichio scold Yumi out loud, she frowned slightly. Inhaling sharply, she connected her thoughts to theirs and said 'You really shouldn't do that out loud, Ichio." Forgetting to disconnect her thoughts, she returned her attention to the syllabus and stack of books in front of her.
Rinsi sent Nakya a mock-glare. She really didn't mind the teasing, and really was just teasing in return.
"Ah, Nakya. Yes, we have met before." Tahtsu smiled at Rinsi politely. "Do you need any help with anything?" He asked softly.
"Hm," Rinsi said thoughtfully. She didn't really have any thing for him to do, but she didn't want him to leave either. "OH! I know. Since it's the first day and all, some of the new students that don't know me might try to goof off, thinking I'm a pushover or something. If you want you can keep an eye out and alert me when they goof off."
Rinsi moaned inwardly. It was a horrible excuse, and very obvious that she was just trying to keep him in her class room. She chided herself mentally for opening her mouth and sticking her foot in it, but outwardly she smiled, trying not to show it.
Smiling at her rather sad attempt at keeping him in the room, he just nodded.
"I'd love to help you with anything," he cooed. Propping himself up on one elbow, he placed his head in his hand.
"That's great!" Rinsi said excitedly, immediately followed by her chiding herself silently again, "Er, that is, if you're not busy. I don't want to keep you from doing anything you're supposed to do. Hey, is this everyone for today? That's a little disappointing. It looks like my schedule is packed with lectures today. Yes, that means you Nakya. You won't get away from me that easily."
Rinsi had said all of that jokingly, trying to keep the mood light and cover her own embarrassing discussion in which she seemed to repeatedly stick her foot in her own mouth. Was that toe jam she was tasting just now?
"Don't worry about it, I don't have anything else to be doing really," he said simply. He watched the girl run out of the room. Confused, he looked up at Rinsi for answers.
Rinsi had seen Nakya's strange behavior and knew what it was. She was connected with someone's mind, reading their memories. This was only confirmed when she came back to reality and ran off, soon followed by Ichio. She sighed to herself, making a mental note to lecture them both later. It seemed she would be making a lot of lectures that day.
"Sorry about that." Rinsi explained to Tahtsu. "She's a telepath, and apparently saw Ichio's memories. Damn, so much drama between those two."
Tahtsu nodded in acknowledgement.
"I see. She should be more careful about whose mind she sticks her nose into. I'm sorry about your class, perhaps you can reschedule with the headmistress or something. I'm sure she wouldn't mind," he said with a smile on his face. He wasn't very concerned with the drama going on between Nakya and that boy named Ichio.
"It's ok." Rinsi said, visibly relaxing and smiling once again. "They'll just get a lecture from me later. Same goes for all those who are late. But at least this gives me more time for other things. Hey, no grading papers tonight!"
Rinsi sat on her desk and began playing with her staff. Since there was no class yet, she was growing bored.
"Hey, Tahtsu." Rinsi began, not knowing what else to say, "Everyone here has special abilities. What are yours?"
"My abilities? Just all things physically demanding. I have near absolutely no magical talent."
He stood up and walked over to Rinsi. He stood in front of her and leaned his hands on the desk on either side of her. Their faces were dangerously close to one another's. Staying there for a moment, a small smirk crossed his face before he stood upright and took a step backward.
"Now if I may ask you, m'dear, what is it that you do? I must infer that it has something to do with your staff," he said as he gestured to it.
Rinsi tried not to blush while their faces were so close, but it was inevitable. She could feel her face glowing hot, and knew her face must have been as red as a ripe tomato. She had just noticed how beautiful his eyes were, and how smooth his skin was. As much as she secretly enjoyed it, she was glad when he backed off a bit and gave her space to breath.
"I'm a healer." she said simply, trying desperately to form a cogent, coherent sentence in her mind. "But the staff is what I use for my light spells. Well, mostly anyway. There's a couple that don't require the staff."
Tahtsu smiled at her blushing face.
"That's interesting," he said simply before sitting on a nearby desk for her students. "Care to go for a walk or anything? Perhaps you should check on that friend of yours? Or student, rather, Nakya."
"A walk sounds good." Rinsi said cheerfully. "I'm fairly sure she's ok. She's grown a lot since last year. Still, you're right. It wouldn't hurt to check in on her and see if she's ok."
Rinsi hopped down from her desk - well, more like stood up. She was fairly tall for a woman her age, so her feet could touch the ground easily. However, being the energetic person she was, she hopped anyway. She lead Tahtsu out of the classroom, turning out the light and locking the door behind her.
Tahtsu simply followed her into the hallway. A moment later, his cellphone rang in his pocket.
"Hello?" he answered. "Oh, I-I see. No. I'll call you back in a few minutes," he shot a pleading look at Rinsi. He hung up the phone. Grabbing her hand and spinning her to look at him, he smiled softly at her.
"I'm so sorry about this, Rinsi, may I call you that? Or is Ms. Starlight preferable to you?" He asked, still holding onto her hand. He lifted her hand and kissed her lower arm softly. Looking into her eyes, he smiled again. "I must bid you adieu, m'darling."
Rinsi, once again, flushed bright red. His endearing terms for her were rather cute and flattering, and she loved it. Not to mention his attitude as a complete gentleman. Was it just her, or was she not the only one who was smitten?
"Ah, it's ok. Rinsi is fine." she said smiling brightly, "You can call me whatever you want. Just don't call me late for dinner."
Again she tasted toe jam. She couldn't believe she had just used such a cliche phrase.
"I hope you get everything straightened out soon."
Tahtsu quickly turned away from her, swinging his sword over his shoulder again, he headed towards his room. He took out his phone and dialed the number that had just called him.
