As Nakya got off the plane after seeing her friend in Tonga, she smiled brightly. She was so excited to be back. The cold wind blew her hair around and she pulled her jacket closer. She had missed Ki'iro so much. He hadn't texted her in the month she had been gone. Strange, but she didn't suspect anything. She had also found a way to help Ichio. She would need everyone else's help, but she knew they could do it. To her delight, there was a cab waiting outside and she threw her bags into it. Climbing in, she told the cab driver the directions to the school. She had changed slightly since being gone. Her skin was a bit darker, her hair a bit blonder. Her love for Ki'iro was stronger. She watched as the scenery flew by her and they eventually pulled up to the school. Throwing the driver his money, she jumped out and grabbed her bags. Dragging them up the stairs, she walked in. Seeing Ki'iro, she let out a tiny squeal and dropped everything, running over to him. Smiling brightly, she threw her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.
"I missed you so much when I was gone! How is everything?"
About to continue, she noticed Yumi coming down the hall behind him.
"I know how we can save Ichio from Yumi. If it's done right, no one will have to die. I need your help though, and Rinsi's. Will you help me??" she said, focusing her thoughts on Ki'iro.
She looked up at Ki'iro, a happily confused look on her face. Glancing around him once more, she said softly
"Yumi." Her voice had a cold, almost acidic tone to it, and her eyes were hard.
Ki'iro didn't move as Nakya hugged him. He felt his heart tear as she touched him.
"I'll help." he said simply to her.
No matter how much he hated Ichio and Yumi, he wanted them to be safe, he wasn't that bitter of a person.
Sensing that something was wrong when Ki'iro didn't hug her back, Nakya looked up at him, a concerned look written on her face.
"What's the matter, sweet cheeks?"
She smiled up at him slightly, as she reached up to brush a shock of hair out of his eyes, her fingertips brushing against his face. ,
"I love you." she said, taking a deep breath.
She knew something was wrong, but she didn't know what. She could feel tears, caused by her worry, filling her eyes as she looked away quickly.
"Oh, I guess I should pick my bags up. Will you help me, Ki'iro?" she asked as she began walking over to her bags.
She had to get Ki'iro away from Yumi, so she could tell him her plan. She also needed to find out what was wrong. Nakya only hoped he hadn't changed his mind about her, but it was doing nothing to ease her fear.
"Nakya..." he said with a sigh as he stood up and grabbed her bags. "We need to talk...about what happened before you left, and when you were gone." He said simply as they walked towards her dorm room.
As they reached her dorm, Nakya unlocked the door silently and walked in. Waiting for Ki'iro to follow her, she closed the door behind them. She looked up at him with a worried expression painted on her face.
"What do you mean?" she asked, sitting lightly on the foot of her bed.
He had found someone else. A new student. That was it. She wasn't good enough for him, clearly. She didn't know why she had every believed him. Looking down, she let her hair fall across her face. As she opened her mouth, her voice came out no louder than a broken whisper.
"It's okay. I knew you would find someone else. It's alright."
She reached up and brushed away her tears before clearing her throat and looking up at him.
"I can separate Yumi and Ichio. I can pull one person from the other's mind. It's going to be painful for everyone involved. I need you to isolate Yumi away from everyone with your shadows, and we'll need Rinsi close by for healing, just in case. If I pass out, just leave me. We need to keep Ichio and Yumi as far away as possible from each other."
Her voice was monotone, her eyes had lost their sparkle, and there wasn't a trace of her smile. She wouldn't allow herself to cry over Ki'iro yet. Not when her friends' lives were in danger. She stared blankly at the bare wall in front of her.
"Nakya, I need you to listen to me. Okay?" he placed his finger underneath her chin and pulled her head up to face his. His eyes had begun to fill with tears. "When Ichio was in the hospital, you fell asleep with him."
He winced as the memory came back into his mind crystal clear. He sighed as he looked away from her and brought his hand away from her face. Letting his hair fall in front of his face, he spoke again.
"I'll do whatever you need me to," he sighed again.
Feeling Ki'iro touch her face, she flinched slightly. Listening to his words, her mouth fell open slightly as tears filled her eyes.
"So wait. You thought I was in love with him still? That I.."
Her voice trailed off as her anger began to fill her. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, letting a few tears roll down her face.
"I fell asleep with him, because I put Yumi to sleep so she would stop trying to hurt Ichio. I get tired when I used my telepathy, you know. When I use them like that, I get exhausted. It's not like I intentionally fell asleep with him. If it makes you feel any better, I don't love him anymore, and I haven't for a long time. I love you, I trust you, and I was pretty sure you felt the same." she said, turning her gaze to Ki'iro.
Closing her eyes, she let more tears fall. Taking a few deep breaths, she returned the same emotionless expression to her face. Her voice was once again monotone.
"Thank you. I will need your help with this. And as I said, don't worry about my well being, make sure Ichio and Yumi are taken care of."
Ki'iro stood up and faced her, feeling anger filling him.
"Listen to me!" he yelled at Nakya. "How could you think that I don't love you? How could you think that I-" he stopped himself from saying anymore.
"You don't know how much I went through when you were gone. Kai came back. We almost killed Yumi, she didn't seem to mind," he said, his voice coated in bitterness. "I had to fight Kai for weeks to be able to come back. Do you know how many times I almost just let him win? But then I thought of you! And what we have," he looked away from her for a moment before continuing.
"I didn't know the whole story," he sighed softly as he said those words. Sitting down in a chair a few feet from Nakya, he stared down at his hands that rested in his lap.
Hearing the anger in Ki'iro's voice, her eyes flickered up to his face as he stood. Scrambling up to the head of her bed, she sat and listened. Kai had come back? And he had to fight to get back. He did it for....her? A mixture of confusion and regret crossed Nakya's face as she listened to his words. She glanced over at him, as he sat in a chair near her.
"You didn't care when I left. You didn't return my text messages. You didn't hug me or anything. What was I supposed to think?" she asked softly, her confusion evident in her voice.
She listened to Ki'iro finish speaking in silence. Looking at him, she reached over and brushed his hair out of his face.
"You didn't try to find out the whole story, Ki'iro.. Not once." Silently, she slid off the bed and onto his lap. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she whispered softly. "I love you. I always have and I always will, that will never change."
A single tear rolled down her face, landing on his skin. She sat silently for a moment, embracing him.
"We need to find Rinsi. Do you know where she might be? We need to get our plans sorted out before it's too late." she said, pulling back slightly.
She didn't want to be doing this right now. She just wanted to stay in Ki'iro's arms a while longer. She knew, though, that time wasn't something they had in this situation.
Ki'iro ignored everything that Nakya had said about them as a relationship.
"Rinsi's probably out with Tahtsu in the forest, would be my best guess. Let's go," he said simply. "Want to tell me what I'm going to be doing in this grand plan you have?" he asked as they walked out of the room and towards the front of the school.
As they walked towards the front doors, Nakya realized he still hadn't said it back. Maybe she should stop saying it until he decided he was ready too. A confused expression crossed her face as she tried to sort out her thoughts.
"Hm? Oh, I need you to keep Yumi away from Ichio. You can make a shadow barrier right?"
She looked up at him, smiling slightly, before pushing the front door open. Pulling her jacket around her tighter, she let the wind whip her hair around for a few moments before pulling her hood up. Holding Ki'iro's hand, she walked down the stairs. Squeezing his hand slightly, she continued watching closely for Yumi and any sign of Rinsi. As they grew closer to the forest, she could hear Rinsi's voice and... was that the P.E. teacher? Glancing at Ki'iro, she asked
"Rinsi and that Tahtsu teacher person?"
As Rinsi and Tahtsu came into view, Nakya stopped and watched them silently, leaning against Ki'iro.
"Well, they started dating when you went away. Of course I can make a barrier."
Ki'iro laughed softly and didn't squeeze Nakya's hand back. He still felt slightly betrayed, and frankly, he was just too stubborn and prideful to admit that he was wrong.
"Ehem!" Ki'iro yelled, pretending like he was clearing his throat. "Rinsi, we need you. Please excuse us, Tahtsu," Ki'iro said politely.

Rinsi walked down the hall carrying her violin case with her. She was happy as usual, but happier than usual. She had been ever since her first date with Tahtsu. Now they had been dating for a few weeks now and she couldn't be happier. She was on cloud nine, and at the moment practically whistling a happy tune as she walked. She was headed towards the forest outside. She hoped she would find Tahtsu there, because there was something she wanted to show him. She just hoped it would work. It should, considering how circumstances had changed. The thought of seeing him again made her smile more, and it was all she could do to keep from dancing right then and there.
Tahtsu sat in a tree, deep in the woods, near a small lake. He swung his legs back and forth, back and forth. His sword lay near the trunk of the tree. Jumping down from the tree, he picked up a pebble and skipped it across the entire length of the lake.
As Rinsi neared the forest, she saw Tahtsu standing by the lake.
I spy, with my little eye, a Tahtsu. she thought to herself.
Feeling rather playful - as usual - Rinsi quietly snuck up behind him and covered his eyes with her hands.
"Guess who?" she said, trying to disguise her voice as best as possible.
"Well. I'd have to guess by the feel of these precious little hands, that this is the most beautiful girlfriend anyone could ever ask for," he said with a bright smile across his face.
Turning around, he swept her off her feet and into his arms.
"Hello my precious Star," he said as he kissed her lightly on the forehead.
Rinsi giggled and squealed a little when he picked her up, but only because it took her by surprise. Otherwise, she didn't mind at all. In fact, she rather enjoyed being in his arms. Smiling brightly at him she kissed his lips softly.
"Hello, my knight in shining armor." she said, still smiling. "How are you today?"
Rinsi had been enjoying Tahtsu, as usual, when she heard voices nearby. Looking up, she saw Ki'iro and Nakya. She was glad to see her friend back, but at the same time both were serious, which means something serious was going on. She frowned a bit when Ki'iro asked Tahtsu to excuse them.
"Well, he can come with us if he wants to, can't he?" Rinsi asked. "What's up?"
Nakya nodded silently to Ki'iro's response. She moved away from him a little, sensing he was still upset. She didn't want to upset him even more. Turning her attention back to Rinsi, she listened to her words. Glancing warily at Tahtsu, she spoke softly.
"I can separate Yumi and Ichio. It's going to be painful for everyone. When I'm separating them, I need someone to bind Yumi, so she can't attack me. Then I have to go into her mind and pull Ichio out of her body. As soon as he's out, barriers need to go up. One around Yumi and one around Ichio. If I collapse, which I probably will, don't worry about me. Keep Yumi and Ichio separated at all costs. Will you help us?"
She took a deep breath after explaining everything. Her face was still serious and she shivered a bit. Pulling her jacket around her, she moved back and forth restlessly, waiting for an answer. Her mind was constantly searching the surrounding area for Yumi/Ichio and her eyes were darting around.
"Question." Rinsi said, now totally serious, "Once you pull Ichio's mind out of Yumi, what body will you put it in, and how will you do so?"
Listening to Rinsi's question, Nakya was silent a moment before speaking.
"I have a body coming. It will be here tomorrow. I put Ichio's mind into the body in a fashion similar to how I take it out. I just need to know that I will have the help when the time comes. "
Nakya yawned, suddenly feeling exhausted. Moving back over to Ki'iro, she slipped in between his arm and his body. Resting her head on his chest, she let her eyes close.
"I didn't sleep much when I was gone, I guess it's catching up to me." she murmured sleepily.
Rinsi was silent for a moment. Did she just say she had a body coming? Was the person still conscious and alive? Or had they died already? If the latter were true, Rinsi knew that it would have to have died within the last few hours and arrive in the next hour or so in order to be usable. Even then what good was a mind and body if there was no soul to keep it alive?
"This body...Is it alive? If not, will you be pulling Ichio's soul with his mind? Anyway, I'll help, but I need all the details, to make sure everything will work out okay."
Yawning again, Nakya kept her eyes closed this time, enjoying Ki'iro's warmth.
"Ichio will have everything he needs to survive, including his soul. The person whose body we will be using, is giving it to us willingly, and no, he is not dead yet, but he will be. "
Her words sounded strange to her, as her exhaustion took a greater toll on her. Giggling slightly, she cuddled into Ki'iro even more.
"I'm so tired, Ki'iro.. Will you take me to my room? We can finish the talk tomorrow right?"
"S-sure..." he stuttered. "We'll talk to you about all of this tomorrow, alright Rinsi?"
He sighed softly as he walked back to Nakya's dorm room with her. Quickly making it there, he tucked her into bed and smiled softly at her.
Rinsi remained in grim silence. The person was alive, but they would be killing them to give Ichio a body. Rinsi wasn't sure she could deal with that. She didn't want her friend to die, but at the same time taking a life to save a life wasn't really saving a life at all. Though she knew that she herself would not be taking that person's life, in her mind she might as well have for allowing it to happen and not stepping in to stop it.
"Nakya, I can't allow that. Not a living person. Sure, if the body is dead and has been dead for no more than a few hours, it could work. But taking a life to save a life is not saving a life at all. I can't in good conscience let something like that happen. Why not ask at a local hospital? Maybe they have an accident victim who has died within the last few hours. I could heal the body and you could use that."
Looking at Ki'iro and Nakya for a moment, she nodded silently.
"S-sure. We can talk about it later. Please keep what I said in serious consideration, though."
Frowning slightly at Rinsi's words, she spoke, words slurred with exhaustion.
"Nobody is killing anybody Rinsi. They're dying. They said we could have their body. "
Lifting a hand tiredly, to wave to her, Nakya followed Ki'iro up to her room. Feeling Ki'iro tuck her in, she smiled softly before taking his hand.
"Don't go yet. I'm sorry about everything. I love you. Please stay with me for a little bit." she said sleepily, soon slipping into a deep sleep.
