Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ The Gifted Moon Academy ❯ New Student and Teacher ( Chapter 31 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Returning from his walk, Jet walked into his dorm room and set his kendo sword on his bed, then turning to his window he lifted the shades.
"Why does it seem like no one's used this room in so long...?"
He reached over to a nearby desk and pulled out his copy of LOVELESS and proceeded to read it as he walked out into the hallway, he wondered as he began to walk around, should he be in class?
"I haven't even received my class list yet. Maybe I should go take care of that."
Jet slid his book into the pocket inside his cloak and began looking for a teacher who may be able to help him out.
Jet had managed to make his way to the building’s entrance and was now outside reading from LOVELESS waiting for someone to come by,
"When the war of the beasts brings about the worlds end, the goddess descends from the sky..."
Jet's voice cut off as he began to read in his head, he had just come from a walk but it felt as though he hadn't spent time just doing nothing in a while, maybe he was getting a cold, who knows.
After a restful nap, Rinsi didn't feel any better. Her mind was still buzzing, and she still felt worried, sad and lonely. She knew she'd get over it...eventually. But right now it was painful and depressing. After spending a moment trying to gather herself enough to grin and bear it - as she usually did - she decided to at least walk around. Perhaps seeing something beautiful, or even finding a good enough book, would distract her.
As she walked around the building, she came across a boy who was reading out loud to himself, and found the words to be prophetic and poetic at the same time. It piqued here interest, as it seemed to be a good book, given how intently he was reading it.
"Hm, that sounds like a good book" she said aloud, "What's it called? I'd like to read it later if I can."
York streamlined down the empty hallways of the school. Randomly searching for his target in the massive campus. Out of nowhere, York was brought to the ground by a dark figure, it was Repede, his wolven comrade.
Repede looked down at York, fairly annoyed.
"York, you really shouldn't get like that, I was 2 feet away from you, screaming your name, and I'm fairly certain you didn't hear a word of it."
Repede started to lick a paw while standing on top of York.
"Regardless, I found your "target"."
Repede started dashing away.
York looked up from the ground, partially irritated.
"Stupid mutt..." York sprang to his feet and dashed after the wolf. After another five minutes of running, York finally reached the exit where Repede stood silently. York heard poetry outside of the doorway.
'...Poetry, he's reading poetry...'
York jumped through the door, spinning at a high velocity, slamming the boy named Jet in the back of the head with a bamboo kendo sword as he landed. York pointed his kendo sword at the kids face.
"What is this!? You're skipping my class for poetry!?" York shouted in an angry, yet cynically happy voice.
Repede stepped between York and and the student.
"York, chill out, he probably has a decent reason." Repede turned to the boy, "You better start talking, York is in a happy mood today and that doesn't work in your favor kid."
Repede then turned his gaze to the literature teacher.
"Besides, I feel like we are ruining a perfectly good moment here.”
Rinsi frowned. Just who was this and why was he attacking a new student?
"Excuse me!" she said, rather cross, "But what business do you have attacking someone who is obviously new and likely doesn't have his classes set up yet? Honestly, for a teacher you sure are impatient and ill-tempered."
Rinsi didn't like people who acted so rashly without even a valid reason or any forethought to the situation at hand. Intelligent or not, she knew that being so rash could put peoples lives in danger, and she wouldn't have that at this school.
Jet quickly sprung back and looked up,
"What the hell?!"
Jet nodded towards the woman and then turned his gaze to the red haired man with the kendo sword as he slid LOVELESS back into his cloak and stepped forward, "
It's as the woman says, I've no clue where I'm supposed to be."
Jet turned to look at the wolf who was following the man, could this wolf talk, or was he mentally ill from the blow to his head? Regardless, it seemed it would be a fun year with a teacher such as him around, a good sparing partner perhaps?
"So you guys are teachers eh?"
Jet had relaxed slightly and wasn't necessarily on edge anymore...
Rinsi quelled her temper a bit, satisfied she had been right. He kind of looked lost anyway, like he wasn't sure where he was supposed to be, so from that she figured he didn't have his schedule yet. She forced on a smile, and looked at the new student.
"Yes. Well, at least I am. I haven't seen him around, so I'm assuming he is new as well, and from the way he speaks, I'm assuming he's a teacher as well. I'm going to guess the Kendo teacher, or some sort of physical activity. I'm the literature teacher, Rinsi Starlight."
York looked at the boy then to the teacher.
"You're a little too lenient don't you think? You act if being new is an actual excuse for not attending classes. If he doesn't have a schedule that is because he failed to go to the office and pick it up."
York then glance over at the new kid.
"Besides, he is in my class at the moment, so you'll have to excuse me if he walks away with a couple of lumps."
Repede decided to talk to the literature teacher on behalf of York, he knew that York didn't want to come across as a jerk, but he just kind of...did.
"Please don't think ill of York, he isn't a bad guy, he just won’t let rule breakers go away... unpunished."
Repede then looked over to York.
"Besides, it was only a bamboo kendo sword this time, you don't want to see what happened to the last couple of kids... But that isn't helping my argument much is it?"
"You fail to take into account that maybe he was on his way when you attacked him." Rinsi said, keeping her temper leashed. "Either way it's no excuse for you to attack a student. Such actions can have you expelled, or even reported to the authorities. Teachers are to be an example to their students!"
Rinsi turned to the wolf. It was a beautiful looking creature really, and the way it spoke made it seem intelligent, more so than the kid that was bickering with her about his attack on a student.
"Well, it certainly seems he lets his temper get away with him and gives in to rash thinking too easily. As I said, it is possible he was on his way to the office to pick up his schedule. Bad person or not, he should not be so violent towards his students, nor should he be so impatient."
Jet heard Ms. Rinsi say that the office had his schedule and took this opportunity to slide away from the scene,
"I'll just be on my way to the office then..."
Jet walked around the two arguing teachers in an awkward fashion and started making his way to the office, hoping they wouldn't do anything more to him, or his head. Reaching into the grieve of his cloak he pulled out his book once more and continued reading...
Jet turned several pages and to read out loud,
"Wings of light and dark spread afar, she guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting."
Jet had a small smile on his face as he had gotten away from the others, a moment's reprieve from the day's randomness.
Rinsi was glad to see the student leave the scene. At least that way he would be safe from the attacks of the impatient new teacher.
"My class is after his, and I would like to see you before class about that book. I'd like to read it some time." she said as he left.
Rinsi sighed to herself, once again quelling her temper. She wasn't sure what it was with this guy - probably his temper and impatience - but it got on her nerves. Still, she had to make peace with him and give a proper introduction. If not to quiet the scene, then to set an example to the new teacher on how one should behave towards others.
"Forgive my temper. I do not find people so irrational or impatient to be pleasant; though I'm sure you have your reasons. I am Rinsi Starlight, the literature teacher. Who might you two be?"
York looked at the woman, he couldn't bring himself to be angry with a woman but he couldn't help but to be irritated.
"You act as though I never gave him a chance, this would be the case if my class had just started, or even if he was walking to my class, but that is not the case. I started seeking this boy 30 min. into class, Repede found him sitting here reading about 7 min. ago."
York then looked down at his kendo sword.
"Besides, what example would the armed weapons teacher set if he let every student walk away in perfect condition."
York still was fairly happy as he talked to her.
"And you keep ranting about emotions getting the better of me, that would be the case if I didn't want to hurt him, but I have no quarrel breaking a bone or two, it's all covered in my contract."
York kept his gaze with the teacher then yelled at Repede.
"Fetch."
Repede was already ahead of York, he teleported in front of the student walking away.
"You really should get to class, You have managed to make one friend already and walking away won’t help that relationship. Beyond that, don't think for an instant she can protect you every second of every day."
Repede just walked back to York, his message hopefully got through.
"Instead of impeding a student who is wisely trying to get their schedule, you should let him pass. Missing one class is bad enough. If he has to miss more because you insist he goes to your class above getting his schedule for all of his classes, then it is on your head and not his. Besides, what kind of example is it to other students to attack them when they first arrive, and furthermore try to justify your attack? It is better that you ask first and fight later, and only when it is necessary. To do otherwise will frighten away the students."
Rinsi was still irritated with him. Such actions were inexcusable to her, and she was fairly certain he knew it as well, but refused to admit any wrong doing. Such people irritated her.
Just great. She thought to herself, As if drama weren't enough, now we have a 'teacher' who acts like a teenager who gets into fights at the drop of a hat, and has no qualms with injuring people for no reason at all. This is going to be a VERY long year.
York really hated people like her, she looked down on people who didn't quite follow the rules.
"Trust me, if he was getting his schedule he would have done it by now. Stick up for the kid all you like, he wasn't being a model A citizen. Regardless, I have better things to do than debate this with you."
York grabbed the kid by his arm after catching up to him and started dragging him to class.
"Don't fret over details kid, by the looks of ya, you'll fit in great."
York wasn't that angry with the kid, he drew a very big line between violence and anger.
Repede grew bored of the bickering and had decided to receive the students schedule. He returned to to the location to find the kid and York missing, with the woman standing their looking frustrated. Repede looked to the sky.
"When you genuinely love something, it is... difficult to agree with others that disagree, you know?"
Repede looked back down at the woman.
Rinsi would have said something, but she knew that it was pointless. He was completely irrational, and seemed like the type that could 'never do wrong'. She HATED those types. However, she did like his wolf companion. He seemed level headed enough, as well as being intelligent. She hoped she would at least get along with the wolf.
Though her temper was still sensitive, she had calmed a bit by the time the wolf had returned, and apparently had the student's schedule with him. She was at least glad for that. She forced on the most convincing smile she could come up with.
"Ah, thank you for retrieving his schedule. He will need it if he is to avoid any more encounters like that. And yes, I do understand what you are saying. You seem to be the counter balance, if you don't mind me saying."
Jet was growing very irritated with this teacher, who was he to drag him away after attacking him in the first place?
"Details...Always overlooked."
Jet extended his free arm as a wing sprouted and at full span no less, Jet then crouched and took flight dragging the teacher with him, how high would Jet go before the teacher caved? Jet began to laugh slightly,
'It's been so long, I forgot what it was like to fly...'
Jet's laugh grew quieter and then he turned his head to sight the office, it wasn't too far away, so he could fly there with this dead weight easily.
Turning his angle Jet began to rise preparing for a dive towards the office,
"Your agenda is beyond me, my job as a student is to take care of my issues first."
After having gained some height, Jet dove for the office gaining speed quickly. By now they had to have reached at least 60 miles per hour, maybe faster. Jet took a slight grin at this, how would the teacher react?
Rinsi looked in the direction that the wolf was pointing. There she saw the new student flying at break neck speeds with the new teacher in tote. She sighed loudly and pressed her hand to her temple.
"My goodness!" was all she could say. "Anyway, I don't believe I got your name. I hope at the very least we can get along this year, though I would like to be friends. I'll have to lecture this 'York' and the new student later."
Repede continued to watch the show in the sky.
"The name’s Repede, and I'd like that."
Repede said, glancing over at the woman. Repede then teleported behind the student, biting down on his wing, then rolling, causing the student, and York to crash, ending thier joy ride. Repede walked back up to the woman.
"So, what's your name by the way?"
Rinsi cringed when the student and teacher crash landed, and hoped there weren't too many injuries. She sighed mentally, and found herself to be more exhausted than she was before.
"Repede...that's an interesting name. Repede, perhaps disabling flight capability in mid flight - much less at such a reckless speed - was not the greatest idea. Anyway, as I said before, I am Rinsi Starlight. I guess I better go see if there are any injuries."
York hit the ground pretty hard and was slightly banged up.
"Stupid mutt... I was having fun!"
Yorks arm was sore but he lifted the kid up to check on him. He really wouldn't have cared so much if the kid lost a fight, but Repede kind of just ripped him out of the air. York concluded that nothing was broken on the kid.
"No need to worry...uhhh..."
York never actually got the ladies name. True, he didn't like how she acted, but York couldn't actually be mad at her for staying true to what she believed.
Repede walked over to York.
"Rinsi Starlight."
Repede finished York's sentence for him. Repede had found that York wasn't beyond the point of redemption with this teacher,
'[color=darkblue]Maybe some other time' Repede thought to himself.
Repede walked back to Rinsi.
"I know it may have seemed excessive, but I guarantee they would have both walked off with worse injuries if I had let them be."
Repede also picked up on how stressed Rinsi was.
"You should really try and relax, keep this up and I might just have to think that you're worried about him!"
Repede let out a slight chuckle, even odder for a wolf than talking some might say. Though a joke, Repede did find some truth in what he said.
"You wouldn't be far off from the truth, Repede." Rinsi said, chuckling sheepishly. "I worry about everyone."
Rinsi turned to examine the new student and teacher, to be sure there were no injuries. She frowned at the bite mark on the students wing, and figured they would both have bumps and bruises, but there was nothing serious, so she left the injuries as they were. Perhaps that would serve as a lesson about being so reckless.
"Come to think of it, the closest to a talking wolf I've ever seen was Nakya when she turned into a fox. I guess around here things like talking wolves and people with wings isn't so much of an oddity as it is outside the campus."
Jet patted his clothes to knock of some of the dust and then extended his arm out to his side,
"If you want me to go to your class that badly..."
Jet extended his wing to match his arm and then pulled his arm in very quickly. His wing, mimicking the motion, disappeared into Jet's cloak once more, but was it even still there? Jet's head turned as he heard the campus's bell,
"You'll just have to wait till tomorrow."
Jet let out a small chuckle and began to walk over to Ms. Starlight as he reached into his cloak yet again.
Pulling his arm out, the book LOVELESS came with it once more,
"The book is entitled LOVELESS. It's of a play about one's journey through many events to find the mysterious, ‘Gift of the Goddess.’"
Jet turned his gaze to the book remembering how many times he had read it. The book had sustained some damage over the years, but with the place Jet keeps it, makes that nearly an absolute certainty.
Rinsi cringed when the bell rang. Dangit! She was late! She sighed mentally and forced on the most convincing smile she could come up with.
"Ah, sounds like an interesting book. I'll check the library for it later. Right now we are both running late for class and I still have yet to lecture you about treating your teachers with respect and not endangering people’s lives."
Rinsi turned towards the building and jogged off. She did NOT want to be late for class. That would have been a horrible example!
Jet followed after Ms. Starlight as his face turned to a slight frown and yet he laughed at the thought. Sure, he did come on a little...edgy...But Jet wouldn't let anything happen to the teacher, that would be foolish,
"Oh, that...He was in no real danger."
Jet slid the book back into the grieve of his cloak; hopefully for the last time in a while, pulling it out and putting it back so often was getting annoying. Jet looked around as he followed the teacher, he hadn't been to this part of the campus yet.
"And after all that..."
It had just dawned on Jet, he had never actually gotten his schedule; not that it matter, Ms. Starlight said he had her class next anyways and could tell him what to do afterwards.
"So where is your class anyways?"
Jet had been around campus, but not here yet, was her class even part of the main building? It had been such an odd day so far, it amazed Jet that he could even think of such trivial things; maybe he was growing up, or maybe he was acting like a child...
"Real danger or not, you are to be an example to others. Treating teachers with such disrespect and outright recklessness is not a good example at all." Rinsi lectured.
Rinsi sighed inwardly. She wondered to herself why things seemed more difficult when Tahtsu wasn't around, but shook her head, as if to shake the thought away as she jogged towards class.
"Just follow me. That's a good way to find the classroom."
Jet sighed, respect was something he tried to do without, few people he met ever deserved it and no one has yet to earn Jet's respect. Regardless of the fact Jet tries to put an a smile and be polite as he is expected, until people began to get on his nerves, then he's little or no regard for anything.
"Then, I'll just stay following you for a few days."
Jet slid by the lecture Ms. Starlight was trying to give him, he wasn't sure if he had any intention on listening to it, and he didn't want to argue with her over it.
Jet nodded and continued to follow the literature teacher as he pondered over what exactly he'd be doing in her class,
'It can't be too hard, can it? I mean, I am just a 3rd year...'
Jet kept his thoughts to himself, he would find out soon enough one way or another.
"Why does it seem like no one's used this room in so long...?"
He reached over to a nearby desk and pulled out his copy of LOVELESS and proceeded to read it as he walked out into the hallway, he wondered as he began to walk around, should he be in class?
