Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ The Purple Ribbon ❯ The Purple Ribbon ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
It was Abby Price's 15th birthday and her parents decided to throw her a party. All of Abby's friends brought gifts. One was a strange gift that no one claimed. Abby first thought it was a surprise from her dad, but he swore it wasn't from him. With excitement, Abby opened the unclaimed gift. Inside, Abby found a single purple ribbon. The ribbon was made of silk and was a rich, deep purple which made looking at it like staring into a cloud. Abby was mesmerized by it. She carried it with her the rest of the day.
The next morning, Abby decided that she was going to wear the ribbon in her hair to school. When she looked in the mirror, she could not believe how nice the ribbon looked in her hair.
The purple made her golden blond hair glow and her face shine.
That day at school, all eyes were on her. The boys in her class were falling all over themselves trying to talk to her.
The girls also wanted to know what she's been using on her hair and how she was washing her face. The girls were very curious to get to the bottom of Abby's beauty secret. The rest of the day Abby enjoyed wearing the ribbon in her hair.
Getting ready for bed, Abby untied the purple ribbon from her hair, trying to be very careful. No matter how careful she was, she pulled out some hair. Abby wasn't used to wearing things in her hair, so she didn't think much of it.
The next day Abby experienced the same special attention.
The boys were fighting over who got to carry her books and the girls were all wearing purple ribbons in their hair.
Again, getting ready for bed, Abby untied the ribbon in her hair. Again, some hair was pulled from her head, lots more!
Something else happened, too. Although Abby was only 15 years old, she noticed she had very tiny wrinkles and dark circles around her eyes.
Strangely enough, Abby swore the wrinkles only appeared after she removed the ribbon. Abby sat in front of the bathroom mirror for an hour, staring at her reflection.
The next day, Abby decided that she wasn't going to wear the purple ribbon. Abby quickly noticed that without the purple ribbon, people didn't react like they did the past two days. Earlier her father told her she looked pale. The kids at school didn't seem to notice her and boys even called her ugly. Abby was so upset that she pretended to feel sick so that she could go home from school early.
For the rest of the week, Abby wore the ribbon. She even slept with it in. But on Saturday, Abby woke up and the ribbon was lying on her pillow and beside it was the rest of her hair.
She hoped she was just dreaming it. But she wasn't. She ran to the mirror and she was an old wrinkled lady. It was too much for her, she fainted.
The next two weeks were hard for her. Her parents took her to the doctor and they couldn't find anything wrong with her. Abby was quickly losing her mind from all the stress she was having. By the end of two weeks, Abby realized she would never be normal again. Abby felt her world coming to an end.
It was Sunday afternoon and everyone was enjoying the day. They weren't really ready for her. She was a scary sight.
People were staring at her with their mouths wide open.
None of them hurt more than a little red-headed girl, who was laughing at her.
That laugh poisoned Abby's heart, and she vowed revenge. As the giggle was heard, Abby decided to give her the purple ribbon.
