Evana shrugged. Lana walked out of Maverick's room and grabbed two apples with a yawn.
"Morning," Sarah said while still fondling Evanna's breasts.
Lana waved. She bit into the apple then grabbed some drinks from the fridge. Maverick came in. "Um...water or juice?"
"Juice," he said and sat down.
"So, how did you two sleep last night?"
Maverick took his drink as Lana sat down. "Angelia has a cold. I didn't sleep too much."
"Sorry to hear that. At least she's being taken care of right?"
"Yeah. My maid says the doctor came over and took a look at her."
"It's just a small cold. She doesn't have a fever and the medication she's on is working just fine. He's stressing because he's not there," Lana said while she chewed.
He smiled. "It would be easier if I was there to see for myself."
"There's nothing you could do even if you were there. Babies need a woman's touch. Lana would probably do pretty well with it," she smirked.
Lana stiffened. "He...um...has a maid for that..."
"I'm thinking of having her and my maid come here and stay. I just have to talk to Xavier about it. Having her here when I'm here will ease my mind," he said as he played with the apple.
"But having her here while you're away would drive you crazy," Sven corrected.
"Having her away while I'm here is driving me crazy. At least I'll get to see her in between our little adventures."
Sven shrugged. "The rooms are almost sound proof so her crying won't bother me, but I don't plan to stop smoking if she's here; but I doubt I'll get anywhere near her so it'll work out."
Evana grabbed his cigarette and put it out. "If we smoke, we will do it outside." She said. "I really don't want to wake up and find myself missing a limb or something because I didn't follow some stupid rule."
"Oh fuck no," he muttered as he pulled out another cigarette. "There's been no problem smoking before and I don't even go near his room. His little princess will be fine."
Evana grabbed the whole pack and crushed it. "I will hurt you. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get pregnant these days? And how many babies have been born dead? It's a miracle she's alive and still kicking. You won't smoke in this house if she is here because if she so much as coughs while breathing this air, I will pound your head into concert."
Sven smiled and gently patted her cheek. "Yeah. Fuck you." He rolled his eyes, grabbing the crushed pack and starting to his room.
Evana looked at Maverick. "He won't smoke in the house," she said with a sigh. "I promise, Maverick...you won't lose this-"
"Stop," he said coldly. "Don't ever bring that up."
He stood and walked to find Xavier to let him know he was sending for Angelia. Lana hesitated. She had never seen Maverick so tense. Slowly, she stood and followed after him while Evana sat back in her chair looking broken.
Sarah stood and grabbed a bottle of vodka. Setting a glass in front of Evanna, she poured some for her. She didn't ask. It wasn't her place. But she knew when someone needed a drink. Evana downed the drink without hesitation and closed her eyes as she swallowed it.
"Let's go back to our room. I'll give you a massage," she offered.
"Sounds great," she said and grabbed the vodka.
Sarah nodded, taking her hand and pulling her to their room. Once she was in she forced her down on the bed and began kneading her hands over her flesh. She was curious, but she knew that Evana wasn't the type of person to want to talk about this.
Evana slightly laid there on her stomach. Old memories ran through her head. Maverick's smiling face and his promises. It all seemed so stupid now. They were so young. Foolish. Sarah moved her shirt up, working it off of Evana. Her hands ran masterfully over her back, rubbing and kneading all the right spots as she straddled her butt.
"Will you help me make sure he doesn't smoke in the house? I'm afraid if I catch him...I really will kill him."
"I'll talk to him," she promised. "He's a bit of a brat sometimes, but he's not the type of person to put a kid in harm's way. He'll smoke outside."
Evana nodded as he eyes closed. "Thanks."
"You're welcome." She leaned over and kissed the spot between Evana's neck and shoulder, gently teasing it with her teeth, trying to ease whatever pain she was feeling. Evana moved her head face down and buried her face in the bed and covers. Slightly, she cried. Sarah bit her lip as she watched Evana. She leaned down and hugged her close to her. "Do you...want to talk about it?"
For a long time, Evana laid there and thought about it. What harm could it do? Sarah wouldn't tell. And as long as it didn't get out, Maverick wouldn't care. She wiped her face on the blanket and turned her head back to the side.
"I was sixteen or seventeen, I can't remember. Maverick and I were having a lot of fun, goofing around. Everything was just a game until I got pregnant. I was going to have twins. Maverick...was so excited," she said softly as she stared at the wall. "We weren't in love but it didn't change anything. We knew that getting pregnant was so hard these days so we decided to raise them together. Two months later I had a miscarriage. At first, we were just disappointed, like we disappointed the human race because I wasn't able to carry. But a few months later, I got pregnant again. This time, Maverick pulled out everything he had. He set me up in a room and waited on me hand and foot." Memories flooded her mind as she thought of Maverick coming home with baby things. "I had never seen him so happy and it wasn't long before he purposed to me. He knew we weren't in love but we felt like we owed it to the baby to try and fall in love. So I accepted. We made a lot of plans and Maverick had already furnished a baby room." Her hand fisted on the sheets and she closed her eyes, willing the tears back in her head. "I delivered a still born. It was a boy... Maverick....Maverick was so broken. He cried for days. After we buried him, I gave back the ring and left. Staying just wasn't an option even if he didn't kick me out. It just wasn't right. It didn't feel right. We never spoke again, not until we met up here."
"Evana," Sarah whispered. She had guessed that something had happened between them with the way she acted this morning, but not this. Not at all. "I can't even begin to imagine how hard that must have been on both of you."
"I guess he finally got the baby he wanted. It's why I would kill Sven if he caused anything to happen. If Angelia died...I really don't think Maverick would be able to take it. After everything we have been through together, I have a lot of guilt. Though I know it's not my fault that I couldn't give him children, it's hard to pretend that I'm not a failure. He so easily got me pregnant and I just couldn't deliver them right. I'm almost positive that if he sticks with Lana...she will get pregnant by him too. I really hope that she will have better luck. I don't want him giving her the same look her gave me all those years ago. She will end up wanting to leave to," she said softly.
"It's not your fault, Evana. The radiation makes it hard for any female to give birth. Maverick might have magic sperm, but it's still not your fault." She kissed her temple, rolling off of her so that she could lay beside her. "Whatever look he gave you...you didn't deserve it."
"He didn't mean it. He just needed someone to blame. He was hurting a lot."
"That didn't give him the right to blame or hurt you."
"You weren't there. You have no idea what it was like. He had every right to blame me. I didn't want kids. I hated being in that room for those months. I resented him so much because he talked me into going through with it. Even while I was pushing, all I could think about was if I really wanted this. It wasn't until I didn't hear the crying that I realized how selfish I was being. I was only thinking of myself. And now...I had a dead baby in my arms. Maverick walked in and kissed my head then took our son and cried. My heart cracked. Then he looked at me, those eyes so sad and broken...and I just knew...I knew it was my fault." She sighed. "It doesn't matter. It's over now."
Sarah rubbed her back and listened. When she was through, all she could do was kiss her forehead and nod. "Yes. It's over now. I'll make certain that Sven doesn't do anything stupid. I promise."
Evana rolled over and looked at her. "As far as anyone knows, this conversation never happened. And Lana, of all people, can never know. I don't want her thinking that she's obligated to give him children should she and he end up together."
"Well duh. I'm a bitch, but I'm not heartless. I wouldn't do that to her...or you."
"Thanks. I'm grateful."
"Don't mention it. Just screw me later and we'll call it even," she teased.
She smiled. "I can do that."
"Of course you can. That's why I'm here in your bed."
Evana laughed.
"So, you want to work out your pent up agression with rough sex, or do you want me to finish massaging you?"
"Kinda just want to lay here and enjoy the moment." After a few moments of silence she groaned. "Oh, hell. I'm bored." Rolling over she laid on top of Sarah and pushed her tongue in her mouth.
Maverick watched the screen as his maid packed Angelia's bags. "Bring the other dress. The red one looks better," he said and the maid nodded then grabbed the other tiny dress. Lana walked over and looked at Angelia sleeping peacefully in the background of the screen.
"How long will it take them to get here?"
"They should be here by night fall. My maid has my car." He looked over at her with a smile as he pushed her hair behind her ear.
"I suppose I'll be sleeping alone then..." she said softly.
"Why?" She looked up at him. "Angelia will have a crib in my room but that doesn't mean there isn't enough room in here for you." He pulled her chin up and kissed her cheek. "I want you and her to get to know each other."
"But...I don't know anything about babies..."
On the screen, Maverick's maid listened with narrow eyes. Angrily, she packed her things.
Xavier knocked on the door, smiling when Lana opened it. "So everything is set for them. I've cleared a few things, and she shouldn't have any problems getting here safely."
"Thank you for your understanding. I promise that you will have no obligation to her when I am gone. My maid will look after her," he promised.
"Oh don't be so stiff Maverick. I wouldn't have said yes if I was worried about what I was going to do while you're away," he smiled.
Maverick smiled. He turned to the screen. "Don't jostle her, Marie. She's two months old," he said as he watched his maid dress Angelia.
"Oh! Yes, sir. I will be more careful," she said quickly.
"Is there anything else that you think you'll need? I'll need a list so I can have them here by tonight."
Lana handed him a list of things Maverick made earlier while Maverick watched his maid load Angelia in her car seat, making sure everything was perfect. "He...made this up."
Xavier nodded and patted her head. "This will be an interesting challenge for you," he said with a small wink as he turned to leave.
"What?" she asked nervously. "But...but..." Why did he sound like she was married?!?
Xavier stopped and turned around with a wide smile. "Yes?"
She leaned into him. "I'm not the mother," she whispered.
"Oh of course not," he laughed.
"And...I'm not married..."
"Of course you're not."
"Then...why...would it be a challenge?"
"Why wouldn't it be? Taking care of a child is never easy. Just as dealing with relationships aren't easy."
"I'm...not taking care of a child..."
He smiled and patted her head. "Of course you aren't...yet."
"What is that suppose to mean?" she asked softly and moved his hand off her head.
"You like Maverick, right?"
She blushed and looked back at Maverick as he said goodbye to his maid. Slowly, she nodded.
"Well Maverick loves his daughter. You can't have one without the other."
She sighed. "Yes...I know...but she is his daughter...I don't know anything about babies...I don't think I should take care of her."
"That doesn't mean that you should try. Consider it training for when you have your own little bundle of joy."
"Me?!?" she paled.
"You what?" Maverick asked as he walked over to them.
"Just talking about babies. Lana is quite curious about them. Perhaps you should give her some instructions and guidelines before your daughter arrives," he said with a wide grin.
Maverick smiled. "You want children, Lana?"
"Well...I...um...I just...."
Xavier waved to them. "This seems like a personal conversation. I'll stay out of it."
"Why would it be personal?"
He shrugged. "Because she's blushing madly and looking at me. I think she'd rather talk to you about that when I'm not here."
Maverick ran his hand over Lana's cheek. "I suppose you are correct."
Lana blushed brighter. How in the world did Xavier even find out about her and Maverick!?! No one knew!
"Bye bye!" He gave her one last devilish grin before disappearing to his room.
"Children?"
"May...be..."
Maven stood outside, closing his eyes and enjoying the feeling of the wind on his face. Zenith flew above him, taking the chance to stretch her wings.
"So, are you enjoying yourself?"
He looked back to see Xavier there. He nodded slowly and smiled. "Yeah, I am."
"Will you be going with them on their next mission?"
"No. Probably not. Skyla wants to return to her forest, and I'm going with her. I'm no help to them."
"Really? Huh. I would have figured this place would have interested you. Their next target is the Xenomorph training facility."
Maven stopped and swallowed hard, his heart beat increasing. "What?"
"Morning," Sarah said while still fondling Evanna's breasts.
Lana waved. She bit into the apple then grabbed some drinks from the fridge. Maverick came in. "Um...water or juice?"
