The sun woke them all up. Maverick made sure that everyone ate and had enough energy for the ride ahead. Once everyone was in the car, he took off, following the digital map.

"Hope everyone's in for the long haul. We should be getting there about noon which means we'll be out in broad daylight in a terrain without much cover. Just remember if bullets start flying to serpentine."

"Yeah yeah," Evana said rolling her eyes.

"Hey, I'm just giving you guys a heads up," he muttered.

"I think we all get it. Don't die. Pretty much it."

"Well sure, if you want to say it the boring way."

"Not the boring way. Just the easy and blunt way."

"Yes, well no one would ever dare call you tactful."

"Just shut up for once. No one listens to you anyways."

"I'll remember that the next time you come in begging for me to screw you."

"I don't beg. I take."

He smirked. "I consider that a challenge. Next time you're so begging for it."

"Shut up. Both of you," Maverick said as he pulled on the side of the road. They were there.

"Sure thing oh captain, my captain." Sven rolled his eyes and pulled out a cigarette. Lighting it, he took a long draw before grabbing his suitcase. The others followed in behind him. The base was an underground fortress. Getting through the front door would either require hacking it or smashing it. "I'll try to hotwire it. Probably a lot less alarms if we go that route."

Lana made sure her gun was loaded and she had extra clips while Evana cracked her knuckles. Skyla shifted. She felt like she was the only one without something to contribute.

Maven took her hand as they walked up to the front area. The door was more like the bulkhead of a warship. Easily twelve feet high and probably equally thick. Sven set to work opening up the plate and hooked up an electronic device to it. After several minutes of tinkering he frowned as he hit a switch.
"That should do som-" A powerful electrical surge traveled through his device, shooting him back and knocking him on his ass. "Ow...." He coughed. Sitting up, he groaned and dusted himself off. "Boris...smash."

Boris chuckled and set Hailey down. Cracking his knuckles, he went up to the door and slammed his fist into it. There was the loud echoing sound of his fist hitting the door, but for the first time for as long as he could remember it was Boris who gave. He winced and pulled back. There wasn't even a dent on the door. "I...am afraid that this door is unlike anything I've encountered before."

"Great. So we can't hack it and we can't smash it. Now what?" Sven muttered angrily. "I guess it makes sense though. If they were housing Xenomorphs here it's likely that some were as strong as Boris. They would need strong doors to keep them in." He frowned as he looked at the building. "I never thought about it before, but you have to wonder was all this security to keep others out or the Xenos in?"

Maven looked at the door and at the keypad. He shook his head slowly as he took a few hesitate steps toward it.

"Maybe...and Xenomorph has to open it..." Skyla said softly.

"Nah. It has to be military personnel only. Sarah, you want to give it a try?"

"Right. Like they didn't blacklist me after I took the Lieutenant's head off?" Sven shrugged, and she sighed. Going up to the door, she put her finger on the pad. It glowed and scanned it.

"Identity invalid. Intruder alert."

"Ah shit!" Sven yelled as guns started to come out. Everyone quickly moved to covering positions. In the chaos that ensued, Maven walked up to the door, seemingly oblivious to all that happened around him. He placed his thumb on the pad like Sarah and it ran over his print. Then a little orb dropped down and scanned his eyes. "Identity confirmed. Welcome."

Suddenly the guns quit firing and returned to their normal spots.

"What the hell just happened?"

"Maven..." Skyla whispered.

"How the hell would he be in the system?" She snapped her head to Skyla. "You said that he lost his memory but you can see into the past. Why didn't you say he was part of the fucking military!?"

"I...I didn't see it...I didn't know..." Skyla said softly.

"I'm...I'm not a part of the military," he said softly, shaking his head as the door opened for him, all but throwing out the welcome mat. "I lived in a small city. I was there most of my life...."

"You are so fucking lying!"

"Enough, Evana." Maverick looked at Skyla. "How could you not know?"

Skyla shifted. She looked at Maven then at Maverick. She couldn't lie to him but she didn't want Maven to seem like the bad guy. Taking a deep breath, she went over the few things she had put together. She told them about the holo screen and Maven's past fiancé on it. She also explained that she had a theory about his memories being altered or hidden. She told them she tried to unlock them which resulted in her being forced out roughly.

"So basically what you're telling us is that Maven could be a fucking monster and we don't know it, or worse he could be a sleeper agent for the military. Well that's just fucking wonderful."

Maven was quiet at this. He stood at the gaping entrance, watching as lights flickered on the floor and ceiling, beckoning him to go in.

"It's not like that! He's a good person! I know it! His past is gone. How can you claim him a monster or an agent when he doesn't remember!?" Skyla cried in Maven's defense.

"We all see what it's like when he gets a little mad, Skyla! What happens if he fucking snaps?" Evana said coldly.

"We can't accuse him of anything until we know more and right now isn't the time. We have a mission. Let's finish it."

"Right. Well psycho up there can take the lead on this one. Any guns that would be aiming for us will just turn the other way so long as he's in front. Also that way I can keep a gun on him."

Maven bowed his head and nodded. "O-okay," he said softly, not bothering to look back at the others as he started inside. Zenith cawed loudly at everyone, she was flapping about frantically, but no one even paid her any mind. As Maven started inside the building, she fell silent. Ruffling her feathers, she sighed and flew in with him, landing on his shoulder and nuzzling him.

"Why do all fucking military bases have to be creepy as hell?" Sarah muttered as she cocked her gun.

"Too much metal...it's hard to think in here..." Skyla said. She was doing her best to keep control and stay on her feet as they walked. Lana moved to her side and Maverick moved to her other, watching her closely in case she fell to her knees.

They went past room after room. Each one designed differently. Some had large straps and tables to hold people still. Others were environmental chambers. Some were radiation chambers, some looked like torture chambers, and others were simply drenched in blood. Maven walked down the halls as if he knew where he was going. In reality he had no idea what was going on, it was as if his feet had a mind of their own. Stopping in front of another large door, he hesitated before repeating the scanner process.

"Access granted."

The door slid open revealing a large master computer and several screens. Sven wasted no time pushing Xavier into the core. Soon he appeared on the screens as they all lit up.

"Oh! That was quick. Have you guys had fun?" He whistled as he began going through the data. One by one the computer screens changed to what looked like training sessions with different Xenomorphs. It was hard to tell who was who since they all wore the same attire. Black battle armor, black coats, and black masks. There was one of a kid setting fire to people, burning them at different temperatures and different ways to gain better control of their powers. Another was freezing people and shattering them, trying his best to keep their organs intact while just freezing their skin, or freezing their inside and leaving their skin intact.

There was one where a Xenomorph was chained to a chair and bound so that he couldn't move. The camera was focused on four people in front of him. "Kill them," a voice ordered. The male was the first to go. He screamed and clutched his head as his head slowly began to twist against its will as if invisible hands were twisting it. There was a sickening crack, and suddenly his head was ripped from his shoulders. The lady with the baby was next. Her arms twisted at odd angles, making her drop the baby. Before it could hit the ground the baby was caught by the same invisible force. The woman screamed for her baby to be spared, but her screams were cut short as she was brought to her knees, her face inches from her baby just in time for the baby to be crushed into a bloody pulp. She screamed but no sound came out as she went flying back against the wall, splattering into a gory mess. The final person, a young kid was the ripped to shreds by the same force.

"Excellent Sixteen. You are progressing well. Your handler should be very proud I...I...stop! Help! Stop this!" The screen was suddenly covered in blood as the officer fell to the ground with a missing head.

Skyla backed away. Did no one see it but her? Did not one see that that person had the same power as Maven?! Her body was shaking. There was just too much metal! She felt like she was in a box.
"I...have to get out of here..."

"Just hold on a little longer," Lana said softly as she turned from the monitor with tears streaming down her eyes.

Skyla placed her hands on her head. It was just too hard to think. And those images....should couldn't help much cry. She didn't want to be here. She didn't want to be anywhere near here. It wasn't right. Nothing was right. Couldn't they feel it?

Sven was too busy with the computers. Sarah was guarding the hall. Boris had his hands full with Hailey who was trying to look at the medical equipment in the next room. No one saw. No one but Maven, and he was too transfixed by the screen. The next seconds made his heart break. A girl walked over the dead body, smiling as she leaned forward and kissed the Xenomorph on the mask. "That's my Sixteen," she whispered.Maven's hand twitched, the monitor suddenly flying out of the wall and smashing into the ground in front of him.
"C-can we hurry up please?"

Skyla knew that voice. That was...Farrah's voice. Too much metal. "I have to get out now!" she screamed as blood started coming out of her ears.

Maverick turned to her. Lifting her up gracefully he started to the door. Did no one see? Did no one know? Couldn’t that tell that the place was wrong? Couldn't they tell that it was a burial site....a grave. No one should be there...no one should ever be there. Her head hurt so bad. She had never felt so much pressure on her brain. It was like someone was crushing her.

"Xavier?"

"Yes, yes. I just copied the rest of the files directly to your holo pad. Just bring that back with you."

"Right." Sven yanked it out and nodded at Sarah and Evana. He slipped past them, Maven's back to them. "Hailey, do you think you could make Maven not move?"

Hailey nodded and threw a pin in Maven's back before grabbing a handful of medical equipment in her little arms.

Maven tensed before his body went limp and he fell down
. "Evana, grab him. I really don't want him freaking out while we're beneath three stories of metal and dirt."

"No problem," she said and lifted Maven over her shoulder. Lana looked down the hall. She couldn't hear Maverick running anymore so she assumed her was already outside with his speed.

"Okay then. We've got the data, let's not stay here any longer," he ordered, shouldering his rifle as they hurried back the way they came. "Crap. Maven took too many turns. Anyone remember how to get out of this hell hole? All the hallways look the same."

"I do," Lana said and moved to the front.

Maverick looked at the man in front of him. His grip was tight on Skyla as she laid limply in his arms, passed out from the pressure in her head. Blood dripped on the ground at his feet from her ears. His eyes were hard. A bunch of men in black had guns pointed at him. He was fast, faster than any bullet, but with Skyla in his arms, he would be slower than normal. He hugged Skyla to him tighter and prayed the others wouldn't come out.

As Lana lead them to the front, Sven was busy fiddling with the memory unit.
"Damn it. All that data just about fried my holo grid. Xavier better as hell give me a new...one...." He stopped as they exited through the front, cursing as he saw all the guns pointed at him. "You must be friends with Maverick there. Don't worry. We won't interrupt, we'll just be going this way." Sven pointed to the way their car was parked and started walking toward it. A bullet hitting the ground by his foot made him stop.

"Sorry, but it's not going to work that way," a rough voice said.

Sarah turned toward the voice, raising her gun.
"Sheperd you bastard!"

Shepherd stepped out from the crowd and smiled. "Gonna shoot me?"

"Are you the real one?" Her finger tightened on the trigger.

"Won't know unless you shoot. Of course if you do, my boys are going to shoot back and all your little friends will be dead."

Sarah looked back at the others, her eyes washing over Lana, Hailey, Sklya, and Evana.
"Fuck you," she hissed as she lowered her gun.

"Good girl. Now it seems you have something that belongs to me." With that his gaze fell to Maven.

Maverick looked behind him slightly but not letting his guard down. Hailey was hiding in Boris's arms and Evana's jaw was tight.
"Move behind me," he said softly to Lana. Slowly she moved behind him.

Evana's grip tightened on Maven.
"Let me guess, he's got just what you need for world domination."

"Something like that. Subject Sixteen was a psychopath. No one could kill quite like he could. You should have seen him during the massacre. He was marvelous. I thought he was lost, but you saw fit to bring him back. As soon as I got an alert saying that he unlocked this base, I knew I had to come back and get him. Give him to me and the rest of you can continue serving that fool, Xavier."

"So you get psycho boy and we get to live?"

"Correct."

Sven shrugged.
"That doesn't seem so bad."

Sarah glared at him and stomped on his foot. There was a screech as Zenith flew toward Shepherd. He looked up just in time for her to land at his face, clawing and pecking at him. He cursed, grabbing hold of her and throwing her to the ground before kicking her. "Damn bird. You always were a nuisance."

"If you want him, you are going to have to go through us," she said and pulled the pin out of Maven's back then set him to his feet. "And trust me, putting Skyla in danger will cause him to go in for the kill."

Maverick looked at her. Was she planning to use Skyla as bait?!!
