This I Promise You
Prologue
We were sitting on the sand by the water. The sun was seetting, leaving the sky an orangish color. It had been a long day...Prologue
"No! Jun! Don't go!" Mika yelled out.
"I'll come back for you, don't worry," Jun ran back to her and kissed her of what may be the last time. "I promise..." was the last words he spoke before he slowly walked away.
Mika began to cry. Mumbling things to herself. Her knees gave out and she fell to the floor. She brough her knees to her face and tears rand down her legs. Her and Jun have been best friends since anyone could remember. Not even a month ago, they officially stated that they were together. But now...Jun's parents are making him move back to Japan to live with his grandparents. They thought it would be a great idea for him to study his last years of school there.
For about an hour, we were both queit. I looked over to her and I could tell she was thinking about her sister. She looked so much like her, except, since Mika was older she looked older. But other than that, they could be identical.
"Promise me that you won't forget me?" She said suddenly, which brought me back to reality. I had been staring at her, but I don't think she noticed, she was still gazing at the water. Her eyes holding a far away look.
"Hmm?" Was all I managed to get out.
"Yoh-kun," She looked at me. "Promise me that if we ever get separated, we'll remember each other?" She said in that soft voice of hers. The soft voice she used whenever she was sad.
"Yeah, I promise Miki," I said. So she was thinking about her sister. Being separated from someone you're really close to is really hard. I didn't want that.
"And promise me that if we get separated, we'll find each other again and make sure we'll stay together forever?" Tears started to run down her cheeks. I scooted closer to her and held her in my arms.
"I promise..." It made me uneasy for a moment, but I thought about it. I really like her and I guess it was worth the promise.
And for the time remaining, we just sat there. The sky getting darker as her cries began to soften.
"I'll keep my promise, Miki...don't worry..."
