"Then I will stay...for you."
She opened her mouth to say something but his cell suddenly rang. She reached over and grabbed it from the floor. "It's someone named Katherine..."
Leo reached out and answered. "Hello?"
"I got your flowers...I love roses. Listen. I thought about it and I think I'll take you up on that dinner tonight. Meet me in an hour at the same place?"
He looked to Gia and nodded, though she couldn't see it. "Yeah, I'll meet you there," he said. Hanging up the phone, he put it down and sighed. "It seems that I have dinner plans."
Gia's heart fell. "Your...fiancé?"
He nodded. "Yes. She wants to have dinner with me."
"Oh..." she said then nodded. Slipping out of bed, she gathered he clothes and handed him his.
He took what she gave him, reaching out, he caressed her cheek and smile. "I will see you later."
She smiled and nodded. "Goodnight, Master."
"Goodnight, Gia." With that he disappeared down to his room to take a shower and get ready.
Gia slipped to her bathroom and closed the door. Tears welled up in her eyes but she wiped them away and crawled in the shower. Was this considered cheating? Was she the other woman?
"Katherine, you look lovely this evening," Leo said when he finally met her.
Katherine stood. She pushed her black curls from her hair and gestured to his seat. "I know it's a bit late, but I figured you wouldn't mind. I ordered for you."
"Oh...thank you. No, late is fine for me." He smiled and sat beside her.
She sat and grabbed her drink, sipping on it slightly. "It's spring now. I think we should do a fall wedding. Something small. Very small. Just the two of us. Say, November?"
"November sounds like a good time. A small wedding sounds good as well."
"Good. I will have your things moved to my place the day we signed the papers."
"Your place? I thought you could come live with me."
"My place is bigger and let's face it, Leo. Your place needs a hell of a lot of work."
"I didn't think that my place was all that bad. I haven't really had any problems with it."
"Because you only go to your room, your office, and the kitchen," she groaned. "No matter. You are moving. That's that."
He didn't like that, but he had learned not to argue with her. "Very well."
"There will be no need for your staff, so give them notice. And send that girl back already. I don't want a child running around in my home pretending to play maid."
"I cannot just send her back. She is an orphan, Katherine. There isplace to send her back."
"That is not our problem. Just send her back, Leo. This is not up for discussion."
"I'm afraid I will have to disagree. I cannot just sit by and let her go to the streets."
She set her glass down. "Leo, if you don't send her back, I will be forced to take care of it when we are married just like I'm taking on your burdens, I will have another thing to fix from your messes."
"She is not a mess. She is trying to become a doctor, Katherine. I have enough money to pay for her schooling. I will simply let her stay at my house once we are married since you are so adamant about me coming to live with you."
"Oh please, I'm having that thing sold, Leo." She held up her glass and her wine was filled. "Anyway, I figured you could come to my place tonight...it's been a while since you stayed in my bed."
Leo fell silent for a moment. Taking a deep breath, he nodded. "Alright."
"Good. You will see that in the next few years, I am what's best for your company and your remaining years," she said and brought the glass to her lips again. The rest of dinner was spent talking about business and afterwards they retaired to her house.
Gia waited up for Leo, pacing and staring at the clock. By three in the morning...she finally realized he wasn't coming home. Why would he come home to her? She was just a student leaving off him and playing maid. She was nothing... Nothing at all. Wiping her eyes again, she closed his office door. Once in her room, she crawled in her bed which lingered with his scent. She threw her pillow on the ground, crying softly until she fell asleep.
Leo left her house early that morning and went to work. Despite his better thoughts, he showed the board Gia's plans that she had made. He was quite shocked to hear that the board would actually consider the plans and see if they could indeed help his business. He was hoping against hope that they might be able to turn things around. Returning home, he was grateful for the silence the house provided, though he was curious why Rosemarie wasn't there. She should be there waiting for him....
Gia took notes in her new classes and in between them, she worked on the business plans she had long since started on for Leo. She finished them by the time school was over though...she wasn't ready to go home. Instead, she sent the driver home and went to the library to study instead of studying at Leo's house.
Leo called up everyone he knew trying to find, Rosemarie, and when he got his answer it was not what he had been hoping for. Sitting in his office, alone, he poured himself a glass of wine and sipped it slowly, letting the silence consume him while he worked.
It was after dinner when Gia finally came home, having walked from the library. She went up to her room with a yawn and closed the door, landing on the bed with a content sigh.
It was barely a few minutes after she arrived that Leo opened up her door, a glass of wine in his hand. "Gia, how was your day?" he asked in a soft tone.
She quickly sat up. "Oh...I didn't think you would be home. Fine thank you... Are you hungry?"
"I'm okay, but...Gia, we need to talk." She moved her books off the bed for him. He sat down beside her and took her hand. "Rosemarie...will not be coming back." She tilted her head, obviously confused. "She got into a car accident on her way to work this morning. She did not make it."
Gia paled. "Oh..." she fisted her dress and shook her head. "Poor Rosemarie..."
"Yes," he whispered.
"I'll take over her duties starting tomorrow..." she said softly.
"Do not worry about that. I am quite capable of doing my own laundry and keeping the house clean. Just focus on your studies."
"Yes, Master..."
He caressed her cheek and sat his wine glass down by her bed. "I am sorry that I did not return last night."
She pulled her face from him. "I'm really tired...I've been studying all day..."
"I see.... Forgive me, Gia. I did not mean to hurt you." He stood and walked out, allowing her the time alone.
She laid back on her bed and curled up into a ball. She couldn't wait for the feeling to just go away. Leo sat back down and closed his eyes. Laying on his bed, he stared up at the ceiling, watching the clock ticking away.
In the morning, Gia was awake before him. She laid the business papers on his desk then grabbed her books and left. The car took her to the school even though no classes had started. She went straight for the library to study until her classes started.
"Gia?" He knocked on her door and frowned when he saw that she had already left. Shaking his head, he went back to his office, but stopped when he saw the papers on his desk. Fixing his glasses, he started looking them over.
Once again, Gia stayed in the library after school. She had her books spread out over the table while she studied and wrote things down. That night when she arrived, Leo was waiting for her. "Come. Sit. We need to talk once more." She juggled her books and sat down. "I take it that you left those papers on my desk?"
"Oh, yes. Just something I was thinking of in my free time. Just doodling really..." she said softly as she sat there.
"Well, I feel that I owe you a great deal thanks to your doodles. The board seems to really like them."
Her eyes widened. "Really!? I'm glad to help!"
"I would like to treat you. What do you want? Name it and it’s yours."
"Really...I just want to go to my room and study. There is a lot more work to do to become a doctor than a nurse..."
"Please, let me do something for you," he insisted.
She shifted. "Anything at all?"
"Yes, of course."
"I...I want you to break things off with your fiancé..." she whispered as she looked down at her lap.
He froze and blinked, trying to comprehend what she had just said. "What...did you just say?"
She stood and grabbed her books. "It really is late, Master. I have a very big test and I'm already very tired. Please, I need to study."
He reached up and took her hand. "Tell me why you want me to do that?"
She pulled her hand from him. "I need to study," she whispered and walked out.
He sat there, more confused and troubled than he had ever been before. Going to the kitchen, he poured himself another glass of wine before retiring to his room.
Gia nearly beat herself with her desk when she got to her room. It wasn't her place to say something like that! But he did say she could ask for...anything...
In his bathroom was an entire wall dedicated to nothing but medicine. It was his vain hope that the right combination might prolong his suffering. Taking his nightly regiment, he downed it with wine and shuddered before undressing and retiring for the evening.
Once more in the morning, Gia was up and ready for Leo. She gathered her books with a yawn and sluggish walk as she headed to the door.
That morning, Leo did not meet her at the door. In fact, he did not get up at all. The house was silent, and his room was locked. Gia waited for a bit longer than normal. Setting her books down, she went up to his room and knocked. "Master? You will be late for work."
The only sound which was audible through his door was the loud sound of coughing. "Gia..."
Gia turned the knob. Frantically she beat on the door. "Master! Master!" she cried. Looking around she grabbed a small statue and started banging on the door handle to break it. "Please hold on!"
The door know twisted and the door opened slowly. Leo stood before her, a tissue covered in blood held over his mouth and not a shred of clothing on him. "Gia...I need...hospital," he said in gasps as he held onto the wall for support.
She ran to the phone and called 911. As soon as she mentioned Leo's name an ambulance was on its way to their house. Gia helped Leo down the stairs and by the time they got there, the door swung open and the ambulance rushed to them. Gia wanted to go with them in the ambulance, but they stopped her."Sorry, family only.""But...he doesn't have anyone else here..." Gia objected.
"I'm sorry, Miss."They closed the doors and Gia watched them drive off. Running to the car, she asked the driver to follow then ambulance. For hours, Gia waited in the waiting room with no word. Because she wasn't family, they couldn't tell her anything. So she waited...and waited....and waited.
Finally, she saw a familiar face. "Um...excuse me?"Katherine turned to her. "You? What are you doing here? Don't you have school or work or something?" Katherine said bitterly.
"I just want to know if Master is-""It's none of your concern. Leave.""But I'm really worr-""Do you not listen? I said go," Katherine snapped. "Ungrateful brat."Gia sank back, heart crushed. How could Leo want to be with someone like that? "Yes...alright..." she whispered. Slowly, she walked out and went back to the car. The afternoon sun beamed down on her face as she walked to the car and got in. Though it was beautiful out...Gia felt like there were thunderstorms in her heart.
Leo was in and out of his stupor. This was due in part to his condition and the medicine they kept him on. This wasn't the first time he had a mild relapse. Usually Rosemarie would take care of these things for him. She would help him to the hospital and watch over him until he was well enough to leave. He was curious who was going to look after him now. It was a childish thought, but one that he found to be rather pressing at the current moment.
"The idiot was drinking while taking his medicine?" Katherine asked bitterly. The doctor nodded. "If he wants to die so badly, he's really sucking at it." She sighed. "Just tell him I stopped by when he comes to."
"You...aren't staying?" the doctor asked.
"Why should I stay? He obviously is doing it for attention. Who takes medication with alcohol? It's brainless and not my damn problem," she said with narrow eyes then walked out.
Leo heard the commotion outside and closed his eyes. So that was it, was it? He waited until she was gone to sit up and take the breathing mask off. Slowly he started undoing his IV's. He'd been through this all before. He would be out in an hour or so band back to work.
The doctor walked in and sighed. "Leaving so soon? Should I call for your driver?"
"Yes," he said slowly. "I should really get back to work now that the episode has passed...."
"If you insist..." he said. Moving to him, he helped that the things off him. "There was a young girl here for a long time asking about you. Of course, we couldn't release any information, but your fiancé told her to leave."
He sighed. "Of course she did. If this should happen again and the young girl asks, provide her with any information she wants."
"Alright. I will. Your fiancé was just here...she...hopes you feel better," he smiled and passed Leo his clothes.
Leo smirked and nodded. "Yes. I overhead."
He sighed. "That woman will kill you before your time..."
"Do not look so glum. Either way my life insurance policy will kick in and things will start looking better. Besides, life is overrated," he smiled.
"Judging by the look on that girl's face...she wouldn't agree..." he said. "I'll sign you out and send for your car." He left and went back to his office.
Leo nodded and by the time his car arrived he was already dressed and waiting for it.
Gia set another large dish on the old dining room table. When she was nervous or upset...she cooked. And she had been cooking since she got home. The table was covered in all kinds of goodies and yet none of it had been touched.
"Something certainly smells good," Leo said, setting his things down on the counter as he walked over to the table to see what all she had been preparing.
Gia jumped and turned to him. "Master! You are home!" she smiled. She ran to him and wrapped her arms around him. "I've been so worried and no one told me anything!"
He gently stroked her back and smiled down at her. "There was no need to worry. This happens occasionally. I will have a bad flare up and have to spend some time in the hospital."
She pulled back. "I'm so glad you are ok. Um...hungry?" she gestured to all the food.
"I do believe I could eat something. I see that you have been quite busy," he teased.
"Oh, yes. I cook when I'm upset..." she said and pulled back his chair for him. "I cleaned the whole house today. There was so much dust and cobwebs. But not everything is shiny and the windows all washed, letting the sun light in! You have such a lovely home!"
"You really have been busy...." He looked around the parts of the house he could see, noticing that all the curtains were pulled back so that the house would be brighter.
"There...was nothing else to do...and...all the worry was making me go mad." When he sat, she made him a plate and sat it in front of him. "Enjoy," she smiled.
"Sit and eat some yourself. You did make it after all, and now that I'm here you don't have to worry." She hesitated but slowly sat down at the table and fixed herself a plate. "This is really good. Where did you learn to cook?"
"In the orphanage. As I've said, they were very short handed on adults so the older kids learned to help where needed. If it wasn't for the orphanage, I wouldn't know how to cook or clean or do a lot of things."
"Well...I must say, this is the best I've ever had."
"I'm so glad, Master!" she beamed.
He ate nearly two and a half plates’ worth of food before leaning back and sighing. "If you keep making this I'm going to get fat!"
"I'll have to cook for you more often. From now on, every night you will have a wonderful meal to eat!"
"Oh please, do not bother yourself," he smiled. "I can barely fit into my clothes as it is."
"I want to do it, Master!"
"If you really want to...then I would be happy to eat it."
She smiled. Standing, she took their plates to the kitchen. Afterward, she came back in and put all the food away. He stood from the table, rubbing his full stomach with a yawn. Gia cleaned silently in her little uniform. She made sure everything was nice and clean. Sitting down in the recliner in the living room, he watched her from afar. Her skirt rose up in the back, so every time she bent over a little too far he was able to get a brief glimpse of her panties.
After finishing in the kitchen, she moved to the living room. "I haven't finished completely in here, so don't mind me," she smiled and handed him the remote to the TV. Going to the shelves, she stood on her toes and reached up to dust and clean.
He bit his lip, thinking what a dirty old man he was like to be watching her clean like this. He couldn't take his eyes off of her, watching as she cleaned and her clothes moved about her. Gia pouted when she dropped something on the floor. It slid under the table and she got to her knees and reached for it. Her ass was sticking up in the air, her panties on full display for him. He felt a growing bulge in his pants and a small trickle of blood trail down his nose. Swallowing hard, he dabbed at it. He was going to hell....
"Got it!" she said and sat back on her knees.
He cleared his throat and started to stand. "I think I should retire for the evening...."
"Are you not feeling well?" she frowned and stood. "If you want, I can give you a massage."

"Goodnight, Gia." With that he disappeared down to his room to take a shower and get ready.

"November sounds like a good time. A small wedding sounds good as well."
"Good. I will have your things moved to my place the day we signed the papers."

"I'm afraid I will have to disagree. I cannot just sit by and let her go to the streets."
She set her glass down. "Leo, if you don't send her back, I will be forced to take care of it when we are married just like I'm taking on your burdens, I will have another thing to fix from your messes."
