Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ Twilight Lake ❯ Chapter 7
“I am so glad we’re off that boat,” Ryo said as he stretched. It had seemed as though they were on the boat for eternity when in reality, it was only a few weeks. Ryo had learned to adjust to life on a boat some but Lee wished he was completely content with sea travel. Lee had taken it upon himself to get suggestions from the captain and the captain had graciously allowed Ryo the chance to do some work around the ship. Menial labor had helped Ryo burn off excess energy, which had made the rest of the trip bearable but Lee was beginning to wonder if Ryo was afraid of something else and not the close quarters on the ship. Was it possible that Ryo was afraid of water? Lee took a bag from the captain and handed it to Ryo who glanced at him as if he were just coming out of a daze.
“We should stay on this road,” Lee said as he looked over the map with Ryo and Ryo nodded his head.
“We’ ll reach the arcdemon village by this evening,” he said and sighed.
“Are you apprehensive?”
“About what?”
“The arcdemons.”
“No. The only difference between us and them is their feathers.”
“We don’t know anything about them. Their entire culture is more than likely different than ours.”
“They don’t know anything about us. We’re even. Stop Lee,” Ryo said and Lee looked at him.
“Why?” he asked and Ryo looked at him seriously.
“Will you behave?”
“Do I have to?”
“Lee...”
“Sorry. Honey...”
“Just take my hand and let’s go.”
“Gladly.”
“Take my left hand. I want to keep my right open just in case I have to use it. We're in a new land and I'd rather not take any chances.”
“Okay honey. I’ll take whatever I can get. Once we get there, will you do me in full force?”
“If you want it.”
“I do, I do.”
“Come on, honey.”
“I’m coming. You know, this road is beautiful. This whole place is beautiful. At least from what I've seen. I wonder if we can bring some of the plants back with us. Do you think they would stand the trip back to the castle? ”
“I don't know. It’s too quiet. I don’t like it. There’s no wildlife sounds out there.”
“Maybe there are none. What?” Lee asked and Ryo looked at him strangely.
“That was stupid," he said and Lee shrugged his shoulders.
“Well...”
“That was really stupid.”
“Ikara’s not here. Someone has to be stupid.”
“Don’t be stupid any more. It doesn't fit you. You're too smart to be stupid.”
“Okay.”
“We’re being watched,” Ryo said and Lee looked at him.
“Are we?” he asked and Ryo nodded his head.
“Yes.”
“What do you sense?”
“I’m not sure.”
“How can you not be sure?”
“I can’t sense whether or not they mean to do us harm.”
“Let’s keep walking then. We’re both armed. We also don't want to give them cause to attack us.”
“That seems to be the only logical solution. Keep your hand away from my tail.”
“Sorry, honey.”
“Let go of it.”
“What is it?”
“Keep quiet.”
Lee stood beside Ryo and watched him scan the area. There was something out there and Ryo was prepared for the worst. Being on the run from merciless killers had taught him to expect the worst. There was a rustle in the brush and Ryo drew out his sword slightly.
“Don’t attack. I mean you no harm,” a voice said as a human-like creature with feathered wings stepped out of the woods. The two demons stared at the newcomer in awe. His skin was pale and his folded wings were a rich creamy color. His hair was lavender and spiked and his eyes were light blue in color. They had never seen anything like it before and he was extremely curious about them.
“Do you come from the village?” Ryo asked as he dropped his hand.
“Yes. You two aren’t our people. Where do you come from What is your business here?”
“Across the ocean. We’ve come to speak with your village leader.”
“Why?”
“We seek directions to Twilight Lake.”
The arcdemon stopped and stared at Ryo and Lee. Lee noted the look of fear on the arcdemon’s face and wondered what they had gotten themselves into. He took Ryo’s hand and Ryo glanced at him. Something had definitely upset him. Perhaps the legend that Karu had told him was untrue. Legends had a tendency to blow things out of proportion.
“Why do you want to go to that lake?” the arcdemon inquired.
“I’m only following what my ancestor has done.”
“Your ancestor?”
“Shorel.”
The arcdemon knelt in respect and Lee brought himself closer to Ryo. Ryo glanced at Lee and shook his head. Lee lowered his head and pouted. Ryo ran a hand over Lee's hair and closed his eyes for a second then glanced at the arcdemon.
“Do you now see why we are here?” Ryo asked as the arcdemon stood up.
“Yes I do my lord. Please, allow me to escort you back to the village,” he said.
“Thank you…”
“Lenas. Forgive me for not introducing myself at first but I had no idea whether you were friend or foe. We are taught to be careful.”
“Lenas. That's an exotic name.”
“How did you come about the feathers?” Lee asked.
"We've had them as long as I can remember. There have been numerous stories as to how we came to be this way. Perhaps once we get to the village, I'll explain to you."
“Once we reach the village, I’ll tell you. It’s not far,” Lenas replied.
“Why are there no wildlife sounds in this area?” Ryo asked.
“It’s a peaceful environment,” Lenas replied.
“Are your wings soft like an animal’s fur? Or are they like a bird's feathers? ”
“Forgive me. This is the first time you have seen one of us, isn’t it? You may inspect me if you wish. I won't mind.”
“Behave honey,” Lee said and yelped when Ryo dug his nails into Lee’s arm.
“Don’t get jealous Lee,” Ryo hissed.
“I’m not jealous.”
Ryo walked over to Lenas and stroked his wings. Lee watched Lenas’ facial expressions and frowned. The arcdemon was clearly enjoying Ryo’s touch and it was making Lee jealous. He watched Ryo inspect Lenas’ skin and turned away in disgust. He didn't want to share Ryo with anyone. It had taken him six years to get Ryo and he didn't want to lose him to another now.
“That feels good,” Lenas said as Ryo ran his fingers over the arcdemon’s face.
“Your skin is so soft. It’s so different than our skin. I like it. Do you mind if I feel your legs?”
“Go ahead. I don’t mind.”
“Good. Shut up Lee."
“I haven’t said anything,” Lee said.
“I know but I can tell by your actions that you’re jealous,” Ryo said as he ran his hands down Lenas’ legs. His face grew red and Lee bared his teeth in anger. He had cause to be jealous. His beloved was, in a sense, playing with fire. He was practically making love in front of his mate.
“That feels good. I wish we had more interaction between the two groups,” Lenas said as he watched Ryo.
"Perhaps that will change one day," Ryo said and Lee bared his fangs.
“Are you going to make love or are we going to the village?” Lee asked.
“We’re going Lee. Are you free later?”
“Baby shut up.”
“I’m just being polite.”
“You’re being more than polite and it's pissing me off.”
“Let’s go to the village. Please direct us Lenas.”
“With pleasure my lord,” Lenas said and Ryo grinned.
“I’m interested. I think we can form a relationship between the two.”
“Ryo behave,” Lee said as he tugged on Ryo’s tail. Ryo’s eyes darkened as he grabbed Lee’s neck. His eyes grew wide as Ryo’s nails dug into his flesh.
“Don’t pull on it ever again,” Ryo hissed and Lee glared at him.
“Don’t make passes then.”
“I wasn’t making passes.”
“Really.”
“Lee for your own safety, don’t yank on it ever again. I may not be able to restrain myself next time.”
“I don’t want to lose you.”
“You’re not going to lose me.”
“Promise?”
“I promise Lee. I'm not going to leave you. I love you, you know that.”
“Thank you.”
Ryo ran his fingers through Lee’s hair and Lee sighed. He was glad he had gotten reassurance from Ryo. He had known, deep down in his heart, that Ryo would never leave him but he wanted to be sure about it. Ryo glanced down at him and smiled.
“My village my lord,” Lenas said as he stepped to the right. Lee looked around at the village and smiled. He had never seen any place so beautiful before. He could get a lot of design ideas from their culture.
“It’s beautiful. Look at the design. We could use something like this at the palace honey,” Lee said as he stroked Ryo's hand.
“Go check it out Lee,” Ryo said as a tall arcdemon with a long robe walked up to Lenas.
“What is the meaning of this Lenas? Who are these people?” the arcdemon asked.
“Rynna, he is Shorel’s descendant. He is traveling to Twilight Lake,” Lenas replied and the other arcdemon immediately dropped to his knees. Ryo glanced away for a moment, still slightly embarassed at the fuss everyone made about his position.
“It is an honor, your highness. It has been nearly twenty-three years since the last descendant came this way.”
“Twenty-three years ago? What was his name?” Ryo asked.
“Niezon,” Rynna replied and Ryo stared at him. How was that possible? His father had no reason to have a second lover. He had Lendas and Caedin.
“My father? But wait a second...”
“Your father’s companion looked a lot like your companion.”
“If that’s true, then Lee and I are…related.”
“What’s wrong honey?” Lee asked as he walked up to Ryo.
“Did your parents ever tell you about your origins?” Ryo asked.
“That’s stupid. My origins lie with my parents.”
“Are you sure?”
“What are you saying?”
“Twenty-three years ago, our parents came this way. At least that's what the story is. I don't know what to make of it. Did Lendas ever talk about something like that?”
“Are you serious?”
“Come, my lord, allow me to direct you to a temporary place of residency,” Lenas said as he took Ryo’s hand.
“Will you stay with us?” Ryo asked and Lee bared his teeth.
“Would you not tease like that honey?” he asked and Ryo grinned.
“Jealousy doesn’t fit you, honey. Go ahead and lead the way Lenas. Ignore Lee. He’s just complaining.”
“Go ahead and rest my lord. I have other things to take care of. I’ll come for you later,” Rynna said as Lenas opened the door to a house. He led the two into the bedroom and pointed to the bed. Ryo took off his sword and laid it on the floor. His tail twitched as it wrapped around his leg. Lee watched as Ryo stepped towards Lenas. He turned away in disgust as Ryo ran his hands over Lenas’ wings. Lenas blushed as Ryo kissed his lips. He drove his tongue into his mouth and Lenas choked slightly.
“He’s not used to our form of love darling,” Lee said as he took off his shirt. He watched Ryo's movements carefully. He had to make sure that Ryo was behaving himself.
“I’m sorry. I was curious. Are you all right?” Ryo asked as he lifted Lenas’ head.
“I’m recovering from the shock,” Lenas replied. "I'm afraid I've never been taken advantage of in such a way."
“Come away from him honey. He needs to recover,” Lee said as Ryo drew away from Lenas.
“My apologies Lenas,” Ryo said as Lee brought a hand to Ryo’s groin. Ryo flushed as Lee began to stroke it.
“Come on honey, let’s go lie down.”
“You can. I think you know what I want.”
“Yes I do. I’m looking forward to it baby.”
“Lee I can’t do it. We’re…related.”
“Are you sure? No one treated us like kin at the palace. Our own parents didn’t treat us like we were related. We don’t look anything alike. We can't be related. I also can't be so much in love with you if we're related.”
“How many companions can a king have?”
“I’m not sure. What are you driving at darling?”
“Perhaps my father had another relationship. Perhaps he came this way twenty-three years ago with a second lover. But then what Karu has told us about my parents...I don't know what to do. I don't know what to think."
“But why?”
“I don’t know. Apparently he looked somewhat like you because Rynna saw a resemblance between you and him.”
“So does that mean you have a brother?”
“I’m not exactly sure what this means. If it's true, wouldn't Karu have mentioned it to me? He's the one that's been alive the longest out of all of us at the castle. But then if these people say they saw someone like me here...”
"Perhaps they made a mistake," Lee said as he ran his hands over Ryo's chest.
"I don't know. It's sorta hard to make a mistake about my beautiful features," Ryo said as Lee kissed his chest.
"You're being vain, love."
"I'm not being vain. I'm just saying that because of my bloodline, it's hard to make a mistake about who I am."
"Who you are, yeah but your father looked nothing like Shorel."
"True, but my father had an impressive wing span. The wingspan shouts out our heritage. It might be true."
"I don't see your father having an affair outside of his relationship with my father. It just doesn't sound like him. I mean why do you think my father killed himself? He was obviously the only man in the king's life."
"But why would they say something like that then? Let us not forget that they have a faint trace of our blood within them."
"I don't know. Let's pursue the matter more in the morning. Let's just enjoy the night together," Lee said as he closed his eyes.
