Picture this, if you will, a scene set under an old oak tree, just at the climax of sunset, in the middle of winter. A day, not too cold to stand being outside, and quiet... peaceful. One might even say enjoyable. Especially, when sharing it with someone special... your best friend, your love.Beneath the tree, wrapped in a dark blue cotton blanket, sat a girl, at the tender age of 16 leaning against a thin stone. A beautiful girl. Although not media beautiful. This girl wasn't stick thin, with perfect hips and breasts. Her hair didn't fall just right around her face and shoulders, and her face wasn't hidden in a mask of makeup. No, this girl, with her child-like face, big brown eyes and shy smile, was beautiful in ways that most people over look. This girl, despite her pale skin, glowed with a natural light. This light? Happiness. Real happiness. And her eyes, free of layers of makeup, held a loveliness that no shadow's or liner's could ever create. Her eye's held pure Hope, and Optimism aimed towards the future. The girl, despite her blanket's protection was shivering..Sitting next to the girl, wrapped in the blanket, was a boy only a year senior to the girl. His arms draped around her small frame gently, as if to help the blanket block out any cold that might try to get to the girl. This boy was also beautiful. And once again, it wasn't the beauty that was depicted in magazines and movies. His body wasn't very toned and muscular, although he was by no means out of shape. His hair wasn't cut in the most recent style, that was sure to make all the girls crazy. His eyes weren't smeared with eyeliner, or adorned in some 'cool' expensive sunglasses. What was beautiful about this boy, was his smile, and the pride that smile held. Pride, that was for the girl, for her being able to still smile, after what had happened. This boys eyes, were also beautiful, and filled with wisdom far beyond his years. This wisdom came from him knowing that the girl would be fine, no matter what life would throw at her.. as she'd already overcome the most difficult thing anyone could ever live through. But, despite all the wisdom the boy held within himself, he couldn't figure out, why she shivered..Slowly, despite her smile, a tear slid down the girl's round cheek. Her small hand appeared from the blanket, and she wiped it away, before it ran into a fresh scar that resided next to her mouth, still crimson from dried blood that hadn't flaked away. The sun had just disappeared below the horizon, and her parents would want her home soon. Slowly, she rose from her seated position, to her knee's and turned, her eyes scanning the stone that she'd just been rested against.Craved gracefully into the stone was the boys name, the date of his birth, and a date only 2 weeks earlier. Below this were the words "He was taken too young, but we know that he's waiting for us on the other side" Another tear escaped the girl's eye, but this one she didn't wipe away. She allowed it to fall, and drip from her chin, landing on the grass that had barely begin to grow again since the funeral. The boy, too stared at his own grave stone. She had done this everyday, since he'd been buried, and everyday it was the same. She'd sit, usually in silence, although sometimes she'd hum or talk to him, and watch the sunset. She'd only cried the first few times, and it made him happy to know she was getting better. He'd sit with her, although he knew she didn't know he was there. He would hold her, and wish so much, that he could tell her that everything would be ok.. that he was there. He watched as she slowly reached out, and touched the stone, as if making sure this wasn't just a horrible dream, and then she smiled, and began to stand. She was still shivering. He followed suit, moving a bit closer to her, gently taking her hand in his.. for a moment, he wondered if she felt it, as she glanced downward at her hand. Her eyes fell shut and she sighed, her breath coming out in puffs of steam.."I love you."Tears rose in the boys eyes, and he nodded."I love you too.." And then he leaned in a bit more, and placed his lips to her's. In the kiss, he continued with "..and I'll always be with you."As those words left him, suddenly, the girl stopped shivering, and she smiled again, shyly like she always did when he kissed her. Then she gathered her blanket, and slowly made her way past the other stones, and angel's that watched over her. The boy stood there watching her go, and just like his stone said, he would wait for the next day, when he'd be with his love again.
