Day 7 Honolulu, Hawaii
David suppresses a yawn as he stares out at the port of Honolulu.
He's very glad to see land again; the past several days at sea have
been torture. The first two days weren't so bad, but once they
really got into open water, it had become almost too much for David
to bear. He should have known that he would get extremely
seasick.
Tessa appears at his elbow, causing him to jump.
“Wow. It's beautiful,” she says.
“Yeah,” David agrees in all seriousness.
“I've never been to Honolulu,” Tessa says. “Only
to Maui a couple times for vacation. What about you?”
“Huh?” David blinks, realizing that Tessa is talking to
him.
“Have you ever been to Hawaii before?” Tessa asks
patiently.
“Uh…no,” David says.
“David, Tessa, it's time to go,” Tessa's mother calls.
“The tour will be starting soon.”
Ah yes. The tour. His parents have signed them up for a five hour
tour of Pearl Harbor and the city of Honolulu. At least most of it
will be in an air conditioned motor coach.
“Come on. Let's go,” Tessa says in his ear.
“All right,” David says.
He follows his fiancée to where both their parents wait. The
port of Honolulu is large enough for their ship to pull right up to
shore so all they have to do is walk down the gangway and they're
in Honolulu. The air is warm and humid, the sun blinding. Suddenly,
David wishes he had a pair of sunglasses. He turns and smacks
directly into someone.
“We must really stop meeting like this,” a voice
chuckles in his ear.
David raises his eyes and looks at Will grinning at him. He's
dressed in a black tank top that reveals his navel, a pair of very
short cutoff jeans, his usual assortment of earrings, and flip
flops. Perched on the top of his head is a pair of sunglasses and
David can smell coconut sunscreen on him. It's so powerful that
David wrinkles his nose.
“What? You don't like the way I smell?” Will pouts.
“N…no. It's j…just…your
sunscreen…it's kind of powerful. You used a lot,” David
stammers.
“Well I had to use a lot,” Will says. “I burn
easily.”
“Will! Let's go!” a dark-haired man David assumes is
Will father calls.
Will rolls his eyes. “Gotta go play nice with my
family.”
He jogs off to join his family a short distance away.
“Who was that boy?” Tessa stares after Will.
“No one,” David lies. “He's no one.” He
forces himself to smile at Tessa. “Come on. Let's not keep
the tour group waiting.”
He offers Tessa his arm. Tessa beams at him and loops her arm
through his. They board the motor coach together which is slowly
filling up. The seats are arranged in twos.
“Would you like to sit by the window?” David asks
gallantly.
“Oh, is that okay with you?” Tessa looks a little
uncertain. David nods. “Oh thank you David!”
But…” her face falls. “What about you?”
“Oh don't worry about me,” David says. “I don't
mind. Really.”
Seeing Tessa smile like she does now makes David smile in spite of
himself. Tessa isn't as bad as he thought. He can definitely stand
to marry her and treat her with the respect she deserves. And
maybe, just maybe, he can one day learn to love her.
David's father gives him a nod of approval as he and David's mother
pass with Tessa's parents. They sit away from David and Tessa,
probably to give them some privacy. How kind of them.
David turns back to Tessa and keeps her occupied for the twenty
minute drive from their ship to Pearl Harbor. Once there, they head
into the visitor's center. They watch a short film on Pearl Harbor
(like David hasn't watched enough of these films in school) and
then they take a small boat (another boat? Really?) to the USS
Arizona in the middle of the bay. David dutifully stays by Tessa's
side during the tour even when they go into the room where there's
a hole in the floor that looks down onto the sunken deck of the USS
Arizona. It's extremely creepy and pretty morbid but David forces
himself through it. At last, they move onto the last room that has
a wall with the names of all those lost on the USS Arizona during
the attack on Pearl Harbor inscribed on it. David stares blankly at
the names for a while, not really comprehending what he's looking
at.
“Are you okay?” Tessa asks quietly coming over to
him.
David swallows hard. “Y…yeah. I'm fine. It's
just…hearing about it and reading about it in a textbook is
one thing, but being here and actually seeing it is completely
different. It makes it feel more real, you know?”
“Yeah, I think I know what you mean,” Tessa says,
smiling sadly at him.
At long last, the tour is over and they take another boat back to
the mainland. Their motor coach is waiting for them when they
return. David is surprised when Tessa ushers him in first.
“I got to sit by the window on the way here, so it's your
turn,” she says.
“But the tour is two hours long,” David points out.
“The drive here was like twenty minutes. It doesn't seem
fair.” He thinks for a moment. “I know. We can switch
whenever we stop.”
Tessa beams at him. “What a great idea!”
David smiles at her and takes the seat next to the window. Tessa
slides into the seat next to his and loops her arm through his.
Instead of trying to make her let go, David just turns to look out
the window. He scarcely listens to the guide who starts talking as
soon as the motor coach's door close and never stops. He watches
the scenery pass, his mind on Will. He's isn't sure how exactly how
Will got into his head so suddenly, but now that he is, David can't
get him out. David swallows hard as his thoughts stray to a place
he'd really not be right now, especially not with Tessa sitting
right next to him. He tries closing his eyes, but he immediately
sees Will's face smirking at him. His breath hitches in his throat
as he remembers Will's mouth on his, Will's tongue probing his
mouth, the taste that is purely Will. He remembers Will's mouth
moving lower and, oh God, he made David feel so good. He never
dreamed that he would feel so good.
David jerks up when he feels a hand on his shoulder.
“We've arrived at the first place,” Tessa says
gently.
David sits up and looks around. They have stopped in what looks
like the middle of nowhere. Aside from the road, all that's around
them is a lush forest.
David rises and gasps when he realizes that he has an erection. He
really hopes no one notices.
“Are you okay?” Tessa asks as they get off the motor
coach. “You have a really weird look on your face.”
“Have to use the bathroom,” David mutters. He breaks
away from his fiancée and heads for their guide. “Excuse
me, is there a bathroom somewhere?”
“Right over there.” The guide points to a small shack a
short distance away.
“Thank you,” David says politely and makes a beeline
for it.
To his immense relief, it's a single toilet. He quickly closes the
door and locks it and leans against it, breathing heavily. It's
smelly and kind of disgusting, which makes it perfect. David pulls
his pants and boxers off and wraps his hand around his cock. He
lets out a shaky breath and closes his eyes. He covers his mouth
with his free hand to muffle his moans as his hand moves up and
down his shaft, stroking his cock. He pictures Will naked beneath
him, moaning and writhing as David takes him to orgasm.
With a gasp, David comes, squirting all over the wall. He lets go
of his cock and tries to clean up the best he can. Luckily, the
bathroom already smells like sweat, sex, body odor, and a bunch of
other things so no one will ever know what happened in here. David
makes sure he looks one hundred percent perfect in the cracked
mirror so no one suspects anything is amiss and then goes to rejoin
his family on the tour.
The rest of the tour passes in a blur. They're dropped back off at
their ship just in time for lunch.
“I've arranged for two taxis to take us to a restaurant for
lunch,” David's father says.
“Um...” David says. Everyone turns to him and he almost
wishes he didn't say anything. “I um…I'm not really
feeling well. Is it okay if I go lay down for a while?”
“What's wrong sweetie?” David's mother asks.
“I'm feeling a bit woozy,” David says and it's not a
complete lie.
“Perhaps you should go to the infirmary?” David's
mother says.
“No, that won't be necessary,” David says, smiling at
her. “I just need to lay down for a little while, drink some
water. I think I'm just a bit dehydrated.”
“Okay sweetie, if you're sure,” David's mother
says.
David's father looks like he's going to protest, but David's mother
takes his arm and whispers something in his ear.
“Very well,” David's father says. “We will see
you for dinner then, at 6.”
“All right,” David agrees.
He smiles reassuringly at Tessa who looks worried and then heads
back to the ship.
The first thing David does when he gets back to his stateroom is
shower. Even though he was very meticulous in cleaning up after
himself after finishing in the bathroom, he still feels extremely
dirty. It takes him nearly half an hour of standing underneath the
scalding spray before he starts feeling clean again. He switches
off the shower and dries off. He dresses in clean clothes and opens
the sliding door to his private verandah, allowing the warm air to
filter through. All he really wants to do is lay down and sleep,
but he knows that he can't. Instead, he goes back out to the main
sitting area and gets a bottle of water from the small fridge that
is stocked with free water and pop each day.
Half the bottle disappears in one sitting. Now he feels worse. He
probably shouldn't have drunk all that water at once. He lays down
on the couch to wait for the nausea to pass. He naps on and off for
an hour or two and groans when his phone starts ringing.
“Hello?” he says, running his hand through his
hair.
“Hey babe,” Will says. “What's up?”
“Oh not much,” David says. “Just taking a
nap.”
“Did I wake you up? Sorry.” Will doesn't sound sorry at
all.
“What do you want?” David asks.
“No need to be so hostile. Jeez,” Will says.
“Sorry,” David says.
“It's cool,” Will says. “I was calling to see
what you were up to.”
“Nothing really,” David says.
“Yeah, me either,” Will says. “Your
family?”
“Out to lunch with my fiancée and her parents,”
David says. “Yours?”
“Parental units are at lunch off the ship and Willow is
napping,” Will says.
“So you want to hook up, is that it?” David asks.
“I thought we could have lunch,” Will says. “If
we have sex afterwards, so be it.”
“But…” David protests. “If people see us
having lunch together, they'll talk, especially since my family
think I'm resting.”
“Not to worry,” Will says. “I've got a solution.
I'll be at your stateroom in like half an hour.”
“Do you even know where my stateroom is?” David
asks.
“Yep!” Will says. “See you in a bit.”
“Bye,” David says.
He's not really sure why he's doing this. The smart thing to do
would be to lie to Will and tell him that he's busy or something,
but for some reason, he can't bring himself to lie to Will. He's
not really sure why, but he feels like he can only be truthful with
Will.
True to his word, about half an hour later, Will appears at his
door with two large bags.
“I hope you like Thai food,” he says when David lets
him in.
“I've never had Thai food before,” David confesses.
“Really?” Will asks.
“Yeah,” David says.
“Well we'll just have to fix that,” Will says.
He sets the bags on the table and unpacks them. David has no idea
what any of it is, but it smells interesting, at least.
“What is all this anyway?” he asks, staring at the
spread.
“Let's see,” Will says. “I got a variety because
I wasn't sure what you liked. There are spring rolls, summer rolls,
deep fried tofu…” David makes a face. “It's
better than you think. There's also some popcorn chicken, be
careful, it's supposed to be really spicy, vegetable tempura, and
fried calamari, also known as squid. There are also plates and
utensils.”
David takes a little bit of everything and puts on a movie before
settling on the couch to watch it while he eats. Will joins him and
they eat in silence. When they're finished, David takes both their
plates to the garbage and returns to the couch. He's mildly
surprised when Will curls up against him, but finds that he doesn't
really mind. He wraps his arm around Will's waist and draws him in
closer. Will rests his head on David's chest. They remain that way
for the rest of the afternoon, until David has to get ready for
dinner.
