Better Off As Lovers....
The short tale of Frank and Gerard of My Chemical Romance
The tour van rolled over smooth and calm roads. The tires, which looked fresh and new, showed no sign of wear at all. The outside of the big bus was black, and the writing on the side said “My Chemical Romance”, of course written in the special design that Gerard drew. It had a white roof, in contrast to it’s to body, and had windows in the top, but were tightly shut today, being that it was just plain hot outside. The short tale of Frank and Gerard of My Chemical Romance
The men inside were right to keep the windows shut. Even with the wind it was dreadfully hot. Good thing they had air conditioners. Ah, the joys of being a famous band on tour.
The windows of the bus were tinted a shade of black that wasn’t too apparent from the inside, but from the outside, you could barely see. The inside of the bus was nicely refurnished. A nice carpeting in the living area, big bunks, and a nice sized kitchen. It was something that they could really work with. Though they weren’t too fond of the drapes that hung above the windows, but, they could fix that.
All five young men sat in the kitchen area, talking. Mostly just chatting about anything that came to mind; The weather, News, Music, television, Anything. But when the topic of the Used came up, one person decided to stop listening.
Frankie turned his attention towards the window, staring out blankly, not really knowing what he was looking at. He kind of drifted in and out of each conversation, but this one he felt he paid extra special attention to.
“Yeah, Bert is the greatest. He’s an amazing guy, and knows how to keep a guy interested. He’s a sweetheart, despite what everyone else says about him.” Gerard said, so completely taken over with the conversation. The rest of the band nodded, feeling glad that Gerard was happy.
But Frankie wasn’t interested. Oh, it’s not like he’s not happy for Gerard, he was ecstatic for Gerard’s new found happiness, but he couldn’t help but feel a bit saddened by it all. He felt as if he had just gone through a surgery without anesthetic, taken out all of his insides, and then put them all back inside. It hurt. A lot.
But Frank didn’t know why. I mean, he had never been attracted to Gerard, but Gerard was his best friend, and he didn’t share that same special bond that he felt with Gerard with anyone else, Gerard was the only one.
Could that be my reason? Maybe I’m just sad that I won’t be able to have that same relationship that we used to. Yeah, that’s gotta be it, right? Frank asked himself, just hoping that he wasn’t attracted to Gerard.
I mean, he never had anything against bisexuals or gays. In fact, he owned a shirt that said “Homophobia is Gay.” being that he was so against homophobes. But he didn’t think he could ever feel so strongly for his best friend. He swallowed, trying to see if anyone could tell that he was getting uncomfortable. But they all didn’t notice. Their focus was on Gerard.
“...He’s got the sweetest heart, and really is a nice guy. I think he’s really serious about a relationship...”“...Such a shame how his girlfriend died... Drug use, you know? Horrible, horrible stuff...”“...Such a sexy man, one of the hottest, and he’s got a cute ass too.” Gerard went on, about this and that, mostly about Bert. Finally, it all got to Frank, and he stood up, leaving to his bunk.
“God dammit, I’m getting a head ache.” He said before he left. They all stared at him.
“Well... What’s wrong with him?” Gerard asked. Ray, Mikey, and Bob all shared the same looks of confusion. They all looked at Gerard, hoping he knew how to figure this out.
Gerard looked at them, and when he felt their stares, he sighed, and got up. He strolled over to the bunk area.
“Frank?” He called, searching for his friend. He swore he could hear a soft crying coming from on of the bunks, but he wasn’t sure.
“Frank?” He asked, hearing the crying getting closer. Finally, he stood right in front of a bunk. A crudely drawn sign said “Frankie’s bunk. No creepy drummers or Afromen allowed”. Gerard smiled, seeing how funny it looked.
It looked like a little kid had written and drawn it, but Frank had intended on that look. He then listened closely, hearing the crying again. He knocked on the little paneling that surrounded the bunk.
“Frank? Frank, It’s me Gerard. What are you doing?” He asked him, hoping he was all right.
He opened the curtain of the bunk, and saw Frank leaning against his pillow, tears streaming down his face. But of course he wouldn’t let Gerard see them. So he kept his head facing the wall, and his back turned to Gerard.
“Frank, I came to see if you were okay. Are you?” Gerard inquired, hoping that he’d get a good answer from him. Frank just nodded slowly, not wanting to cause himself too much emotional stress.
But Gerard wasn’t buying it. “Frank, what’s wrong? C’mon. You can tell me anything.” Gerard said to him, bringing his lips close up to Frankie’s ears. “Don’t worry. I won’t bite.” He tried to be as play seductive as possible. Frank just couldn’t take it. He could feel himself getting excited, and was embarrassed. But of course, Gerard knew he was embarrassed, and wanted to exploit that in every way possible.
“Come on Frankie. I ain’t gonna hurt you. Maybe rough you up a bit, but not hurt you.” He said, slowly getting on the bunk, trying to act seductive just to play around with his best friend. Frank just felt himself blush, but kept himself still.
Gerard could tell his strategy was working, by trying to play it outta Frank. He smiled, and said, “Aww, Frankie. You’re so sweet and kind, with such a tight ass!” Gerard commented, squeezing his friend’s ass, knowing it’d make him talk. But still Frank kept himself in the same position.
Gerard pouted, not knowing what else was left to do. But, he smiled, knowing one more thing to do. He began to find an opening in Frank’s belt, and slid his hand through. He then touched frank’s balls, and Frank yelped slightly. Gerard smiled again. “Does Frank Likey?” he asked, digging his hands deeper in. That was it for Frank. He couldn’t take anymore of it. He pushed the man off of him, and said, “Stop teasing me like that, mother fucker.”
Gerard looked at Frank, puzzled. He then sat up, and sat next to Frank’s bunk. “Frank, what’s the matter with you? You always like when I joke around with you like that. What’s up man?” He asked, kind of pissed.
Frank shot a look of both pissed off and sadness at Gerard.
“Yeah, well it’s not a game to me anymore. It’s fucking serious now.” He told Gerard, and then quickly rolled back to his old spot.
Gerard looked at Frank. He tried to put two and two together, but it wouldn’t click with him. “Frank... I don’t understand... What do you mean? I thought you liked tom joke around.” Gerard asked, wanting to know the answer. Frank wouldn’t even look at him. He felt like he was gonna cry. He just kept his eyes fixated to the wall, and prayed that Gerard would just leave. But Gerard wouldn’t give up without a fight. He put his hands on his hips, and said,
“Frank Anthony Iero, tell me what’s wrong. Right now, or else I won’t talk to you for three weeks.” This got Frank’s attention. But still Frank kept the same gloomy and morose look, and turned to him.
“You wanna know why? I fucking love you.” This is when it began to click in Gerard’s head. He wanted to say something, but he just kept on listening.
“I love you Gerard. I want to be with you forever. I want you to love me. That’s why I left, that’s why I’m sad, and that’s why I wish I was dead.” Frank told him, and then went back to his spot, but this time leaving an incredibly shocked Gerard behind him.
Gerard was shocked at Frank’s openness to him, but he could deal with it. He just smiled at Frank, and said,
“That’s all? Why didn’t you tell me that before?” This comment made Frank sit up.
“Wait, what? You’re not upset, or afraid, or shocked?” Gerard shook his head.
“Nope. Frank. You’re my bestest friend. I love you to death, you know that. I wouldn’t care if you said you were a terrorist suicide bomber that planned on destroying the planet. I’d still feel the same way about you. And it’s the same way that I will always feel about you. Don’t forget that.” He told him, rubbing his head. A smile appeared on Frank’s face.
“Thanks Gerard. I feel the same way about you too. Except the whole part about the suicide bomber. That was kinda creepy.” Frank laughed, making Gerard smile. God how he loved that sound. He just loved to hear his friend laugh, especially Frank. Frank looked at Gerard, and finally got the guts to kiss him. He brought his lips over to Gerard’s cheek, and kissed him quickly, hoping that he accepted that. Gerard just smiled, and went to fully kiss Frank in a passionate way. Frank was surprised, but not as much as how happy he was.
When he broke the kiss, Gerard laid Frank’s head down on the pillow, kissing his forehead.
“I love you Gerard.” Frank said, with a smile. Gerard smiled too.
“I love you too Frank.” He then hugged his best friend, and when he was close enough to his ear, he whispered,
“ I was going to break up with Bert tomorrow anyway.”
