Looking Toward The Future
DISC: I do not own Land of the Blindfolded. I do not own Masahiro Namiki, Outsuka Kanade, or Naitou Arou - or even the little puppy. They all belong to Tsukuba Sakura. I am borrowing them for this fanfic. However, should Tsukuba-san have any complaints, I will be willing to remove this fic from the site upon request.
Arou ran into the garden where Kanade was waiting.
"Arou!" she cried, and smiled at him. Her smile never failed to bring a smile to his face.
"Yo!" Arou's attention was diverted enough to glance at the boy sitting next to Kanade, and to nod at him succinctly. "Bout time you showed up. I was thinking that you were never gonna show up."
"Why is he here?" he asked of Kanade, jerking his head toward the other male in the garden. Kanade just grinned at him in response - you couldn't stop Namiki once he made his mind up, and he was determined, it seemed, to be as constant a presence in Kanade's life as humanly possible.
Arou looked at her grinning, half-apologetic face and softened. "Sorry I'm late, Kanade, and sorry I can't stay."
She cocked her head at him, and he continued before she needed to ask, "I have to finish filing the paperwork for the Gardening Club to be reinstated, or else they're going to force me into another club instead. And lunch today is the only free time period I have left to file it." He bowed to her. "I'm sorry, Kanade."
"That's okay, Arou. I'll just go get some bread…"
He cut her off mid-sentence by holding up the bentos he always brought for lunch. "It's just some sushi today. Nothing too fancy." He handed her the package and said softly so Namiki wouldn't hear, "but if you'll have dinner with me tonight, I'll make it up to you."
She smiled and nodded, and his grin grew from ear to ear. She kissed him on the cheek and handed him one of the three boxes. "Don't forget to take one for you!" she said. You'll get hungry later, I'm sure!" He grinned at her and touched his cheek gently, then waved bye to them both and ran off back towards the administration building.
She watched him leave and sighed.
`Alright! A chance alone with Kanade!' "So! What's for lunch, Kanade-chan?"
"Sushi!" Kanade laid out the meal in front of them, and they quickly tore into the food. "Oh, my God! This is the BEST spicy tuna roll I've ever tasted!"
"Yeah," Namiki agreed in between bites. "If only he was as beautiful as you, I'd make him my wife for SURE!"
Kanade laughed and blushed.
"Aw. Kanade. You're so cute when you blush!" She looked down, focusing on her food, and ate in silence for a while.
`She likes Arou. She told me. But… I've never met anyone like her before.' He watched as she picked up a piece of sushi with her chopsticks, daintily dipped it into the soy sauce, then lifted it to her sweet, ruby lips. As he watched her, he felt his heart tighten. `She's the only person I ever met who makes me believe that there is good in the world. And Arou believes it too. They're probably meant to be.'
He sighed and bit into another piece of sushi.
`But I'm not going to give up. Maybe… just maybe, I can become better.' He silently laughed at his own thoughts. `I've never been so uncertain before. I mean, what the hell! I can see the future.
`Hey… I can see the future. Maybe if I look, I'll see if I have a chance.' He looked up to see she had a piece of rice stuck just to the side of her mouth. He smiled And concentrated. Then…
"Kanade, you've got a piece of rice…" he reached out with one hand rested his palm on her cheek and used his thumb to swipe at the piece of rice. And concentrated.
*Is there any hope for me?*
**He saw Kanade in a beautiful dress. She was crying. He saw himself reach out to her, and she smiled up at him - that beautiful smile that melted his heart - as the tears continued to roll down her cheeks. He saw himself draw her into an embrace. He saw her arms wrap around him tightly.**
`There's a chance!' he thought. And before he could stop himself, he leaned into her, using the hand on her cheek to pull her in as he moved forward. His lips captured hers, and he wrapped his arms around her.
`He's kissing me!' She thought wildly. `Oh no! My first kiss! Arou!' She opened her mouth to ask him what he was doing, and his tongue slipped in, deepening the kiss. She felt lightheaded, and fell into a trance.
**She saw Nakimi and Arou confronting each other. "I kissed her, Arou. I kissed her first." Arou looked at him skeptically - like he was fairly certain that fair-haired boy was lying. "What? You don't believe me? Then check it out. See if I'm lying." He held his hand out in front of him for Arou to touch. Arou grimaced and slapped the boy's hand out of the way. But it was enough contact. She saw his face recoil as if it'd been his face, and not the other boy's hand that had been slapped.
"Why did you do that to her?" he growled at him, grabbing the boy by his shirt front.
"Because I've never met anyone like her before. She actually believes the best of me. And I don't want to lose her to you." She saw Arou's face soften as he saw more of the boy's past, and he let the boy loose.
"I'm sorry, Nakimi. I understand, but… I'm not going to lose her to you, either. I LOVE her."**
`He loves me?!' The shock of seeing that brought her to her senses and she put her hands up to push Nakimi off. He hadn't noticed that she'd had a vision.
"Nakimi! Please!" She gave one more shove and he fell off her and landed hard on his butt.
"Oof!"
"Oh! Sorry! But. Nakimi, I already told you…" She looked down at her hands in her lap. She looked so sad.
Nakimi saw the sad look on her face, and grimaced. He'd made her look sad. "You like Arou. I know." He looked down at his own lap. Then back up at her sad face.
"I'm sorry, Kanade. I shouldn't have kissed you like that. But!" He used one finger to lift up her chin and guide her face so that she'd be looking at him. "You're very kissable," he smiled at her and gave her a wink.
She blushed and looked away.
"Besides, I told you I wasn't going to give up. And I'm not going to. Still! I shouldn't have kissed you without your consent. I'm sorry." His voice conveyed the remorse he felt, and she looked up at him in surprise. She saw his sad face and had to do something.
She reached out and grabbed his hand and held it. He looked up at her in surprise. She smiled at him and said, "I'll forgive you if you promise never to do it again."
He broke into his most charming grin and replied, "I promise that I won't kiss you again unless you ask me to." And then he winked. "Now I just have to figure out a way to get you to ask me to… After all, you are kissable!"
"Nakimi!" she scolded him and blushed. As they sat down and resumed eating their lunch, he thought, `That's another thing I love about her: she doesn't hold a grudge.'

At the end of the day, Arou and Kanade walked out the front of the school together.
"So I'll pick you up at 6, if that's okay." He held her hand and bent to kiss it. As expected, she blushed cutely. She nodded and as he stood up and released her hand, she waved goodbye and started running toward home.
Arou watched her run and smiled. `God, I love her,' he thought. He thought about the evening ahead, and started running through the steps he needed to take to make this date run perfectly. It had to go perfectly. Tonight, he was going to kiss her. His first kiss.
He was broken from his reverie by a hand grasping his shoulder. He turned around to see Nakimi standing in front of him with his arms crossed.
"I kissed her, Arou. I kissed her first."
`What is he talking abou- Kanade! No. I don't believe it.' Arou raised one eyebrow, smirking at him.
"What? You don't believe me? Then check it out. See if I'm lying." Nakimi held his hand out in front of him for Arou to touch.
Arou grimaced and slapped the boy's hand out of the way. But it was enough contact.
**He saw Nakimi's hand reach up to her face, and then pull her in. He saw her eyes widen in shock. He saw Nakimi kiss her, and when she struggled, he pulled her in more firmly. Then he saw her get faint like she always does when she has a vision. He saw her come to and push Nakimi off so hard that he fell.**
`God, she had a vision and he didn't even help her!'
"Why did you do that to her?" he growled at him, grabbing the boy by his shirt front.
"Because I've never met anyone like her before. She actually believes the best of me. And I don't want to lose her to you."
Arou's fist tightened in Nakimi's shirt, giving him more contact.
**He saw a series of flashes. Nakimi's dad telling him he'd never amount to anything. His mom telling him to that she never wanted to see him again, with a terrified look on her face as she kicked him out of the house. Teachers who only saw the bad, friends betraying him. A man in a suit using him for personal gain with no concern for Nakimi's well-being.**
He loosened his grasp and took a step back.
"I'm sorry, Nakimi. I understand, but… I'm not going to lose her to you, either. I LOVE her."
"I love her, too," Nakimi replied.
Arou smiled at him sadly, thinking, `I don't know if that's true. But I do know it's probably the closest to love you've ever felt.'
"Well. Since neither one of us is gonna give up - it's all up to her. Shake on it?" Nakimi held out his hand again for Arou to take.
With a sigh, Arou clasped his hand in Nakimi's. And Nakimi concentrated.
As their hands separated, Arou saw Nakimi's eyes go wide. He backed away from Arou, then ran home as fast as his feet could take him. "I won't give up!" he yelled over his shoulder, as tears of frustration leaked from his eyes as he ran.

At his apartment, he opened the door only to be greeted by a cute little bundle of fur, who was yipping excitedly to see him. His little tail was wagging so hard, it kept knocking him over.
One look at the puppy just reminded him of Kanade, and he smiled.
"YOU're happy to see me!" he grabbed the leash in one hand and picked up the puppy with the other. He closed the door behind him and took the puppy for a walk to relieve himself. A quick walk around the block, and things were all settled, so he headed back home.
"I'm really glad you were so easily housebroken, Koinu. `Cuz I'm not really sure I'd be able to keep you if you made a mess every day in my apartment." He locked the door to his apartment, and removed the leash from the puppy's collar.
The puppy looked up at him worriedly, and Nakimi found himself laughing.
"Yeah. Like I could give you up now. That'd be like me giving up on HER!"
He sighed. The puppy pushed his nuzzle under the boy's hand, Giving comfort. Nakimi laughed sadly.
"Even now, I can't give up on her. Even after I saw…"
He picked up the puppy and put it on his lap.
"You're here because of her, you know. So do you want to know what I saw?
"She gave herself to Arou. I saw it. It's happening tonight. And even though she showed me that I can change the future… She was so happy. I just… can't.
"It's burned into my head now, and instead of making me feel like I want her less, I want her more now.
"He finished with the dinner he'd prepared, and then he pulled her up to dance to the music that was playing. While they were waltzing, he leaned in, and when she looked up, he kissed her.
"His kiss was soft and gentle - like I should have been with her - and shemelted into him. I saw her snake her tongue into his mouth. SHE snuck HER tongue, not the other way around, and he moaned.
"As they broke for air, he breathed, `I love you, Kanade.' And she…"
He hugged the dog to his chest.
"She said, `I love you, too, Arou.' And then she kissed him again. He… wrapped his arms around her and lifted her up as they kissed."
He ruffled the fur on the puppy's head.
"I can't really blame him for being elated. I would be too if she kissed me like that. And wrapped her legs around my waist…"
He sighed.
"God, I don't deserve her. How can I think that I could? Her little hands undoing his tie, working furiously to unbutton his shirt, her palms sliding over his chest."
One of his hands moved to his own chest, and he set the puppy down. Then he stood up and started stripping off his own clothes. No dinner tonight. He just wasn't hungry for food. Straight to bed.
`And then, he lifted her shirt off, over her head. She was wearing a purple bra. With her pale skin against the violet… And Arou
kissed down her neck to her chest. By then, he was sitting on the couch with her on his lap, straddling him.'
He imagined he was in Arou's place. His hand lowered to his groin and he moaned.
`His hands wrapped behind her back, and he unclasped her bra. God, her perfect breasts!'
He felt himself throb as he remembered her milky white orbs, and the way Arou had taken one into his mouth, moaning, "Kanade."
`She rode above him, rubbing up and down. Her hair bouncing. His hands on her breasts.' His hand began a slow rhythm on his own hardened length.
`The sound of her sighs and moans.' He groaned. `That would have made me go crazy. And then, when she pulled back and pulled off his lap. God, I don't know if I could have apologized to her like he did then.
`But she just smiled and undid her skirt, and pulled it and her underwear off in one motion.'
His hand started to move faster as he remembered her - standing glorious and naked in front of his rival. `She stood shyly in front of him, completely naked, and asked him where his bedroom was. I don't know how he had the strength to walk behind her to the bedroom.'
His moans got louder.
`And when they were there, she unbuckled HIS belt, then unbuttoned and unzipped his pants, and said, "I love you. I want my first time to be with you. I don't want anything to come between us." And then they were on the bed.'
The bed started to shake from his movements.
`I'm glad Arou kissed away her tears. I mean, I know it's supposed to hurt her, but if he hadn't been so gentle, I'd have had to kick his ass. And then, she started writhing under him. And calling out his name as she...'
"Oh, Kanade!" He screamed as he exploded in his own hand. Then he grimaced and went to the bathroom to clean up.
As he came back, he saw the puppy, sitting on the ground by the bed, whining, and he laughed. He scooped the puppy up, and curled up on the bed with the puppy in his arms.
"Don't you worry, Koinu. I'm still not giving up. It doesn't matter that she loves him. People screw up all the time. And when HE does, I'll be there for her."
He patted the dog's head and started to fall asleep.
"Just you wait."
