Chapter 1
Maldora Vivian

A crisp bright morning in the spring is set here, birds chirping and kids walking to school a typical morning. Yes, all was typical except one thing; at Vivian's household it was hectic and surprising at the same time. Vivian's was giving birth to her and my daughter in the early morning, the pack was rushing around trying to get things and also get seats to see the live birth.

Vivian lied there on her bed in agony and dread, her water broke at 4:45AM and it was now 6:30AM a few hours into labor. The pain was unbearable to her; she screamed and cried for me to be at her side.

“Get her comfortable!” commanded Willem wiping Vivian's face with a cool moist cloth. Persia came in with a basin of lukewarm water to clean the baby in along with a few towels and blankets. I stood at her side, `Push. . .” he whispered warmly in her ear.

Even with the push she was in agony, the baby they couldn't get out, “Oh dear!” cried Persia, “Vivian's heart rate is slowly, she's too weak to birth the baby!” Everyone was scared now, even me. Vivian was slowly dying because of this it was either her life or our child's.

Vivian looked at me with her green eyes, “Gabriel. . .” she panted, “I want the baby to live. . . if I don't make it. . . take care of her . . . name her the beautiful name we thought of together.” I looked back into her eyes with mine and nodded at her request, holding her hand tightly. She gave a huge lively push with a helpful squeeze of my grip our child slid out of her into a towel held by Persia.

I felt my mate's grip loosen on mine; she smiled up at me one last time before closing her beautiful eyes forever. Vivian was dead, and I held in my cries while everyone else lowered their heads in mourning.

When I heard my daughter cry for the first time that sorrow in my heart sank and transformed into a warm feeling I've never experienced before; I walked over to Persia who was holding her. “May I see her?” I asked and Persia nodded with a half smile.

I scooped up the tiny treasure into my arms and held her close in them, I loved her, and I loved her with all my heart. I've sworn on that day that I'll protect her and raise her with stories of her mother, who gave her own life for our child.

I hummed a soft song that my mother sang to me when I was young while rocking her gently in my strong arms. “Maldora Vivian,” I whispered to her, I then turned to everyone and announced her name, “I present to you,” I cried out, “Maldora Vivian!”

All of the pack lightened up their sorrow and cheered after I announced her name to them. I walked over to where Vivian was lying with Maldora in my arms, “She's beautiful. . .” I whispered into her ear, “and she's only…a few minutes old.” I kissed Vivian's cold cheek and watched The Five cover up the dead body of the mother of my child.

I took Maldora upstairs after bowing my head to Esme, Vivian's mother. When I entered my room, I sat on my bed, my newborn daughter in my arms crying weakly for attention of a parent, I rocked her gently and hummed the song again. Silently, deep inside me was crying for Vivian and also happy at the same time because of my daughter.

“I have a new girl in my life now,” I said quietly to myself, “and I will raise her the best I can.” I nuzzled the tiny being in my arms, letting her suck on my finger, continuously rocking her.
