Chapter 1
The peaceful orphanage
New training grounds
Thirteen years after that day Katin’s back healed leaving a gigantic scar in form of dragon wings, Katin has become a young man capable of doing phenomenal things. Like using magic to help the crops prosper each year or destroy boulders that got in the way of the river, or the trenches that watered the fields. Katin was fairly built but could huge amounts of weight at a time which astonished everyone that seen him work. Katin would always disappear after dinner, some say he was star gazing, but none really knew but the head mistress Lena who mostly care for Katin when he was first brought here by her husband that went off to war with some of the older boys. She worried about him everyday, and hoping for his returned. In her husbands absents Katin did everything he could to protect and bring prosperity to the orphanage while he grew up. That all changed when her husband come home to train new soldiers for the raging war. On that day Ryan a white knight and amoral of his majesty army, came riding on a black mustang with soldiers marching in perfect form. While all the children watched in amazement, as they stood at attention. “Katin is that you? You’ve grown since I’ve last seen you.” Said Ryan checking out the eighteen year old who greeted him with a hearty hand shake and smile when Lena and some of the teenage women came out with wet laundry. Lena gasped seeing Ryan home again, she dropped the basket then ran and tackled him in the grass, kissing him all over his face leaving red lipstick marks. Katin turning to the new recruits, “as Ryan has properly already told you, you are not allowed to have weapons on your person while you’re here. And the dragon forest is strictly forbidden do you understand.” Said Katin in a stern voice, and anther thing if anyone of step in the girls dorm or bath wing you will be punished severely, is that understood. “Why should we listen to you kid said one of the soldiers.” Good point, why should you listen to me. Well let show you why. Walks over to the biggest heaviest boulder he found in the fields earlier that morning. See this boulder? How much do you think it weights? Five-hundred six-hundred pounds you think? So what’s your point? Said another soldier. This is my point said Katin grasping the bolder tossing it in the air and shout flaregos. The bolder explodes in pieces. All the soldiers turned wide eyed, one of the soldiers fainted at such power of a teenager. How did you do that kid? That’s my secret, but do you understand? All the soldiers just nodded in response of him. Now since I broke the bolder for you, you recruits can pick it up as your first day of training. While I save your commander from his wife. Laughing as he picked up Lena and sits her down gently and holds out his hand out to Ryan. You should write more ya know, she worry’s about you. So what the outside world like? Ask Katin in a soft tone, well it’s big that’s all I know and there’s so much to see and do I was never bored. Anyway how’s you been since I’ve been gone? Well I found a weird egg that hatched a red dragon. What! Where did you find that egg at Katin!? In the dragon forest? Does anyone else know about the dragon?
Yuuka does but she hasn’t told anyone about Flangra at least not yet anyway. Why do you say that Katin? Said Ryan in curious tone. Huh? Because she the biggest pain in the butt I’ve got, she always wants me to do stuff for her chores mostly. And what do you tell her. She soars down and enters Katin’s mind as she walks closer to him. Hello little one. Said Flangra in a cheerful tone, hi Flangra what have you been up to? Said Katin also in a cheerful tone watching you. Oh? Why were you watching me Flangra? So that you stay out of trouble. Huh? What’s that suppose to mean?! Exactly what I mean, you attract trouble and you know it Katin. So. So you need to learn restraint and to do that you need to go to the island hidden in the storms. Where is the island hidden in the storms Flangra? I don’t know little one. You know about the island, but don’t know where it’s at? That’s just a little creepy if you ask me. But I didn’t ask you if it was creepy did I little one. No it just is that’s all I didn’t mean any insult to Flangra. Oh yeah almost forgot you need to stay out of the orphanage until the new recruited soldiers training is completed and they move out of here and on to the battle field. And if I had a say in that they’d be back home to see their families before they go into battle and lose their lives for what so stupid war that probably could have been avoided anyway. Katin why is there men training here? Because the stupid king said there’s no more space for them at the castle so he put them here. Where luckily Ryan sent me a letter before hand. Because of him I had time to prepare for his arrival and it wasn’t easy to do either. Complaining won’t solve anything and you know it Katin.
