"Don't worry about it," he told her as he closed his eyes. "I just wish they had warned me first so that I could have been prepared."

"If they had warned you, then I wouldn't have taken it seriously."

"Still, there had to be a better way than to have my internal organs become external," he told her. Rolling over he wrapped an arm around her. "Though I do have to admit, Sophitia is a strong opponent. Training with her will help me tremendously."

"She's very wise as well. I've learned a lot just by talking to her. Hopefully...Keith won't ask me to blow his brains out again."

"Well, one can always hope," he smirked.

"That's pretty much all I'm running on these days. Hope."

"Seeing as how you haven't forsaken humanity yet, perhaps it might be a good idea to get in touch with your family. They're probably worried about you."

"No," Mia said. "What am I suppose to tell them? I'm dropping out of school to fight in a war with super human beings so a new God can rule the world, oh, and there is a really good chance I might die though I'm immortal."

Neron shrugged. "The truth would probably be easier to accept than if they thought you were dead."

Mia sat up. "You want me to tell them the truth? Fine. But they are going to send me to a therapist." She grabbed the cell phone Keith gave her earlier that day and dial her parents number. Her little brother picked up. After talking to him about his school, he finally gave the phone to her mother who put her on speak so her father could hear her too. Mia glanced at Neron. Taking a deep breath, she told them she was dropping out of school and why. She talked nonstop while her parents sat and listened until she finished. "Well?" Mia asked after no one said anything.

"Are you doing drugs, Amelia?" her father asked. "Because if you are you are in more trouble than you can possibly think of."

"She's not on drugs, Frank," her mother said. "Are you?"

"No! I'm telling the truth!"

"Mia, if you wanted to take some time off from school, all you had to do was say so. You don't have to come up with stories," her mother said sweetly.

"I'm not coming up with stories! It's the truth!"

"We aren't sending you anymore money. You get your ass back home right now!" her father demanded.

"I'm not coming home. I'm nineteen. I have my own life now. I'm staying with a friend and I think I should tell you goodbye," Mia said slowly.

"Mia...don't say that. Come home. We can talk about this," her mother begged.

"I'm sorry. I love you guys. Take care."

"Amelia! You get your ass-" her father started but Mia hung up.

She looked at Neron. "I hope I've made your day," she said coldly.

"When I said tell the truth, I meant when I was there so that I could verify your claims," he told her softly. "I did not mean for you to distance yourself from your family and bring you both pain."

"There is no way I would ever take you near my parents," Mia said bluntly. "I can't risk an attack being around there and someone I love getting hurt. It's bad enough that you and Keith are in this, but I won't drag them in too."

"What if Sophitia went with us? Her special ability allows us to be concealed from the others. That would allow a relatively safe meeting."

Mia thought about it a minute. "I'd have to tell Keith to be on his best behavior. And if you do get attacked, you have to take the fight as far away as possible, ok?"

He smiled and nodded. "Don't worry. Even if someone were to attack, between Sophitia and I it wouldn't be much of a contest. At least I certainly hope not." He reached up to caress her face. "But if I do get attacked, I will lead them away from your family."

Mia leaned over and kissed him. "Then it's settled. We will go when you are better."

Three days later, they sat in Mia's parent's living room. Her father was glaring at everyone and her mother kept offering cookies and cake. Her brother was sitting in Mia's lap. Neron looked uncomfortable and Keith looked bored. Sophitia just sat there.

"Joshua, will you go to your room. I need to talk to mom and dad for a bit," Mia said sweetly to him.

Her little brother smiled and she kissed his cheek. He rushed off upstairs. Her mother rubbed her belly as if trying to calm the growing baby in it. "Well...Mia, I-"

Before Mia's mother could finish, Mia grabbed the knife for the cake and stabbed her hand.

"Oh my God! Mia!" her mother screamed. "Frank, call the doctor!"

"Amelia! What the hell!?" her father yelled rushing to her.

"Wait!" Mia yelled and winced as she pulled the knife out. "Watch." She moved her hand to Neron who quickly took the wound from her and put it on himself. Her parents sat down in awe and confusion. "I wasn't lying. I wouldn't lie about this," Mia said and started wrapping Neron's hand with a towel.

Keith rolled his eyes as she did this. There were easier ways to prove her point than to stab herself, but oh well. He was actually checking out her mom. Not too shabby for an older lady. He would hit it.

Neron winced as she wrapped his hand. "Next time warn me," he told her in a whisper. Looking back at her parents he gave them a small smile. "I can imagine that there are many questions which you have for your daughter. Please know, that your daughter is very special for being able to awaken one of the immortals. She was especially chosen by the gods to do so."

"Actually," Mia said. "I'm a punishment for him," she said looking at her parents.

They just kept staring at her and Neron. For a long time, they were completely quiet. Mia actually thought they might be having heart attacks, but after about twenty uncomfortable minutes, her mother stood.

"I'll get the first aid kit," she said.

Her father pushed his hair back and sat back in his chair. "Tell me more."

Mia looked at Neron. As her mother came in with the first aid kit, she explained everything she knew and the importance of winning. She didn't leave Neron's past out and by the time she had finished, it was night. Her parents listened and asked questions and often times they wanted to check Neron's wound to see if it healed yet since they now knew he healed fast.

"It's late...we should go," Mia said.

"No! Stay! We have the room!" her mother object. "Please!"

"Now, Tina, you know how much of a risk it is for her to be here. It's better if they go," her father said slowly. "But, you call, often and I'll expect you and your friends for the holidays no matter what."

Mia smiled. "I'm sure we can work that out."

It was obvious her parents were uncomfortable with it all, but they were accepting just as Neron had said they would be.

"It was an honor to meet you," Neron said with a nod as they stood at the doorway. As they were about to leave both he and Sophitia tensed. Neron turned, his twin blades sliding out from the flesh in his arms as he slashed into the darkness of the night. There was a plopping sound as two ravens landed at his feet, their heads severed from their bodies.

A second later the ravens turned into a dark mist. "Loki?" Neron whispered.

"Either that or Zeus." Keith lit up a cigarette and stared into the night sky. "Ravens are his familiars. Perhaps he's keeping a watch on you. After all, you guys do have a rivalry of sorts going on."

Mia pushed them all to the car. "Move it! We need to get out of here in case someone wants to do something stupid."

"Hey!" Keith cursed as his cigarette fell to the ground. He muttered quite a few phrases beneath his breath as they got into his car. "So, what does your mom think about older men?"

Mia pinched him. "She's pregnant and off limits to you!"

"Why? Pregnant women can be sexy too!"

Neron leaned back and shook his head. Keith was hopeless. He was thoroughly impressed that he had survived this long.

"One more word about it and I swear not eve Sophitia will be able to stop me from ripping your dick off, Keith!" Mia screamed as they started on the road.

"I'm just saying. I would do her. That's all. You should take it as a compliment." He turned up the music to drown out the sounds of Mia's yelling.

Mia's hand fisted. Before Sophitia could stop her, Mia's fist came down on Keith's balls. "Try doing anything for a while."

Keith yelled and the car veered off the road into a ditch. He grasped his lower half while whimpering in pain. "What the hell was that for?" He said in tears, not even caring about the fact that he'd nearly killed them all by driving the car off the road.

Mia crawled over him and pushed him into the passenger seat. "Serves you right, you dick," she spat and drove out of the ditch and back on the road.

"I think you broke something," he said while he leaned his head against the window and moaned. "Sophitia, do the wound thingy."

"I don't have a dick, master," Sophitia smirked.

Mia busted out in laughed.

Keith whimpered. "Then grow one! Cause this hurts!"

Mia glared at him. "Suck it up, Keith."

"How about you just suck it?" He smirked.

"That's enough you two," Neron said from the back seat. They were acting like children.

"You would like that wouldn't you, Keith? Too bad, you're not my master. And I don't do what you say," Mia said.

Keith groaned and rolled his eyes. "Fine, it looks like it'll just be me and Sophitia tonight then."

"Joy," Sophitia said rolling her eyes.

Mia glanced at him. "You need a hobby. One that doesn't involve sex or foreplay."

"Why? I enjoy sex. I'm good at sex. I enjoy foreplay. I'm good at foreplay. Why not stick with what I know?"

"I'm sure you are not as good as you think you are."

"I've never heard any complaints in the last thirty years," he told her.

"No woman is going to tell a rich guy he is bad in bed," Mia said bluntly.

"Well I haven't heard any complaints from the guys either," he smirked.

"Gay guys will go to anyone for sex, Keith. Duh."

"Will not! I only score the rich classy gay guys, thank you very much; and on occasion they're even straight and I turn them gay."

"You are so full of yourself. You think you are so great and yet you can't even screw your best friend of six years. Pathetic," Mia said rolling her eyes.
