Summary: Zane is a 17-year-old student at Duel Academy and he is not going to have any changes. Chazz Princeton is a selfish 16-year-old student at Duel Academy and he doesn't want a girlfriend. That is until the school got 3 new students, but these are no ordinary students. They are equally strong duelists. Boys everywhere had a crush on at least one of them. What will happen this year? And what dark secrets do they have that can cause world destruction?

Chapter 1

Obelisk Blue dorm rooms, Zane's room…

 

Zane was about to get up as his usual routine. He had been at Duel Academy for 3 years and this 17-year-old was not going to have any changes. “Zane, please open up. One of the new students is here.” Doctor Crowler's voice came ringing from the other side of the door. There had been a rumor that three really impressive duelists had been accepted.

 

“Coming Doctor Crowler.” He replied as he put on his shirt an open the door. He got a big shock. Next to Doctor Crowler was a girl about 17 years old with green eyes and blond hair. She was wearing an Obelisk Blue girl's uniform and a red necklace with a red sphere that looks like a t and h mixed together (like Sailor Saturn's sign on her forehead). She was also carrying two suitcases and a duel disk. “Who is this and where is the new student?” he asked.

 

“This is the new student. I hope you're not going to be like your brother (he knows about when Syrus went to the girls' dorm rooms), but this is going to be her dorm room.” Doctor Crowler said.

 

“But this is the boys dorm room.” He protested.

 

“I'm sorry, but all of the girls' dorm rooms are full and this is the only one available. Besides, one of them has to also room with a boy so you aren't alone on this. So you better get ready. You have only a half hour to finish up. So long.” Doctor Crowler replied leaving Zane and the new girl alone.

 

“Well, since you're my new roommate, I might as well get to know you. My name's Catreece.” She said holding out her hand.

 

“Zane and let me help you get your things out. It would be rude not to.” Zane replied shaking her hand.

 

“Thank you. Let me put this one under the bed. I have for emergencies so I hope you don't touch this one. Let me just put my things in.” Catreece said as she put the suitcase under the bed and took out a toothbrush and toothpaste and put them in the bathroom. After that was done, she opened her suitcase and put her clothes in the drawers and a picture on the nightstand. In the picture was a group of girls one of which was Catreece. Five minutes later after helping Catreece put her now-empty suitcase away, the picture showed Catreece with a boy around her age.

 

“What happened to the picture? Before it had you and a group of girls in it.” Zane asked.

 

“This is a special picture frame that is like a scrapbook, but changes every 5 minutes.” Catreece explained now holding some books. “I'm not sure if you mind if I walk down with you. I'm pretty sure I'll get lost.” Catreece asked.

 

“I don't mind. If you don't mind, I could help you around the school.” Zane replied.

 

“Thank you. Is that you're little brother there?” Catreece asked looking at the picture of Zane and Syrus as kids.

 

“Yeah, that's my brother, Syrus. Let's go or we'll be late.” Zane answered.

 

“OK.” Catreece said as they walked out to the school.

 

Schoolyard…

 

“Hey Zane. Who's the hottie that's with you?” asked one of Zane's friends.

 

“This is my new roommate, Catreece. This one of the girl from the rumors.” Zane said. Just then, two girls came around the corner. One had long brown hair and dark skin in a green girls' uniform. The other had short black hair with purple highlights and purple eyes in a purple girl's uniform.

 

“Catreece!” they said as they ran up to her.

 

“Hey. Zane, these are the other two students. This is Layla and the other is Hotaru.” Catreece said introducing them.

 

“Hi.” Zane as he shook their hands. “So whom are you two rooming with? Doctor Crowler told me that one of you was also rooming with a boy.” Zane asked.

 

“I'm rooming with a boy named Bastion. Hotaru's with no one.” Layla said.

 

“Layla, what happened to your uniforms? I thought yours were yellow and Hotaru's were red.” Catreece asked.

 

“Well, they had to dye our uniforms from other Obelisk Blue girl uniforms. And the funny thing was when they dyed it with yellow and red, it became purple and green.” Layla explained.

 

“Well, we better go. Class starts in two minutes. See ya.” Hotaru said as the three of them left.

 

“Man you are lucky. Having a cutie as a roommate and really hot friends, you get the good stuff.” Said Zane's friend.

 

“We better go now. We have to get to class in a minute.” Replied Zane as he ran off to class, which was the same as Catreece.

 

Inside the classroom of the last class…

 

“Well, this a surprise. I hear that you got a girl as your new roommate. So where is she?” said an Obelisk Blue girl that has a major crush on Zane called Mitzi.

 

“That is none of your concern, Mitzi. And I'm still not going to forgive you for sneaking into my room and taking a picture of me changing into my uniform.” Zane said walking away to Catreece, seeing her right near his seat with the other two next to her. “What are you doing here?” he asked.

 

“This is my seat. I guess it's right next to yours.” Catreece replied sitting down next to Zane.

 

“Excuse me, but you're in my seat.” Mitzi said as she walked over to Catreece.

 

“Don't listen to her. She's just obsessed with me. If you say this is your seat, I believe you.” Zane said.

 

“Mitzi? Is that you?” Layla said looking at her.

 

“Oh I know you. You must be talking about the one in Gardenia. She told me about you. You're one of Bloom's little friends from reform school and totally messed up her Halloween party.” Mitzi said insulting Layla.

 

“And no thanks. I'm not going to move because someone says so and insults my friend.” Catreece said.

 

“Get out of my seat now or I'll hurt you bad.” Mitzi said looking really pissed off with her I'm-so-going-to-kick-your-ass-if-you-are-near-Zane face.

 

“And if I say `no'?” Catreece said.

 

“You asked for it.” Mitzi yelled as she swung a punch near Catreece's face, but Catreece barely moves to the left and doges it.

 

“If you don't mind, I would like to begin class now. And Mitzi, get to your seat.” Professor Banner said as Mitzi stormed off to her seat next to Chazz.

 

“Wow, you dodged Mitzi's punch without flinching. No one has ever been able to even stand up to her.” Zane said.

 

“Well, at my old schools, I had to get used to people trying to push me around. I guess this another girl on my list of people to avoid as much as I can.” Catreece replied.

 

“You should see the list. It has over a hundred people on it. Most are boys and only four are girls.” Layla said.

 

“And two-thirds of the boys are stalkers.” Catreece said.

 

“Today, we are going to be starting a project that is half of your entire grade. I will pair you in pairs of two and you will have to duel together and do homework together. This will go on for two months. Any questions?” Professor Banner said as Mitzi raised her hand. “Yes Mitzi?”

 

“Do we get to chose our partners?” Mitzi asked hoping yes so she can be with the boy she liked.

 

“No. After what happened last time, I will choose. Jaden, your partner is… Alexis.” Professor Banner said as Alexis blushed and Jaden woke up when he heard his name.

 

“What did you say?” Jaden asked.

 

“You're put into pairs of two and you will have to duel together and do homework together and this will go on for two months. Syrus, your partner is… Hotaru. Bastion, your partner is… Layla. Mitzi, your partner is…” Professor Banner said as Mitzi looked hopeful to get him as her partner, “Dimetri.” Mitzi looked like she was going to jump with joy. “Zane, your partner is… Catreece.” Zane and Catreece looked at each other for the first time eye-to-eye and blushed a really nice shade of pink. “Remember, this is worth half of your grade. Class dismissed.”

 

After class…

 

“Wonder what's with Zane. He barely ever blushes.” Bastion said.

 

“I wonder what's with Catreece. The only time she ever blushes is when she is totally hitting on a guy.” Hotaru said.

 

“I wonder that Catreece girl is.” Syrus said.

 

“I hear that she is supposed to be Zane's new roommate.” Alexis said.

 

“But I wonder why he would blush unless… Nah couldn't be possible.” Jaden said.

 

“What couldn't be possible?” A voice belonging to Zane said as Bastion, Layla, Syrus, Hotaru, Alexis and Jaden turned to see Zane and Catreece behind them.

 

“About why you were blushing. Frankly, as your little brother, I have never seen you blush like that unless you really were in love like that time you fell for…” Syrus started but stopped as soon as Zane gave him his Syrus-not-now-or-here face.

 

“So this is your brother. He looks just the same in the picture.” Catreece said looking at Syrus.

 

“Hi, I'm Jaden. And this is Alexis, Syrus and Bastion.” Jaden said introducing everyone.

 

“You're Bastion? Layla told me about you. Bastion is rooming with Layla.” Catreece said.

 

“Let me just ask you, how could you get a duel with Kaiba?” asked Bastion, trying to change the subject.

 

“Yeah. He has like a tight schedule and he only duels Yugi Moto to prove he can beat.” Syrus added.

 

“Well, he sort of invited us. I mean, we really didn't duel him. If you go to my dorm and look at the picture frame by my bed, it might show a picture of him in it.” Catreece replied.

 

“What do you mean by `he invited you' and `it might show a picture of him in it'?” Bastion asked.

 

“Long story short, happened to meet him at a dance at my school and we became friends along with another famous duelist like Yugi Moto. He said we can come here to help me after that `accident'.” Catreece replied but sighed after she said that last sentence.

 

“Why? What happened?” Jaden asked.

 

“I don't want to talk about it. When I said it might show a picture of him, I meant that it is like a scrapbook that changes every five minutes. So how about a duel, Jaden? Zane and me verse you and Alexis? It'll help us with the project.” Catreece said.

 

“I never back down from a challenge. Get your game on.” Jaden said.

 

“Alright.” Zane and Alexis said as Bastion, Layla, Hotaru and Syrus sat to watch. //20 minutes later//

 

“Wow, that was an amazing duel. You two are an unbeatable team.” Jaden said after he and Alexis lost to Zane and Catreece.

 

“You were great, too. I hope we can duel again some time.” Catreece said.

 

“Well, I guess it's time to get to dinner. So long guys.” Syrus said as he, Jaden, Bastion, Alexis, Layla, Hotaru, Zane and Catreece left to their dorms.

 

Zane and Catreece's dorm room…

 

Zane was finishing brushing his teeth while Catreece was getting into her nightgown (Like Layla's nightgown from Winx Club, but bright blue instead white. And also, Zane sleeps in only his boxers). When he got out and saw Catreece standing by the window looking at the moon, he joined her by her side and whispered into her ear, “It's getting late. You should get to bed.”

 

“I was just remembering my old boyfriend. I miss him so much. After that accident, I haven't been like my old self. But now, let me just brush my teeth.” Catreece replied in the same volume as Zane and went to the bathroom. Zane sat down on his bed looking at the picture with Catreece with five other girls (They're Ichigo, Mint, Lettuce, Pudding and Zakuro) as it then changed into Catreece with a man with black hair and golden, cat-like eyes. “That's my father if you're wondering.” Catreece said as she came out of the bathroom and walked to her bed.

 

“Catreece, what was that `accident' that happened to your boyfriend?” Zane asked.

 

“He wasn't only my boyfriend. He was my fiancé and we were to be married, but a man that hated him so much killed him on our wedding day. Where I come from, girls like me marry at either age 15 to 17. I was so upset when he plunged that knife into his heart and killed him in five minutes solid. After that, I have been so upset and haven't been right. When Kaiba offered this to us, we accepted. Layla and Hotaru are my best friends and he allowed it.” Catreece says and starts to cry. Zane gets up and holds her as she cry into his shoulder.

 

“I'm sorry I asked. If it was something like that, you didn't have to tell me if this would happen.” Zane said as she fell asleep in his arms. He blushes and thinks to himself as he lets go of her. As he went to bed, the only thing he was thinking about was his newfound feelings for this girl - love.

 

In Bastion and Layla's room...

 

Bastion was getting ready for bed. Layla was reading a book. “What book is that?”

 

“It's one of my textbooks for my old school. After this year, I'll be going back along with Catreece and Hotaru.”

 

“What's your school like?”

 

“Well, we always have many classes and I forget some of them, but Flora can remember all of them. Flora's a good friend of mine. We also have many dances with the boys at a school near us.”

 

“Do you... Have a boyfriend there?”

 

“Yeah. I'm sorry. I know that if I wasn't with a guy, you could probably ask me to a dance. But what I'm worried about is Hotaru's boyfriend, Brad.”

 

“What's wrong with him?”

 

“I think that he's only using her. Sometimes when he gets really angry with her, he abuses her. Not sexually, but in another way,” Layla sighs, “Whenever I see them, he's always making Hotaru uncomfortable. I personally hope she dumps him.”

 

“Oh. I see. What do you do for fun?”

 

“I like to dance. Last year, I won the Miss Dance Off contest for my school. What are your hobbies?”

 

“I spend my time calculating on decks. I have a fire deck, a water deck, earth, air, light and dark deck. Well, I'm tired. Goodnight.”
