A/N: Flames welcome. We need some way to keep our homes warm. This is a joint production of DrewB1442 and Oz. The matches were drawn randomly and winners were picked with the flip of a coin.

They opened their eyes and took a look around them. They were in a room that resembled the inside of a ship. The walls were a gleaming iron-like grey with the floors and ceilings a matching color. The only major feature in this room was a white marble stage a meter off the floor in the center of the room.

“Welcome to the Tournament of Heroes. I am the announcer, Mr. S. All of you are heroes on your own worlds. Thus tournament will test you not only physically, but mentally as well. Take the next few minutes to prepare yourselves, the first round starts soon.”

Before long some cliques had been formed. Mostly, the people of similar backgrounds grouped together. The princesses gathered to talk (and boast) about their respective kingdoms, and so on.

A note on the wall said, 'The rules are simple:

Rule number one: No lethal techniques.
*
Rule number two: No invincibility techniques
*
Rule number three: Victory is determined by one of several conditions: Submiting, meaning that your oppononent gives up. Knockdown for more than ten seconds, full knockout, or a ringout, which means that your opponent is knocked out of the ring.

A few minutes later

“First round pairings are up!” Mr. S said over the sound system.
“First up are Chun-Li and Blazer. Take your places!” said Mr. S.
*
The fighters stood facing each other, Chun-Li in her blue qipao, Blazer in a solid black suit. Chun-Li started the fight with a series of punches and kicks that Blazer was barely able to block. She ended the assault with a back flip to her original position. Blazer then drew his sword and sent a volley of blows towards the lovely fighter. Chun-Li then said, “Kikoken,” and launched a ball of energy towards Blazer. The young man said, “Earth Shield,” just before a wall of ground came up just blocking the attack. Chun-Li only had several seconds to look before Blazer said, “Ground Runner,” as he stuck his sword into the ground, and a wave came from where the sword had pierced, Chun-Li made an attempt to block, but the attack came from below, and the young woman was knocked unconscious and out of the ring. “Winner is Blazer,” said Mr. S.

“The second match will feature Link and Cloud!” Mr. S said. “Take your positions gentleman and elf. Ready aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand GO!”

Cloud and Link ran toward each other with swords drawn. As they clashed it became clear that Cloud’s bigger sword had the advantage in a straight fight. Link looked up to Navi and motioned toward Cloud.

“How should I know anything about him? He’s from an entirely different world! All I can tell you is AVOID THE DARN SWORD!”
*
As Link was distracted, Cloud moved in close and struck Link with a Cross Slash. Link, now paralyzed, stood helpless before Cloud. As Cloud smiled evilly, Link began to fear for his life. Cloud then swung his mighty blade…….

At the last second he turned the sword to launch Link into oblivion with the flat of the blade.

“The winner of this bout is…CLOUD!” said Mr. S.
