Ouran High School Host Club Fan Fiction ❯ Difference. [HikaruxKaoru] ❯ Thoughts. ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Hikaru and I are different.
I love him, and he doesn't love me.
Of course he “loves” me, as in just plain brotherly love, they way an average person may love a best friend.
The “love” that is projected in the host club is just an act.
Sometimes I don't even see the use for it.
I don't want to please girls; I only want to please Hikaru.
That is one of our differences.
He wants to please girls, and make them happy; I just want Hikaru to be happy, and he doesn't think of me like that.
Hikaru and I always have the same thoughts.
So its like I can read him, and I know how he feels.
Hikaru isn't as deep of a thinker as me.
He just thinks we are exactly the same.
He annoys me sometimes.
Like when he compliments me for instance, he is only complimenting himself.
He also has a memory which I can entitle one word; baka.
Some of our most precious memories, he doesn't recall.
It makes me feel as if he doesn't even care.
He probably doesn't.
Sometimes it makes me wonder if-
“Kaoru!” I snap out of my thoughts with the sound of Hikaru's voice.
“Huuuuh?” I say slowly.
“What is wrong with you today?” He asks, “Ever since we left the host club today, you've been staring at me and saying nothing.”
“Hm?” I question, “I guess I wasn't paying attention…”
“Well of course you weren't! It was like you were staring right through me.”
Strange. It is odd for him to notice.
“I was just thinking” I reply.
Hikaru stares at me, I suppose to notice if I repeat my actions. I try to avoid eye contact, so he wont question me. What seems like a timeless void passes with silence.
I am reading a magazine; Hikaru is on the laptop.
“Hey, Kaoru?”
“Hm?” I do not look up.
“What?” I say, getting up, to notice that Hikaru is staring at me.
Hikaru has a look of pure and utter sadness in his eyes.
“Kaoru, did something happen to you?”
My eyes widen.
What? Hikaru is still dwelling on that subject?
“Uh, no” I reply.
Hikaru hugs me.
This surprises me.
“What are you doing, Hikaru?”
“Something is wrong isn't it?” With those words, I can tell that things aren't going to be the same.
