Outlaw Star
Gene’s new adventure.
Chapter 5-Invitation.
It had been 2 weeks since they had left Sentinel 3. They had gotten a lead that Ron McDougal was hiding in an abandoned space station. Things were certainly more bearable on the Outlaw Star now that Gene and Teresa had worked things out with each other. Gene and Teresa were actually working together now that they had agreed that Ron had to go to prison. Gene was even teaching Teresa how to work the new console on the ship’s bridge.
It was 6:00am and Gene was in the ships tiny kitchen getting something to help him sleep. As he was walking back to his room, he saw someone on the bridge. He walked in to find Teresa sitting at the main console, watching the screen for signs of activity. “Couldn’t sleep either huh?” Said Gene, walking up to the console.
“Not really. I like to watch the stars when I can’t sleep. But it feels like we’re getting closer to finding McDougal. That doesn’t help either.” Said Teresa.
“I can’t imagine that it would. I know how much it will mean to you when we catch him.”
“And it will mean a lot to you if memory serves.”
“Yeah. I owe it to Melfina to see that Ron gets what’s coming to him. Let’s just hope we catch up to him soon.”
As he looked over at Teresa, he saw that she was falling asleep. “C’mon. It’s time we went to bed.” He said, leaning down to pick her up.
But Teresa’s eyes shot open and she jumped out of the console. “What did you say?” She said.
“…Oh shit, I just realised how that sounded. Teresa, I’m so…” Started Gene.
“GENE!”
Aisha and the others ran on to the bridge. “Gene, we’re coming up on Planet Tenrei!” Yelled Aisha.
“The hot tub…I mean, hot springs planet?” Said Gene.
“Yeah. And we got a message from the planet!” Said Jim.
“Well, let’s hear it!”
They sat down and Jim turned it on. “Welcome travellers. I have been asked by my superiors to extend an invitation to you for a free weekend in one of our fabulous hot springs resorts. We will be expecting you’re arrival within the hour.” Said the overly happy sales woman.
The others just stared blankly at the screen, while Gene was think of his last visit to the hot springs planet. “What do you think guys?” Asked Jim.
“It seems a little coincidental that we get this invitation so close to the co-ordinates of the space station.” Said Suzuka.
“I agree, it’s all a little convenient. I say we ignore this and keep going…” Started Teresa.
But then she was pushed off the console by Gene. “Everyone get dressed and into their places! Planet Tenrei, here we come!” He yelled.
The others just looked on but Teresa was fuming. She got up to give Gene an earful when Suzuka grabbed her arm. “Don’t bother, there’s no point in fighting with him when he’s got women on the brain.” She said.
“Well at least we know he’s back to normal.” Hissed Teresa.
Teresa went to get dressed while the others got into their consoles as Gene began speeding towards the planet.
~~~Meanwhile, on Planet Tenrei.~~~
“Did you send the invitation?” Someone asked.
“Yes sir. They should have received it by now.” The woman answered.
“Good. If I know Gene Starwind, he’s already on his way. See to it that they get the best resort on the planet. And make sure he and Teresa are together when I meet them again.”
“Sir. I’ll have the rooms prepared and the co-ordinates sent to them immediately. Is there anything else Mr. MacDougal?”
“No, that will be all for now. Just make sure everything is ready.”
The woman left to do his bidding. “Everything is going according to plan. Soon, we will have our revenge Harry.” Said Ron McDougall.
