Outlaw Star
Gene’s new adventure.
Chapter 7-Escape to the Outlaw Star.
“Jim! Do you read!?”
Jim raised his hand to his ear. “Gene? What is it?” He asked.
“Get out of there now! It’s a trap! MacDougall’s here!” Yelled Gene.
“What?! Where are you?”
“Still next door. MacDougall’s locked us in. Get back to the Outlaw Star now. If we’re not there in 30 minutes, leave without us!”
“But Gene…”
“You heard me! Get out of there now!”
Jim jumped up to see Aisha and Suzuka already to go. “Let’s move, before they come for us.” Said Suzuka.
“But what about Gene and Teresa?” Asked Aisha.
“Yeah, we can’t just leave them!” Said Jim.
Suzuka took out to oncoming guards. “We have our orders from the captain! We leave now! If I’m right, MacDougall may already be heading to the XGP!” Shouted Suzuka.
With a brief hesitation, Jim and Aisha followed Suzuka as they ran as fast as they could to the spaceport.

Teresa knocked out the 2 guards as Gene fired more bullets at the wooden walls. “I don’t know what’s wrong. I should be able to blast through these walls.” Hissed Gene, as he smacked the wall with his fist.
But he soon regretted it as a shooting pain shot through his fist. He grabbed it in pain as Teresa came over to inspect the wall. “Looks like we were fooled worse than we thought. MacDougall prepared for every aspect, including us blasting at the wall. It’s a strong metal alloy that’s been covered to look like wood.” Said Teresa.
“So, how do we get out?” Hissed Gene, still rubbing his hand.
“Where’s your caster?”
“Right here. With a couple of shells.”
“So, you didn’t feel right about this either.”
“Of course not. Besides, Caster guns are valuable, anyone could’ve just waltz into our room and taken it.”
“Including someone like MacDougall.”
“He has his own Caster, but it would surprise me if he wanted another one. Especially mine…”
Gene stopped abruptly. “What is it?” Asked Teresa.
“The woman I love, my caster. I just figured out what MacDougall’s been trying to do.” Said Gene.
“What?”
“Everything I give a damn about, he wants to destroy. The one of the big things in my life are…”
“The XGP and the guys! Gene, we have to warn them not to go near the ship. Who knows what MacDougall might have done.”
“Way ahead of you babe. Gilliam, come in Gilliam.”
“Yes Gene, what is it?” Asked Gilliam.
“I need you to run a diagnostics check fast. Check that nothing has happened to the ship. Send the findings to Jim.” Said Gene.
“Right away.”
Gene turned to Teresa. “So, what do we do now?” He asked.
“Well, I’m not waiting around for MacDougall to come and do god knows what to us. Use the no. 10 shell, see what happens.” Said Teresa, getting out of the way.
Gene loaded the Caster and fired. It hit the wall dead on. When the smoke cleared, the was a huge hole in the wall. Gene grabbed Teresa’s hand and they ran through it. They made their way to the Outlaw Star’s hanger but they hid behind a wall as they saw Ron MacDougall and a few of his flunkies heading towards the ship. “Once we plant that bomb and kill off the crew, my revenge against Gene Starwind will almost be complete. We’ll let him get a little closer to Teresa before I finish her off.” He said.
Teresa clutched Gene’s hand a little harder. Gene looked her and whispered. “I won’t let him hurt you. But we know now that he hasn’t planted any bomb just yet. We need to sneak past them and get on board the ship.”
Teresa nodded as they ran to the other side of the landing dock. “Gene, are you there?”
“Jim. Are you and the others OK?” Asked Gene.
“Yeah, but we can see Ron MacDougall heading this way. Where are you?”
“We’re on our way, we just need to create a distraction so you guys can start powering up the ship. We’ll be there as soon as we can.”
Gene stopped and looked around the wall, to see they’d overtaken MacDougall. He moved back as he saw Teresa loading her gun. He loaded a shell into his caster. “Teresa, when we get off this planet, remind me to apologise to you.” Whispered Gene.
“For what?” Asked Teresa.
“For not listening to you.”
Teresa took his hand in hers. “There’s nothing to apologise for. We’ll call this a learning experience.” She said.
Gene nodded. “What shell is that?” She asked.
“A special one I’ve been saving for MacDougall. A number 4. But when I fire it, we run. It should keep them busy long enough for us to make it to the ship entrance.” Said Gene.
He took her hand again. “Ready?” He asked.
“Yeah.” She answered holding up her gun.
They ran out in front of MacDougall. Teresa fired her gun at them as they ran for the elevator. Teresa ran in while Gene stopped and fired the caster. The black hole was fired from the gun and Gene ran on to the elevator. Teresa started it up and they began moving up.
The tiny black hole moved towards Ron MacDougall. Ron grabbed the flunky holding the bomb and pushed him in front of it, grabbing the bomb from him. The man screamed as the black hole sucked him in. An electrical surge fired from the tiny orb and went straight after Gene.
Gene yelled as the bolt sucked away his life-force. “GENE!” Yelled Teresa.
They had reached the top and Teresa hauled Gene up and began dragging him backwards towards the ships entrance. “Guys, Gene’s hurt. I need help to get him in there.” Cried Teresa.
A few moments later, Aisha ran out of the ship and grabbed Gene and threw him over her shoulder.. They ran back into the ship as it began taking off. Below them, Ron was seething in anger for not brining his bazooka. “No matter, the tracking device should still be on that ship. I’ll just use the tracker in the Shangri-La to follow them.” He thought.
He picked up the bomb and walked off towards his on ship hanger. “I need to find out where he got those caster shells from.” He said to himself.
