Chapter 7: Look At Me

Days had passed since that night. Momo seemed to be going out of her way to avoid Kiley. She seemed to cling to Toji for dear life.

`Why is she doing this? Don't I mean anything to her?' Kiley would wonder as he watched her from a distance down the hall.

Although he didn't see it she was watching him back. `Oh Kiley, I love you.' She thought as she saw that look of pain on his face. `I just need a little more time.'

A few more days had passed and Kiley found Momo walking alone in a park. "What luck to find you here." He yelled to her.

Momo turned to him a bit startled. "Kiley what are you doing here?"

"Well I was just walking around thinking about stuff and I just so happened to see you. And you?" He smiled.

"Oh me to. Well I mean I was thinking." She was looking at the ground.

Kiley moved closer to her and wrapped his arms around her. He lowered his lips to her ear. "Why have you been avoiding me my love?"

"I'm afraid of you." Her voice was trembling.

Kiley was shocked. "Me? Why? I would never hurt you. You know that don't you?"

"I know that. But I'm afraid of things going to far. I'm afraid if I talk to you in the hall I'll end up kissing you and holding you." She was upset.

"Why don't you?" He looked her in the eyes. "Momo do you want to be with me?"

"Yes." She said.

"Then do it." He said.

"I can't right now Kiley. Please understand I need more time." Momo looked at him and leaned to kiss him. Kiley would not kiss her back. He was crying.

"No Momo. I can't do this. It hurts me so much that you come to me and tease me like this. When we are alone you touch me and kiss me. You tell me you love me. But if you really did you would break up with you boyfriend. I can't do this anymore. Not until you break up with Toji and are truly mine." He turned from her.

"Kiley please I'm sorry." She started to say. But he ran from her sobbing. `I can't believe I did that to Kiley.'

Hours had passed and he would not return her phone calls. She left message after message on his answering machine. It wasn't until she began to cry that he picked up.

"Hello." He said in a low voice.

"Hi Kiley. I need to talk to you. Can I come over?" She asked.

There was a long pause. "If you want to. You know I can't tell you no." He answered.

"Alright I'll be over as soon as I can. Where do you live?" She had never been to his house before. He gave her the address and she was on her way.

It didn't take long for her to get there. She was so very nervous when she knocked on his door. He answered dressed very casually in a t-shirt and jeans.

He motioned for her to come inside so she did without hesitation. "Are you hungry?" He asked her.

"A little." She said shyly.

"I could make you something if you like." He smiled at her.

"That would be very nice of you. Thank you." She said.

It was only macaroni and cheese but just the fact that Kiley had made it for her made it the most magnificent thing she had ever had.

The two sat at the kitchen table together. Kiley had lit a small candle and placed it in the middle of the table.

Momo gazed into Kiley's eyes. `This is the most romantic meal I have ever had.'

"Why haven't you broken up with him yet? Do you even want to?" Kiley finally asked.

"I want to yes. But I feel guilty for it. I don't want to hurt him. I guess I tend to put other peoples happiness before my own." She said.

"And you don't think that by cheating on him with me won't hurt him?" He said.

"No I know it will. But I never meant for it to be like this. I thought I could control my feelings. But I can't. And for a while I wasn't sure who I wanted to be with." She said.

"Well who do you want to be with? Him or Me Momo?" He asked leaning towards her.

Momo thought for a moment. Then she stood up and walked over to Kiley and leaned down to kiss him. "Let me show you my love." She whispered into his ear.
