Chapter 3- A trip down memory lane

Three months passed with nothing much happening other than the Shichinintai was getting assignments once in a while. Renkotsu was now 3 months pregnant and was starting to show a little bit but not as much as Bankotsu did b/c he was taller and a larger man as well.

Renkotsu sighed as he looked as his body in the mirror. He was definitely bigger maybe not much.

“Now what do I do? I shouldn't wear my armor b/c it might choke the child growing inside of me…”

Renkotsu looked at himself and shook his head. “SNAP OUT OF IT!!!!! The way you are acting you are beginning to sound like you care about this child..But..what if Bankotsu was right? What if I am beginning to warm up to the idea of being pregnant?”

Renkotsu sighed as he left his armor off but he put his gloves on and shoes on. He then loosened his sash on his clothing and walked out of the room.

Ginkotsu and Suikotsu were the only two people in the house for the moment. The rest of the group had either gone to town or was out for a walk.

“Hey Renkotsu..how are you doing today?” Suikotsu said as Renkotsu sat down next to them.

Renkotsu looked at Suikotsu. “ I am fine..”

Ginkotsu chuckled. “Someone is gaining weight….”

Renkotsu growled at him. “I am not Ginkotsu..”
Suikotsu grinned. “What ever…what do you call this then?” Suikotsu reached over and patted Renkotsu's rounder stomach.

Renkotsu blushed. “Ok..maybe a little…”

Ginkotsu smiled. “So have you got used to the idea of being pregnant yet?”

“Do I have to answer that question? Of course not!!!”
“Well…why don't you have your armor on if you do not care then?” Ginkotsu asked.

“SHUT IT GINKOTSU!!! I just did not want to wear it today..”
Suikotsu rolled his eyes. “Bull on that….he is caring about that child……”

Renkotsu looked at his two buddies looking at him with the aww look in their eyes. He sweatdropped. “Don't get any ideas! I am not happy about having a child one little bit!!” He then walked over to the kitchen and got him so water.

Ginkotsu had to smile (well tried to anyway) when he seen Renkotsu was larger with child. “Renkotsu..open your heart for once in your life and let the idea sink of having a child sink in..”

Renkotsu looked back at his lover. “WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!?!?!”
Ginkotsu shook his head and said,” You are just so cute Renkotsu..”

Renkotsu blushed and then said,” I am not! I am fat!!!”
Ginkotsu smiled and walked over to where Renkotsu was at. He put his arms around him. “I love you just the way that you are …if you are pregnant…”

Renkotsu touched Ginkotsu face. “Thank you..”

“Don't mention it..you know..you have been cooped up in this house for a while…maybe we should take a walk or do something…”

Renkotsu looked at Suikotsu. “As long as its alright with Suikotsu…”

Suikotsu nodded. “It is but make sure you watch out for him Ginkotsu…..”
“I will Suikotsu …I promise..” Ginkotsu said as him and Renkotsu walked out the door and closed it.

Suikotsu sighed and took one of medical books and began reading on it. “Finally some peace…this world gets weirder and weirder…”

Renkotsu sighed as him and Ginkotsu walked down the road. “So Ginkotsu….where are you taking me?”
Ginkotsu looked at him. “Just wait and see…”

Renkotsu looked at his large friend funny as Ginkotsu led the way down the hill and into the forest.

“Uh..Ginkotsu? The town is back that way…” Renkotsu said.

Ginkotsu shook his head. “We are not going into town…I am taking you somewhere else..”
The couple walked for a good 10 miles or so until Ginkotsu came to the place.

Renkotsu looked at it in shock. It was the place where they had first met when they were little boys.

Renkotsu turned back to Ginkotsu in shock. “You..you…brought me back home?”
Ginkotsu nodded and said,” GSH! Yep!”

Renkotsu looked around and then he saw the tree that him and his mother planted all those years ago.

Renkotsu touched the tree.

FLASHBACK

“Renkotsu..where should we put the tree at?” His mother said as they looked around the temple for a place to put it.

“Umm…..right there mommy!” A younger Renkotsu said as he pointed to the north end of the temple.

Chika smiled at her son as they took the tree over to the north end and planted in the corner.

“Let me tell you a story Renkotsu..” Chika said as they sat down next to the tree.

“What is the story mommy?”
“Well…a long time ago…a young warrior appeared in the Kanto Region….he was young, strong but he did not have the kind soul like everyone thought he did…instead he possessed a cold ruthless heart..”

“What happened mommy?”
“Well….one day..the young warrior stumbled across a young maiden not much younger than him and he fell in love instantly. But she was married to another man….the warrior was determined to have her so….that night..he chose to kill the man that she was married to and in the end he died at his lover's hands as well..” Chiko said as Renkotsu looked at her with shock.

“But what does that mean mommy?”

“It means that you will find love someday but you have to be careful who you choose or you could end up like the warrior in the story..he died cold and alone..don't be afraid to love Renkotsu…”

END FLASHBACK

“Don't be afraid to love…..”

Renkotsu looked back at Ginkotsu and sighed. Then he turned his attention to the tree. “Mother…..I have found my one but I am not sure that I am ready for parenthood though….I am cold and heartless just like that man in your story…I don't deserve love…”

Just then, a breeze came by and it filled Renkotsu up. He could have sworn he felt his mother's arms around him once again..

Renkotsu smiled. “Thank you mother..” He whispered.

Ginkotsu walked up to Renkotsu. “This place brings back a lot of memories huh?”
Renkotsu nodded. “Indeed it does…you remember the first time that we met?”

Ginkotsu laughed. “How could I forget?”

FLASHBACK

Young Renkotsu sighed as he gathered tomatoes from the temple garden. He did not want to be a monk but his father was head monk in the temple and as his son, he was supposed to take over the duties of the head monk.

Renkotsu sighed. “I guess that is it for the cook..” He picked up his bucket and turned to leave when he felt like there was someone standing near him. He turned back around to see a large boy about 8 years of age smirking at him.

“What do you want?” Renkotsu said as he looked at the boy.

The boy looked at him and said,” I need some tomatoes…please…my family is starving….”

Renkotsu looked at the tomatoes. He did not care that he would get into trouble…for all he cared..he could be banished…..He sighed and handed the boy some tomatoes.

The boy smiled. “Thanks my name is Ginkotsu..what is your name?”

Renkotsu looked at Ginkotsu. “Um…Renkotsu..”

Ginkotsu smiled. “Alright Renkotsu..do you want to play kickball?”
“Well..I have duties to tend to…” Renkotsu started until he seen Ginkotsu looking at him.

“Oh alright…but first….we need to give these to your family..' Renkotsu said he placed his basket down and took off with Ginkotsu toward the town.

END FLASHBACK

Renkotsu smiled. “I got a whipping that day for disobeying orders but it was worth it b/c you were my first friend….”

Ginkotsu smiled and said,” Thanks…is your parents' graves around here?”
Renkotsu nodded. “I want to go visit them…but first..I want to get some flowers from around here to place on the graves..”

Ginkotsu nodded. “We will do that…hey Renkotsu?”
“Hmm?”
“You are warming up to the idea of having this baby…I can tell..this baby is changing your attitude a lot….”

Renkotsu looked back at him. “Hmm..maybe but still…”

Ginkotsu walked up to Renkotsu. “ As what you mother used to say, Don't be afraid to love..”
Renkotsu gulped and nodded. “I won't Ginkotsu..thanks…”

Ginkotsu nodded as they went up the hill to gather flowers.

Renkotsu thought to himself as they were walking up the hill. “Ginkotsu is right..no matter how hard I try to hide it…I cannot deny the fact that I am warming up to this baby..”

Renkotsu smiled to himself as they walked up the hill.
