Meira: My second FanFic!

Yami: So?

Meira: This is sorta half written in people's POV, so it may get a little bit confusing.

Yami: So?

GLIB: Please be quiet…

Kai: Hn.

Yami: Why don't I get to start off the disclaimers?

Meira: Because you're not important…

Yami: But if I'm not important, then why am I here?

Meira: …

Yami: She's speechless.

Meira: I just don't feel like talking right now. But just say the disclaimer…

Yami: Meira doesn't own Yu-Gi-Oh! Or that weird ball.

Meira: Oh yeah… this chapter takes place a year before Yugi meets Yami.

Yami: So I'm not in it?

Meira: Yup.

~~Yugi's POV~~

"Yugi!" someone yelled from behind me. I turned around and saw Anzu running toward me. Just at the time when I didn't want to see her. But I forced myself to smile.

"Hello, Anzu-chan!" I smiled. Anzu shuddered.

"Nobody's called me that since I was seven," she remarked.

"Well, you're fifteen now," I teased.

"So are you!" Anzu snapped.

I had to get home. Grandpa said that I could practice dueling today. Besides, I wanted to get away from Jonouchi and Honda before they started picking on me again. Last time, when Anzu stood up for me, they told the whole school that I was such a coward that a girl had to stand up for me. I didn't want that to happen again.

"Listen, Anzu," I said hurriedly. "I've got to go now."

"Why?" she asked, tilting her head to one side.

"I can't talk right now!" I muttered, and took off.

"Yugi!" she called after me. But I didn't stop.

~~Kaiba's POV~~

I had watched Yugi run away from Anzu from my limo. He clearly wanted to be alone, but Anzu had to step in. Stupid idiot.

But being 15 and head of Kaiba Corp. wasn't easy. I couldn't think about things like that right now. I had a company to run and products to design.

When I got back home, Mokuba was there waiting for me.

"Seto!" he said, jumping up.

"You have a good day at school?" I asked him.

"Mm-hm," he answered. I turned and went up to my office. I had to start working.

~~Yugi's POV~~

I closed the door to the game shop. Thankfully I hadn't run into Jonouchi or Honda on my way here.

"Grandpa!" I called. "I'm home!"

I ran up the stairs to my room and dropped my backpack down.

"Yugi!" Grandpa called. "A package came for you in the mail today!"

Eager to get mail, I ran down the stairs. Laying there on the table was a small package. I grabbed it and tore it open.

In there was a circular object, a sphere. Half red, half white. A small white circle in the middle.

I stood there wondering what this was.

~~Kaiba's POV~~

"Nii-sama?" Mokuba asked, coming into my office, holding a package in his hands,

"Yes, Mokuba?" I asked, not looking up from my computer.

"This package came for you in the mail," Mokuba said, holding out the package.

"Just set it on my desk," I said, not looking.

"You'd better open it soon," Mokuba said. "It looks pretty important."

"Fine," I said, reaching for the package. I opened it to reveal a half red, half white ball. What the heck? Was this someone's idea of a joke?

"Whoa," Mokuba said, looking at the weird ball. "What is that?"

"Some lame thing," I replied, tossing it into the trash. Did I need this thing? I doubted it.

~~Yugi's POV~~

I set the ball down on my bed. I still wondered what this was. I shook my head. This was probably a joke. Maybe Anzu got one too.

I picked up the phone and dialed Anzu's number. He voice came over the phone.

"Hello?" she asked.

"Anzu?" I asked, hoping that she wasn't mad at me about running off earlier.

"Yugi?"

"Yeah."

"Did you need something?" Anzu asked. She sounded mad.

"Listen, I'm sorry about running off earlier. But I needed to do something," I pleaded. Hopefully she would understand.

"What?"

"I… um… wanted to… um… practice dueling."

"Oh."

I bit my lip. "I got this weird red and white ball in the mail. Did you get one?"

"No."

"Oh…" I said. "Bye."

-CLICK!

I sighed. First thing tomorrow, I had to apologize to Anzu.

That night, I rolled over in my bed. Why did Anzu have to be mad at me?

I looked over at the weird ball. It seemed normal, but strange. Then it started glowing. I picked it up. It opened, and a beam of red light came out of it, surrounding me.

The next thing I knew, it had sucked me in.

~~Kaiba's POV~~

I was working late, I knew that. But I had to finish the programming for my latest product, the duel disk.

I glanced up and saw the trash an glowing. What the hell?

I walked over there and looked inside. That weird red and white ball was glowing. I picked it up.

A jet of red light shot out of it, sucking me in.

Yami: You let her read them and I have to wait?

Meira: Yup.
