Is it meant to be?
Part One

It was Tuesday. A very sunny Tuesday at that and it was very breezy and warm.
Ash was travelling to the city of Crimson. He looked at Pikachu, his
only companion now besides his other pokemon and sighed. He was lonely without his
friends Brock and Misty; they had gone off to get married, and Jessi and James from
team rocket did the same. He thought about it for a while after they all left and
thought it was for the best. Besides without Misty around he wouldn't have to get
a sore throat everyday from yelling and arguing with her, and Brock wouldn't be there
giving him useless fun facts about how to raise and breed his pokemon, and of course
team rocket wouldn't be there to bother him by attempting to abduct Pikachu. But after
he had travelled without all of them for a while, he began to get lonely.
Ash looked up at a sign ahead of them. It said 'Welcome to Crimson'. He looked
past the sign and saw a small town that looked quiet and peaceful. As they entered the
town, some of the townspeople that were walking greeted Ash. He asked this one old guy
with a gray beard where the city gym was and he pointed to the biggest place in town.
"Wow!" Ash said. "It looks more like a castle than a gym." he said looking at a red and
gray palace looking place. "Well it used to be a castle. But then when the son inherited
the castle from his folks, after they died, he turned it into a gym and fighting dojo."
the old man explained. Ash nodded. "Cool." he said. "So...whats the trainer like? Do you
know what kind of pokemon he uses?" Ash asked the old man. The man nodded. "He uses mostly
grass and fire type. But there is one kind of special pokemon he uses..." he said staring
at the castle. "Really? What kind of pokemon is it?" Ash asked, still looking at the old man.
"Well..." the old man stroked his beard. "It is a moonlight type...one of the only kinds of
moonlight types there is...it's called...a Lun-Lun...it's very powerful...and his is a male.
But there is only one way to beat it. That is to get another Lun-Lun...a female Lun-Lun, and
use it's special attack 'Heartbreaker'. It's kind of like 'attract'. It makes the opposing
Lun-Lun fall in love with it and give up." (AN:Leave it to the old geezer of the town to know
the secrets of how to beat the gym leader's best pokemon) "Wow! Thanks mister...but uh...where
do I get a female Lun-Lun?" He asked. The old man continued stroking his beard as he looked at
the young boy who just turned 15 two months ago. "If I tell you...you can't tell anyone else.
Alright?" he said. Ash nodded. "Alright I promise. I won't tell anyone." the man waved his hand
indicating he wanted Ash to come closer to him. Ash did, he took a few steps closer to the man
as the man whispered in his ear, "Go to the pokemon laboratory, and go see Professor Pegasus.
Tell her that Gram sent you and tell her you want, the Lun-Lun she has." The man explained.
Ash nodded. "OK sir I will."
Ash stepped into the pokemon laboratory and looked around. It wasn't very big, and there
weren't a lot of technological things around. Then a middle aged woman with dark blue hair and green eyes
walked up to him and smiled."Hello there." She smiled. "Can I help you?" she asked. Ash nodded.
"Yes. I'm looking for professor Pegasus..." The woman smiled again. "I am professor Pegasus. What can I do for you?" she asked.
"Gram sent me. I would like to have your Lun-Lun." He explained. The woman shook her head.
"I am not going to just give it to you. I will trade for it. What do you have?" she asked. Ash
thought a moment. "I will trade you my...Noctowl for it. It's a really rare Noctowl and it's really
strong to." Ash stated. Professor Pegasus thought a moment. "Let me see this Noctowl." She said.
Ash nodded and took a pokeball off of his belt. "GO NOCTOWL!" He said as the ball released the pokemon.
Professor Pegasus examined the Noctowl. She nodded. "Alright. This hardly is enough for my rare beast
but...since I think that you would be a better caretaker for her...then...you may have her." Professor
Pegasus said. "Follow me." She said walking off into another room. Ash looked at Pikachu who
had been quietly sitting on his shoulder the whole time. Pikachu shrugged as Ash followed.
"Here." She said, handing him a pokeball. "Well wait. We didn't use a trade cable." Ash stated.
"Sorry young man. We have very little technological resources here in Crimson, and a trade cable
isn't on our list of the technological resources we have. Now. Tell your Noctowl that I will be
it's new trainer. Trust me. It will listen." Professor Pegasus ordered. Ash nodded and turned to the
bird pokemon that had followed him. "Noctowl. Professor Pegasus here is going to be your new trainer."
he said as Noctowl flew up to the professor and landed on her shoulder. "But what about the Lun-Lun?"
Ash asked. "How will it know I am it's trainer?" Ash asked. "Well, this Lun-Lun I guess you could say
is an abandoned one. She has never had a trainer and rarely comes out of her pokeball. She doesn't
like me very much. Probably because I am like a doctor. And some pokemon don't like doctors." the woman
explained. Ash nodded. "Ok. Thank you professor. Bye Noctowl." He said waving goodbye to them as he
ran out. "Now! I have a Lun-Lun. Wonder if it looks as weird as it's name..." he said. "GO Lun-Lun!"
Ash said throwing the pokeball and letting the pokemon out. The pokemon that was released looked like
a small blue kitten, not even the size of Pikachu. She had emerald green eyes and a teardrop jewel on
her forehead. Her ears were long like a rabbits and came into two pieces at the ends, just like
and Espeon's tail. She had long rabbit feet, and small kitten paws, and her tail was long and shiny.
"Wow." Ash said. "Lun..." the small pokemon said. Besides looking like a kitten. It sounded like one to.
The small pokemon looked up at Ash with a confused look. "I'm your trainer now Lun-Lun. My name is Ash."
he said as he kneeled down and scratched the small pokemon's ear. It smiled at Ash. "Well we are going
to the Pokemon Gym. To challenge the gym leader. So come on. Get back in your Pokeball." Ash ordered.
Lun-Lun gave Ash a strange look. As if saying she didn't want to go back into the pokeball. Ash nodded
in understanding. "Come on. Just as long as you don't run off." He picked the Lun-Lun up and put it on
his head. Pikachu hissed and growled. Lun-Lun whimpered and hid her eyes with her paws out of fear.
"Pikachu! Be nice!" Ash reprimanded the small yellow mouse. Pikachu stopped but he still continued to
glare at Lun-Lun as they walked to the gym.
"Here we are! Finally! The Scarlet City Gym!" Ash announced. They walked in. "HEY! I WOULD LIKE TO CHALLENGE
THE G-- WHOAH!" Ash's eyes went wide. "JESSI! JAMES! WHAT ARE YA'LL DOING HERE?!?!?!" Ash yelled in question.
"Well you little twirp. This was James' parent's castle. And it said in their will that when he got married
he got the castle. So, have you come to challenge him?" Jessi announced. "Yeah. Have you come to challenge
me with that little...WHOA! WHERE DID YOU GET THAT LUN-LUN!?!?" James demanded. "I'm not supposed to tell.
I promised." James snickered. "Well you little twirp. Just because you have a Lun-Lun. Probably a female.
Doesn't mean you will win against my Lun-Lun. I have trained it to be unstoppable. Come on. Lets have a
one on one Lun-Lun battle. Lun-Luns only and whoever's gets knocked out first is the loser." James stated.
Ash nodded. "You got it!"
Each James and Ash were standing on their own side of the arena. Ash took the Lun-Lun off of his head. "You know
how to use your special attack. 'Heartbreaker' right?" he whispered, so James wouldn't hear. The small frightened
Pokemon nodded. "Good." Ash smiled. He hugged the small pokemon and put it on the ground. It stepped inside of the
fighting arena, as a much larger Lun-Lun then itself stomped in. Ash's Lun-Lun very frightendly turned around and ran
back to Ash. "Come on."he said as he hugged the terrified pokemon. "You can do it. One special attack is all it takes.
And you win." He said. "Now go. Be brave." he said putting the small pokemon back in it's place.
"You can go first Ash." James said. "You are the challenger." Ash nodded. "GO Lun-Lun! Use 'Heartbreaker'! NOW!" Ash
yelled. All of a sudden, the small pokemon started glowing brightly. "LUN!" it yelled as it started to shapechange into
something totally different. "A human?" Ash stared in wonder. The glowing resided and in the place of the pokemon stood
a young fifteen year old girl with long dark blue hair put up in pigtails and emerald green eyes. She was wearing a pink
spaghetti strap shirt and a short pink miniskirt along with kneehigh pink boots. James and his Lun-Lun just stood there
bug-eyed. All of a sudden James' Lun-Lun fainted, and so did James. "The winner is...that little twirp! Ash Ketchum!"
Jessi growled. "He always beats us!" she screamed as she threw him a badge that looked alot like a teardrop. "YEAH! I WON!"
Ash yelled in glory. Then he heard a small sound like the mew of a kitten. "Excuse me Ash. But I believe that we won. We
worked together to win that badge." Ash looked to where the sound was coming from. It was the Lun-Lun girl. "Do you change back?"
Ash asked. The girl shook her head. "No. But I belong to you, now." (AN: Ok all you pervs out there. Don't be thinking nasty
about my g-rated sesame street type fanfic. But there will be romance later. Not big romance. But stuff like kisses and stuff.
I am not telling you anymore.) "To...me?" Ash was speechless. The girl nodded. "Do you have a name?" he asked her. "Yes. Mirai."
"Thats really pretty." Ash complimented. "It means future. Can I be your future Ash Ketchum?"
