AN- This is just a little halloween fic I've been kicking around lately. Hope you enjoy, please review as it's most appreciated.
Satoshi was officialy mortified, the halloween party would be starting in half an hour and his Mom expected him wear *that*?! He looked down at the costume laying across his bed and inwardly cringed. Would it have been too much trouble for her to pick a less cutesy costume? Neon yellow was NOT his best color. But what choice did he have? Face one brief night of humiliation or his Moms wrath? Hmmm...real hard choice there. So he slipped into the pikachu get up, zig zag tail and all. At least it was comfortable, and not wearing any clothes beneath helped a lot too. His only hope was that someone else would have a more dopey costume then him.
The doorbell rang a few minutes later, voices echoing upstairs as he padded down the hall to see who it was. It was Kasumi, he peeked around the corner to see she was wearing a realy nice dragonair costume. He was about to creep back to his room when he heard footsteps behind him on the stairs. 'Satoshi! It's time to come down and help with the guests! I've got to make the punch!' she told him, a bit frantic but smiling happily. Okay, no use lurking anymore. Best to just get it over with, right?
Down he came, bracing to hear Kasumis laughter. 'Oh! You look so cute!!!' she gushed as Satoshi felt a sinking feeling in his gut. Cute? That's not what he wanted to hear. He'd rather have heard her laugh him out of town. 'Kasumi! It's not *cute*, it's demented!! My Mom picked it out! I just want to survive this night and hopefully be able to show my face in the morning.' he hissed in her ear as his Mom let in more guests. As expected, there were plenty of adoring remarks from girls and outright howling laughter from the guys. He wondered if his cheeks were as red as pikachus?
But as more people arrived they blessedly took less notice of him so he took the oppurtunity to sneak into the kitchen for a drink. It was hotter then he thought in this thing. A 15 year old in a pikachu costume, real dignified, yeah. His real pikachu was delighted with his costume and chattered happily to him. He'd let her wear his lucky cap so she could be him. She'd thought it would be a witty idea. He had to admit, she looked totaly cute with his hat covering most of her head. He couldn't help smiling at her obvious joy. What right did he have to be upset? He should be proud to dress as his best buddy, she was.
He walked back into the party, his thirst forgotten as he mingled happily with his friends. But he failed to notice a pair of stormy blue eyes watching him intently from the shadows in the corner.....
*************************************************************** ***********
......Could he look anymore adorable? Shigeru thought to himself as he stared at Satoshi from the shadowed corner. He had to smile in appreciation of his Mothers sense of humor. She was always a genius when it came to subtle comedy. But he was doubtful Satoshi was very appreciative at the moment. He himself had chosen to wear a very dashing entei costume. All red and gold, very flashy. It was perfect for him. He hadn't planned on coming home at all anytime soon, but Satoshis Mother had left a message with every pokemon center in the region, knowing he'd have to go to one eventualy. She'd invited him to attend and he just couldn't be so rude as to decline.
But he was glad he'd come, at least it gave him another chance to gaze at Satoshi. Yes, he was in love with his long ago best friend turned rival. He'd spent years struggling with his own feelings on the matter and had finaly made peace with himself. Now that he was here, he hoped maybe they could work out some of this horrible misunderstanding. He didn't know if he'd even listen, but he had to try. It wasn't Satoshis fault, he had been the victim of his fear and insecurities all those years ago and he knew he had to make it right or regret it the rest of his natural days.
He had gone to great pains to plan his apology very carefully. Going so far as to retrieve something he'd feared was lost forever. Hopefully, Satoshi would recognize and understand the meaning behind his gesture. The plan was that he would remain silent until he presented his peace offering to him. If he recognized it then he'd know he'd have a chance. But if not......NO! Don't even entertain such thoughts. He would remember, he just had to......

Satoshi was talking around the punch bowl with some old school buddies when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning, he saw....Entei?...No, a costume of entei. But who was it behind the mask? All he could make out were the eyes, a dark, stormy kind of blue/grey. The kind that reminded him of troubled waters, and yet....something else to. 'Umm...hi, can I help you with something?' he asked, feeling a little nervouse for some reason. The entei person didn't even respond, only gestured with an elegant flourish to the back patio. The gesture totaly threw him off kilter. Who was this person? He couldn't even tell if it was a boy or girl. 'Uh..you want me to go out on the patio with you?' he asked, hoping he'd read the signs correctly. A gentle nod was the persons only reply.
He shrugged. 'Ok, then. Guess I'll be back in a few minutes guys' he told his friends who were still staring at the stranger as if he would sprout two heads. He tried to think fast, it wasn't as if he had anything to fear in his own home. Not with dozens of people just feet away. Probably just some girl wanting his number, not that he cared about girls all that much. After experiencing life on the road with Kasumi for so many years you could say he'd been scared gay. So here they were, on the patio. Now what mystery person?
He had just turned to face the masked person and tell him/her to make it fast. But the words faded on his lips at the sight before him. This stranger was down on one knee holding up an item to him that was like a blast from his past....
{ ...'I don't understand, Shigeru!! Why are you acting this way?!, a 7 year old Satoshi asked his best friend, fighting not to cry. 'Don't you get it yet, loser?! I don't want you for my best friend anymore!!' Shigeru had yelled cruely, stalking away. Satoshi ran to catch up with him and cried out in pain as Shigeru shoved him in the dirt, picking up the small toy bulbasaur he'd been carrying and hurled it in the nearby lake. 'There!! It's gone, forever! Just like our friendship! Get it now? Just leave me alone, loser. I don't ever want to see you again.' he'd said, running off to who knew where. Leaving a lost and broken little boy in his wake.....}
.....Memories came flooding back and he was shocked to find he could still cry as a tear slipped down his cheek. There it was, sitting harmlessly in this persons hands. The little toy bulbasaur he'd loved more then any other toy. Just because Shigeru had given it to him. But how had this person gotten it? It had been lost forever, hadn't it? Only he and Shigeru knew where....Oh!! His brain finaly clicked as he reached out for the toy as if in a trance. 'Shigeru.....' he whispered, tears falling freely. Could it realy be him? After all these years?
He looked up and noticed the wet tracks trailing from beneath the mask. Reaching up, he gently took it off. At last coming face to face with his haunted childhood.....
*************************************************************** *********
Shigeru allowed him to remove the mask, feeling the rightness of the action. He looked up into golden brown eyes drowning in a sea of emotion. All his fault....'I'm so sorry, Toshi...' he whispered, not trusting his own voice. 'Tell me why....' Satoshi asked or rather demanded. He deserved the truth, but it could also make the situation even worse. If that were at all possible. He stood up, going to stand at the railing to gather his thoughts and courage to come clean to his once best friend.
'For a moment I thought you didn't remember' he said, trying to find an opening. 'Not remeber? How could you think I'd ever forget that?' Satoshi said angrily, he deserved to be angry with him. 'Go on, Toshi. Tell me everything, cry, scream, hit me. Whatever you want, I wont stop you.' he offered, standing in front of him not bothering to shield himself against a possible assault. He saw how he trembled, fists clenched at his sides. For the longest time he just stood there, torn between screaming in his face or punching it in. After what seemed like forever he turned, wiping his eyes roughly.
'How dare you come here, in my own home, and expect me to forgive you!!' he yelled in my face. 'Do you have any clue the pain you put me through?' he asked, a fresh wave of tears threatening. 'Toshi...', I said calmly, gently taking his hand in mine as I began to explain, 'Let me explain, please?' He looked away but didn't object. 'When I was 6 I discovered something that shook my childish world to it's very foundation. But being a 6 year old boy I didn't recognize it for the wonderful thing that it was. I had fallen in love, Toshi....with you.' I paused, looking for some response either good or bad. Confusion was written all over his face. 'How could you know if you were in love at 6?' he asked doubtfully. 'I knew...because all I ever wanted was to be around you, talk to you, laugh with you, do everything with you. And it terrified me....
'Why?' he asked curiously. 'Because I didn't understand what I was feeling, I didn't know how to react. So I did the only thing my 6 year old mind could think of. I pushed you away, I ran away. Anything to get away from that new feeling inside me. But no matter how I tried to get away, I couldn't hide from my own heart. I know your wondering why I never came back if I realized later what I was feeling. I was ashamed, Toshi. Ashamed of how I treated you, and afraid that if I came back you wouldn't give me a chance to apologize.
But of course, I had to try. Even if you decide to hate me forever, at least I'll know I did the best I could to reach you.' I said, at last finishing what had been on my heart for years. He stepped back for a moment and looked me right in the eyes...*CRACK!!!*.....I hadn't expected the sting in that slap, though I barely flinched. I deserved it and so much more. I wanted him to come at me, to hurt me, like I'd hurt him. When I met his eyes again they were dry, a haunted look lurking in their depths. 'I'll tell you this Shigeru, I can forgive you, but forgetting wont come so easy. You hurt me too deeply to let it go so easily and you should know right now I don't trust you at all. If your realy serious about your words then you've got a lot of work to do to make good on your apology. But you listen to me Shigeru, and you'd better commit to memory every syllable.....If you EVER hurt me again like you did I can promise you you'll never see me again. I wont allow you to destroy my again.' he said in a deadly calm voice before turning on his heel and going back to the party, leaving me alone and gaping on the patio.
*************************************************************** ******
I just wanted to run up to my room, lock the door, and ball my eyes out. How dare he?! After all these years he shows up at my house, in an entei costume no less, and asks me to forgive him?? Damn him!! Damn me! But I forgave him anyway....WHY?!....he sure didn't deserve it. I should have kicked his ass to the curb. Why didn't I? And it's not because I love him!!! What the hell?! I did not just think that....I can't love him, not after.....damn....but I do....I realy do.....I realy am screwed aren't I? Since when had he started talking to himself? I know! Since a ghost from his past had shown up and turned his world upside down, that's when. Shut up already!!!!
Satoshi couldn't stand to stay at the party so he slipped upstairs as quietly as possible, to his room, locking the door and slouching down against it. 'Damn you, Shigeru...' he said to himself as he let the tears fall, silent sobs shaking his slight frame.
**************************************************
He desperately wanted to follow Satoshi upstairs but as a guest it wouldn't have been appropriate. But he couldn't let him go off so upset, though what choice did he have? Maybe giving him a little space would help. So he decided to head home early instead. It was fortunate for him Satoshi had decided to forgive him, but now it would be much more diffulcult to convince him he meant what he'd said. Not that he blamed him, he wouldn't trust himself either. He needed to talk to somone about this, to get some fresh perspective.
'Shigeru? Your home early.' his grandpa said as he walked in the back door. 'Yeah, it wasn't very fun I guess.' Shigeru answered lamely. He tossed the entei mask on the counter and sank into a kitchen chair, looking the picture of rejection. 'Something on your mind?' gramps asked casualy. He sighed wearily, running a hand through his auburn hair. 'Trying to rebuild a bridge I torched years ago.' he said sadly.
'Ahh...a thorny situation indeed.' he agreed, nodding his head sagely. Shigeru stared at the polished woodgrain of the tabletop, wondering where to go from here. 'I take it you have a plan?' Gramps asked, raisning a brow. He looked away guiltily, totaly clueless as to how to proceed. 'Shigeru, I don't usualy do this...but for your own benefit I'm going to interfere in your personal life. Now, I'm aware that your in love with Satoshi and have been since childhood.....' Gramps said, pausing at the look of shock on his grandsons face.
'Oh, come now my boy. Did you think no one noticed how you followed him around like a lost puppy? To the eyes of adults these things are glaringly obvious. But to the point, you need to find out exactly what it is he needs from you to gain his trust in you again. I don't know what it is, you'll have to find out on your own. I don't know what you did to him but by the look on your face I'd say you messed up horribly.' Gramps said, rising to go to bed.
Shigeru sat at the table alone, thinking hard to come up with anything to give him an edge with Satoshi. Why was he making it so hard for him? Okay, he could understand why. But didn't he know how much he adored him? Well...I guess after what I did to him it's enough to make anyone doubt their love. But maybe....he had a plan after all.....?

Satoshi was taking a nice stroll through Pallet, trying to put last night to rest. It had been an emotional drain he didn't need. He'd done a lot of thinking last night and had come to the conclusion that he truly did forgive Shigeru, especialy since he'd only been a child. But it still hurt...a lot. But he would get over that to, in time. The question was, did he realy want Shigeru back in his life? Did he have the time and room for a childhood friend? If he let him in he might possibly fall deeper in love with him. Did he want to risk it?....yes.
Lost in thought, he didn't notice the arcanine approaching at top speed until it was nearly on top of him. He stifled a yell of suprise as it just waited in front of him a moment before dropping a note at his feet. Satoshi picked it up and scanned it quickly....
Toshi,
This is Arky, my arcannine. He's harmless. I want to meet you at the train station asap so please ride Arky to meet me. Don't be afraid, it's very important and I think you'd agree.
That was all it said as he folded it and slipped it in his pocket. Arky knelt on all fours for him to climb on. Why not? Grabbing his bushy mane he hauled himself onto the back of the massive beast and clung for dear life as it shot off into the morning light. The station soon came into view as Arky skidded to a halt on the platform. Satoshi slid off shakily, looking for Shigeru. He soon spotted him, wearing his old traveling cloak he'd worn while journeying around Jhoto.
'Shigeru!' he hollered as he stood in line to board the train to Mossdeep. Mossdeep?! NO!!! Running franticaly he reached him and pulled him out of line just barely. 'What do you think your doing Shigeru?!' he said in a panic. 'Toshi...' he said sadly..'I'm glad you made it. 'What's going on?' Satoshi demanded angrily. 'I'm sorry Toshi, it was wrong for me to come back and hurt you even more. You would have been better off if you'd never seen me again.' he apologized, a deep regret in his cerulean eyes. 'Don't you dare walk out of my life again Shigeru! I wont let you!! If you must leave then I'll go with you, anywhere, I don't care....I just want to be with you.' Satoshi said, fighting tears yet again.
'Toshi, what are you saying?' Shigeru asked dumbly. Satoshi was breathing fast, frantic to make him stay or go with him...anything. 'You idiot!! Don't you get it?! I LOVE You Shigeru!!! I didn't realize how much until you showed up in my life again, that's when I realized I'd never stopped loving you...' Satoshi confessed, cheeks aflame as a freeing joy washed over him. All of a sudden nothing he'd done to him mattered anymore, it was in the past. The future was now! He made up his mind....
'Lets get out of here Shigeru, travel the world together. I don't care where.' he urged, pulling Shigeru gently along to the train. 'Thoshi'...Shigeru said, halting him a moment...'I need to know, are we going to be ok?' His eyes shone like stars as he reached a hand up to caress his bottome lip. 'Ask me that again after you've kissed me.' Satoshi said, looking up at him with total trust..
Shigeru swept him into a desperate embrace, his lips claiming Satoshis in an all consuming heat of long denied passion. A whimper esacaped Satoshis lips as he was lost in the wonder of their first kiss. At last, the irritating need to breathe forced them apart, both panting heavily. 'I don't need to ask..' Shigeru said, nearly dragging Satoshi onto the train, eager to get away from home and closer to each other.:o)
**********************************************************
They found their compartment easily enough, locking it securely behind them. Shigerus hands were roaming beneath his shirt, little shivers of delight making him tremble under his touch. 'Let me make love to you Toshi...' he asked, hot breath dancing on his neck. Satoshi was on fire anywhere his skin had made contact with Shigerus and barely managed a ragged 'yes' before he'd been deposited on the bed gently.
Both of their articles of clothing found their way to the floor in haste, their skin to skin contact driving Shigeru mad with desire. How he wanted to just take him now! But no...he couldn't rush this. It had to be right for both of them. 'Your so beautiful...' Shigeru said, lingering at his navel. A hot tounge flicked in and out followed by a quick gasp of suprise. 'Shigeru!' Satoshi said in suprise at the sheer pleasure he was evoking from him.
'I like my name on your lips..' Shigeru said, taking great delight in this slow form of sweet torture. 'Shigeru please!' Satoshi begged after several long minutes letting his mouth trail all over his heated flesh. 'Do you want me Toshi?' he asked innocently, rubbing his own sizable endowment with body oil. 'Yes, Shigeru...please, I need you to love me..' Satoshi whimpered as he felt a finger slide gently into his entrance.
A low moan of pleasure/pain escaped him as Shigeru lovingly prepared him for himself. He easily found his center of pleasure and purposely rubbed against it several times, bringing him half off the bed in ecstasy, a strangled yelp caught in his throat. As soon as he was satisfied that he was ready he positioned his legs over his shoulders and entered with one smooth thrust. Satoshi cried out as pain lanced through him briefly. But it soon faded as Shigeru began to move.
Slow, deliberate strokes, going deeper each time until he could take in no more. Just seeing him beneath him, whimpering and writhing like that drove his last vestiges of control away. 'Toshi...love you so much...' he panted as he gripped his hips tightly, taking him hard and fast as his need mounted. Satoshi was crying out with each thrust, the pleasure building deep within him until at last a helpless scream was torn from his lips, the evidence of his pleasure all over himself.
That was more then enough to drive Shigeru over the edge as he gave several more brutal thrusts before releasing deep within the body of his spent lover. Collapsing on top of Satoshi he pulled him into his arms as they both came back down to earth slowly. 'Shigeru...where are we going?' he asked after awhile. 'I don't care realy, as long as we're together nothing else matters.' Shigeru told him sleepily, at last at peace with himself and the one he'd never stopped loving. 'I love you Toshi..' he whispered before drifting off, a serene smile on his lips.
~ The End~
