PROLOGUE: THE STORY SO FAR

Four years after Ash Ketchum began his quest Team Rocket attempted to take over Pokemon HQ and use it as their new headquarters. Ash and his friends tried to prevent Team Rocket's plans from becoming a reality and they succeeded but Brock and Prof. Oak were killed in the process. The police tried to raid Team Rocket's old base and destroy the group once and for all. Unfortunately they were all killed and Team Rocket declared war on Pokemon island. A five year long war followed in which almost every town on Pokemon island was destroyed. Only Ash survived the war but he is now missing. Instead a new group of three heroes emerge from the ashes, ready to do battle against Team Rocket and save the world…

CHAPTER ONE: THE AMBUSH

Steven awoke suddenly when he heard the sound. He was fully alert even at, he looked over to the desk to check the time on the clock, 1:32am. Mostly because of all of the computer games he had played before the war. Rather than an "unhealthy obsession" as Adam had once called it, it had actually helped him. He pretended to be asleep as the sound became louder. The sound was of heavy footsteps approaching. Rhydon maybe? Suddenly the door collapsed and the Pokemon entered. Steven didn't see which one because he was facing the other way but he still knew its every movement. He waited till it was only two feet away from him then suddenly rolled around hitting it in the head. He got a brief glimpse of a large, rocky type Pokemon. It was a Rhydon. Because its body was made of stone it was tough and even thought Steven was an excellent street fighter, the blow only confused the Pokemon and only because it was unexpected. Taking the momentary confusion as an advantage, Steven reached for the only thing that would really be able to bring down the massive Pokemon he had just surprised. Grabbing a Poke Ball from the shelf above his head he shouted out: "go!" and throw the ball towards the ground. His Alakazam came out.

"Go: physic wall." A beam of purple energy hit the still recovering Rhydon and it fell to the floor with a crash.

"Take that" Steven said to the Rhydon and then to his Pokemon: "nice work."

"Wake up" Steven said, leaning over Adam, who was in a bed in the next room. Adam groaned and rolled over to look at Steven.

"What is it?" he asked sleepily.

"I've just had a warning from Team Rocket. A Rhydon. Its time to move. They've found us again."

"If that's what they call a warning...

I'll tell Jason."

"Ok."

"Jason it's time to move. The Rocket's have found us again.

"Oh..."

A few minutes later they were all standing outside the now abandoned house they had "borrowed" for the last three days. The owners were dead after all. Why shouldn't someone who needs it use it?

"Let's get going. Again" said Jason with particular emphasis on the last word. As they moved out a watcher on the roof said into his mobile phone: "They're moving out." He wore the black uniform with a red "R" printed on the chest of Team Rocket. He had just started an ambush.

The house was in a narrow street just above a square with four entrances, two leading up and two that lead in to side streets on the same level as the square. A group of ten Team Rocket members were waiting on foot in the square and ten members were waiting in a Rocket Troop Carrier down one of the side streets. There was also a tank at the top of the stairs which Adam, Steven and Jason weren't heading too. As soon as they started down the unoccupied steps the troops waiting in the square opened fire.

"Shit" Jason swore.

"I don't think we should use our Pokemon in this situation" Steven suggested and the others agreed, although not verbally. Adam, Steven and Jason hid behind the walls of the passageway leading to the stairs in a ring, with Steven on the left, Jason on the right and Adam between and behind them. He would do the lead firing with the other two acting as his protection. He hadn't spotted the tank or the Rocket Troop Carrier, a small truck with the familiar R of Team Rocket painted on it, because of the angle he hadn't got a chance to face yet. Bullets flew everywhere but Steven and Jason and Adam did their jobs well and soon the score was one-nil as Adam liked to call it. He knew it was a cold way to describe ten bodies lying on the floor with a river of blood around them but he had to be cold. It kept him alive. At a hand signal Adam, Steven and Jason moved forward. Suddenly they were facing Rocket soldiers again and they know knew about the tank. It was time for a different manoeuvre. Three incidents following almost exactly the same pattern had happened since the war but they still needed to be spontaneous because the surroundings had been different each time.

"Adam go for the troops, Jason go for the Troop Carrier and I'll go for the tank" Steven said. Adam moved to Jason's previous position whilst Jason and Steven ran forwards and then separated, firing as they moved with Adam giving them cover through continues fire. Pulling a grande from the bag he was carrying, Jason threw it towards the Troop Carrier which then exploded. To give the Rockets targets from all sides he crouched behind a wall and began giving cover for Steven, who had the hardest job.

With the Rockets, now reduced to five, momentarily confused with the two front war they were now facing, Steven had the Rockets off his back for a few moments and hopefully more if the Rockets were as stupid as he thought.

"Come on. Fire at me" Steven said to the tank, or to be more accurate its driver, whilst studying the vehicle and going over various strategies in his mind. Even a grenade wouldn't get through the tanks armour. The only way to destroy it was to get in. He heard gun fire from behind him but realised that it was directed at Adam and Jason. How could he get inside it?

Then he had an idea. "Come here you bastard. Anyone with a tank can get me but I wouldn't mind showing you how to deal with people in a fare fight." It didn't work. Maybe there was another venerable place on the tank. He looked behind him. The tank must be about to fire he thought and there were now twenty bodies lying on the ground. Making a quick decision, he flung himself down to the ground at the bottom of the steps. It worked. The tank moved forwards and as its wheels and underbelly moved into air Steven throw a bomb towards the step it was about to touch. He had a lot longer now. He had aimed and used the weapon within about three seconds and he now had ten. He ran up towards Adam's position. The tank exploded behind him. Area clear.

CHAPTER TWO: THE OTHER SIDE

After most of Pokemon island's population had been wiped out, Team Rocket now had free choice of where to have their base. They had chosen an old castle on the road between Viridian and Vermilion. Jesse and James and their Meowth had all been killed during the "Great Pokemonic War" as it was known now known to Team Rocket but a replacement had been found and Giovanni was still alive and looking at the forest outside the castle's window. The replacement for his former executives, Jesse and James, came in. The replacement was called Hans Stressman, and he had been an active member of the new Nazi party before the war. He was the ideal German super man, or Herrenvolk as the Nazis would have called him and others like him.

"How did your work go in the field?" Giovanni asked, referring to the field operation that had just cost the lives of twenty one of Team Rocket's members. The operation to destroy Adam, Jason and Steven.

"It failed. Every last solider dead" Hans replied. His boss used the "soft" tone. The more dangerous one.

"So that's sixty four members, martyrs to our cause so far? These operations you plan out really aren't going well."

"Perhaps if we were to send someone with secret information about us they might decide that they are strong enough to attack us. We might force them to attack our main base" Hand suggested. Giovanni turned to him and said: "That's the best plan you've ever come up with. I'm getting tired of these losses. I suggest you carry out the plan and at all costs don't let it fail." HIs idea of a threat.

"Yes sir."

CHAPTER THREE: I AM DAVID

It wasn't a great life but it was the only life that made sense anymore. Moving from what remained of each town to what remained of the next one, trying to find Ash. Adam, Steven and Jason believed that when they found Ash he would tell them what to do. Unfortunately they had been on his trail for four months and hadn't found him yet. At the moment they were on their way back to what was left of Pallet town so they could swim over to Cinnabar. They had stopped for a rest for a few moments. They had been walking for four hours straight.

"I don't think we're going to find Ash. Even if he's still alive he's in hiding somewhere" Jason said. It showed how much every agreed with this because no one protested. Suddenly they heard gun fire from behind them. They all turned back and when they couldn't see anything they started moving towards the sound. After a while they spotted a man in civilian cloths running away from a group of 15 Rocket soldiers. Adam, Jason and Steven dropped down on to the ground to lower visibility and began firing. The position of the Rockets and the fact that there were a lot of them made this situation more dangerous than normal. Any strategy they thought off would be risky. Apart from saving the civilian they also had sworn to kill all Rockets they came into contact with so they had to kill all of the Rockets aproaching. A few of the soldiers feel but to Adam and co's surprise the Rockets keep coming. They really wanted to capture the civilian. Also they were getting close enough to see Adam, Jason and Steven.

"I'll go forwards and behind the trees in front of the Rockets, Adam go behind the tress, Steven stay on the ground" said Jason and the others complied. They had to trust each other's judgements or they might get killed. Jason got behind a tree about twenty five yards in front of the Rockets and fired. Adam and Steven moved backwards and got into their positions and started their own wall of bullets. Another few bodies on the ground. Adam and Jason went to join Steven and the man came towards them. He looked likeable and harmless. That was why Team Rocket had chosen him.

"You saved my life. Those people have been chasing me for 15 minutes. Hi. I'm David Woodman. I've been hiding out in a log cabin for the last few weeks. They just won't rest till we're all gone."

"Why should we trust you?" Steven asked.

"No reason but I hope I can trust you because I know Team Rocket's defences at their main base but I'm not good at fighting" he replied.

"We've got to have a private discussion" said Adam, leading the others a little away from David.

"You said we shouldn't keep looking for Ash. I think we should use his information" Jason said.

"but what if he's from Team Rocket?" Steven asked.

"We'll have to take that risk." Jason.

"I agree with Jason. We said we would do a vote if we disagree over an important decision" Adam said.

"Then I'll have to agree." Steven.

"We're all agreed then" Jason asked. The others nodded.

"So: do you want my information?" David asked as they approached.

CHAPTER FOUR: FALSE INFORMATION

"Listen Steven, Jason, Adam. The leader, Giovanni, and someone else I don't recognise from the newspaper reports and TV news at the begging of the war. Unfortunately there is a guard camp on one side of the base and a massive wall on the other. You need a code to get through the wall's door which I don't have. The guard camp is a building surrounded by tents. There are sixty guards in the encampment who do shifts so they can't be caught with their guard down. You need to kill every one of them and then kill the two in the base which is a castle. You'll need better weapons than you're hand guns. I'd also suggest leaving you're Pokemon here."

"Ok. Lets do it."

David said he didn't know how to fight so he'd go back to his log cabin. The others didn't have enough time to train him. Adam armed himself with a Magnum and a shot gun, Steven with a min gun and Jason with machine gun and a Walther. They each also got several grenades and they then set off.

CHAPTER FIVE: SHOWDOWN

The guards from the guard encampment, a squat grey building surrounded by camaflarge tents, started firing as soon as they could see Adam and co and this created an impenetrable wall of bullets. The guards were arranged as a human wall, each one facing forwards and standing a few feet away from each other. Adam, Steven and Jason liked stealth and defence but it was clear that the guards were using their large numbers for direct attack rather than using the trees as coverage.

"Shit. We're never going to get through that" said Jason, hiding behind a tree. Adam and Steven did the same.

"That shit betrayed us" Adam said, referring to David Woodman.

Adam noticed something about the arrangement of the guards.

"I've got an idea. The ones on the left side are next to a huge cluster of trees. If we can use them for cover and get behind the wall then we can use the mini gun and the grenades to kill enough of them to get to the castle" Adam suggested. There was no verbal agreement, just action. From their positions, Adam Steven and Jason started firing towards the left side of the human wall, using the tress as cover as much as possible. When ten guards had fallen Steven, with the mini gun which was need to kill as many guards as possible so there was less of a risk for the others, set off. The other two kept up the fire but the bullets came close to hitting their target. About twenty of the remaining guards fired in Steven's direction whilst the rest concentrated on Adam and Jason. Steven dived as soon as he could towards the cluster, narrowly avoiding gun fire. As he hit the ground he aimed a tricky shot behind and to the left of him and throw a grenade. The grenade brought the soldiers down by thirteen, to thirty six. He was still in the middle of the cluster and the guards weren't as good shoots as he was. He waited till they decided they couldn't hit him then went forward. He hid behind the tree closest to the cluster and the guards and fired his mini gun. It took out five more with each hit and served as a distraction. Whilst the remaining guards were focused at him, Jason and Adam throw some grenades and then started running towards the cluster. Once they got there they killed the last three guards. Now Giovanni and Hans began walking towards them.

"Very good..." said Giovanni clapping "...but I'm afraid this party is over. This is Hans. Kill those bastards." Hans raised a machine gun. This was it. Probably the only chance to wipe out Team Rocket and save their lives. Jason suddenly steeped forward, rolled as Hans' gun began firing at him and fired. The shot hit Hans and he fell. Another dead body, one of one hundred and forty seven killed by Adam, Jason and Steven so far but it was no time to think about it now. Giovanni ran.

"Lets get after that multi murdering bastard" Steven shouted.

"You look on the ground floors Jason, you keep guard outside Adam and I'll check the upper rooms" said Steven as the three of them entered the castle.

Giovanni suddenly attacked Steven, revealing his hiding place behind a pillar on the stairs leading up to the battlements.

"I'm getting really sick of you" said Steven. He jumped upwards, grabbed a pillar which was opposite to Giovanni's and swung himself himself round. He hit Giovanni square in the jaw. Giovanni feel back and Steven walked towards him. Giovanni kicked him in the chest and as he fell down, Giovanni got up and wiped some of the blood of his face. He spat at Steven.

"You think you're better than me? Huh?" Giovanni sounded majourly pissed off. Steven flipped himself sideways off the floor and into his enemy and then aimed a bunch at Giovanni's neck. Giovanni hit him back in the left leg after a moment. Using Giovanni's own movement against him, Steven swung himself round after his shoulder hit a pillar from the blow's force, which drove him towards it. Giovanni fell from the kick in his leg but then used his own left right leg to hit Steven as he walked towards him. Steven was down and it looked like he wouldn't get up again. It was of course a trick. Once Giovanni was on the step behind Steven, he swung his body round and caught Giovanni off guard. As Giovanni fell, Steven pulled the hand gun from the holster on Giovanni's belt and fired twice before Giovanni's probably dead body dissapered around the corner of the circular stair case. Both bullets hit Giovanni's chest.

"Its ok" said Steven to Adam and Jason as he stepped over Giovanni's body at the bottom of the stairs.

"We've won." Although that meant one hundred and forty eight people had now paid for Giovanni's evil. Now Adam no longer had the option of needing to survive. He now had to think about it.

"Oh bugger."
