Chapter 1:

"What's she like Ash?" "Er… pretty much like you, keep up Mist" Ash said as they fought their way through the crowd. "Ash…Ash… Great where the hell did he go?" Misty yelled as she wandered around Pallet town, she did not know her way. She had never been to Pallet before and was lost in the middle of town, sure Pallet wasn't that big but she easily got lost. She didn't concentrate on where she was going… the result banging into somebody. "Sorry I didn't mean to knock you over." Misty said very embarrassed. The person looked up Misty recognised them immediately. They had chocolate brown eyes, a pokemon league hat, and a pikachu on their shoulder. But poking out of the hat just at the back was a ponytail. She knew this had to be Ashleigh.

"S'ok kid just watch it next time." The girl said and smiled. "You're Ashleigh Ketchum aren't you?" Misty said extending her hand out to help the girl up. "How did you know? Are you a copper cause if ya are I din't do it" She said with a smirk. Their hands locked and both girls fell back to the ground in pain. "OOOOOOOWWWWWW god what did you do?" Ashleigh moaned "Nothing are… are you ok" Misty said evidently still shaken. "Yeah I guess." Ashleigh said standing up and brushing off her flared jeans. She even wore similar clothes to Ash her jacket was left open and anybody looking at the girl would tell she was female by her figure.

"Where ya goin den? I'm off home my twin bro's comin' over." Ashleigh said pleased with herself. "I'm off to your house actually I'm a friend of your brother's he's gone and left me here." "You're Misty right Ash talks about you 24-7 on the phone and in letters. Sheesh I thought you'd be more… well more…" "More what" Misty cut in. "I thought you'd look more like you'd kill anyone in your path." "Is that what Ash says about me well I'll give him a taste of my mallet." Misty growled. "No that ain't what he says but it was my assumption." "Don't jump to conclusions Ashleigh." Misty laughed. The pikachu on her shoulder began talking fast in her own little language. "Oh Misty this is AJ you don't mind her, her thunder shock's worse than her bite." "It's ok I'm used to being shocked by Ash's pikachu when me and Ash are fighting."

"Here we are we're prolly gonna be in trouble me for being late and you for getting lost." Ashleigh said as she twisted the door handle. "I'm home mum." Ashleigh yelled. Ash, Brock, and Mrs. K appeared looking very worried. "Young lady where have you been we have an emergency here!" "Cool it mum if ya emergency is ya lost the red-head then ya ain't got no story." Ashleigh said stepping aside to reveal Misty stood beside her. "Misty where the hell did you go we've been looking all over for you" Ash yelled. "God Ash I'm not a baby I can take care of myself so lay off." She yelled angrily. "Yeah well who's the one who managed to get lost." "You get us lost everyday Mr. Pokemon master so don't get me started." "Touchy, touchy Miss. Sensational sister." "I don't want to be a sensational sister if it means wearing a skirt and looking pretty just so guys like you can stare at me all the time no thank you." She said angrily.

"Why would I stare at you Mist you ain't got nothing to stare at." "Shut up Ash I don't care what you say." Ashleigh, Brock and Mrs. K left the two to argue. "The only reason you say that is because you know it's true Mist. You envy that your sisters have something you'll never get, something called a life."

"I don't know what your mum was thinking when she had you, Ashleigh is cool but you… Ash I hate you." "Your mum must have been crazy to keep you she already had three beautiful daughters why would she want a scrawny little runt like you." At the mention of her mum Misty stopped she froze and didn't retaliate. Ash knew he had gone wrong somewhere but he didn't know where.

"God Mist I'm sorry you know I don't…" "You don't mean it I don't care what you meant Ash never… never ever talk about my mother in an ill manner again ya hear." She shouted and ran off.

Ash looked confused and wandered into the kitchen kind of dazed. "What happened there Ash, she hit ya with the mallet again?" Brock inquired looking at the dazed pre-teen boy. "I don't know what happened she said something and I said that her mum must have been…" "Well that's it Ash don't you see how Misty never talks about her mum did you ever think that well…" "Well what?" "Ash her mum could have abandoned them or died or anything." Brock explained to the dense boy. "Oh god Brock you're right I better go apologise." He said and as he neared the bottom of the stairs he heard something that filled him with fear. A high pitch scream he knew it was Misty.

Brock, Ashleigh and Mrs. K followed Ash up the stairs to the room Misty would be staying in. They saw her crying over the dressing table she wasn't upset she was frightened. "Are you ok Mist?" Ash questioned the terrified girl something had spooked her and spooked her good. She looked up at them her tear-stained face making her look like an upset child. It was then Ash that noticed her hair it was down but cut. It looked like a pre-schooler had cut it. It was a mess of knots and tangles and all different lengths.

Ashleigh looked dead she froze in her tracks. She gasped and said, "Where did he go Misty?" "Where did who go?" Ash asked his twin utterly oblivious to the situation. "You saw him too Ashleigh didn't you." Ashleigh just nodded. The whole room went silent Misty was the first one to speak. "God it still frightens me… Ashleigh it frightened me when I was five it still frightens me." She burst into tears again her uncontrollable sobs shaking her body. Delia frowned. "Come here Misty we'll get your hair sorted out dear. Why on earth did you cut it, it was beautiful the way it was." "I didn't cut it he did he said…" "It was to long, I heard him mum he was in the room." "THAT'S ENOUGH FROM YOU YOUNG LADY. Come on dear." Delia said ushering Misty out of the room.

*Later on. *

"Misty it looks beautiful now look in the mirror." Delia was trying to get Misty to look at her reflection in the mirror but Misty wouldn't have any part of it. Misty kept insisting it was `his fault'. "Oh please dear it looks pretty." "I DON'T WANT TO BE PRETTY I WANT TO BE ME." She yelled. "Sorry Mrs. K I'm just kind of… well I'm acting really weird lately." Misty apologised. "It's ok can you look in the mirror for me?" Delia asked her gently. Misty took the mirror from Ash's mum. Misty looked at her reflection, Her hair was a tiny bit shorter than shoulder length, and gasped she no longer saw the `total tomboy' she used to be… She saw a pretty young lady… she was ready to grow up now she was fourteen she needed to grow up sometime. It might as well be now.

"Thank… thank you Mrs. K it looks beautiful." Misty said weakly smiling at Delia. "Mum we're dying to talk to Misty." Ashleigh's voice came from the other side of the door. "Let her in please I need to speak to her." Mist said in a monotonous voice. Delia nodded and opened the kitchen door. Ashleigh came in and Delia left not saying a word. "You saw him right Ashleigh." "`Fraid so Misty who was he." "He was dead I've always been able to see dead people I guess you can now." Misty said sadly. "I don't believe in ghosts… your hair looks nice." "One you'll have to believe in ghosts now he won't be the last one you see you'll have this for the rest of your life. Two don't change the subject and three thanks Ashleigh."

"How do you know he's dead?" Misty sighed she'd had this conversation with the police when she was five, they also thought she had killed her mother. "Nobody else can see them if they're dead, Ash, Brock and your mum didn't see him so he's dead." "But in books ghosts can't hurt you or even…" "We aren't in a book it's all fiction all that stuff Ashleigh I thought they couldn't hurt you either. Then I saw my mum…" She didn't continue. "Misty are… are you ok, girl you ain't listening to me, are you ok?" "I'm fine I don't want to talk about it." Misty said icily. "Oh right well have you ever I mean have you seen a ghost hurt anybody else apart from your mum?" Misty answered immediately "Me if it's an evil ghost they know what I am, they attack me. That's why I don't like to be apart from Ash. Brock's ok but Ash will protect me no matter what." Misty said with a heavy sigh. "How do they hurt you?"

Misty pulled back her sleeve to reveal cuts bruises and a horrible burn mark on one arm. "Ouch why didn't you tell Ash?" "He won't believe me he hates me I know he does. He'll never like me properly… I mean…" "Love you?" Ashleigh said half smirking with her eyebrows raised. "Yes… but you dare tell him ghosts will be the last thing you need to worry about." She spat. "Ok, ok I won't tell him but you don't have to worry I'm sure he loves you he never shuts up about you. He was sorry he upset you earlier he was going to tell you but… The ghost came first." "One Ashleigh you're crazy he always teases me and two Ghosts are as quick as lightning you have no chance of beating them in a race." Misty countered.

The girls forgot about their worries and laughed. They laughed like any teenage girl should be she tomboy or girly girl she should have fun. She should have innocence, which is something Misty had taken away from her at an extremely young age.

A/n. Ok longer chapter here but I'm not sure if anybody is gonna like this. This is based on a real life experience I had. I have `the sight.' I really can see ghosts they don't hurt me and I don't see them all the time. Just some of the time. All ya'll sceptics out there don't say `as if there is no such thing as ghosts' because how can you be so sure. Books and TV tell you so well don't believe everything you see on TV or read in books. You need proof that of which there is none to prove there are not any ghosts but there is proof to prove the existence of them. Please R+R I want five reviews before I continue ok [some of you might see that as a blessing] but bye. [it ain't a good thing seeing ghosts]
