Spider-Ran
Chapter one

Ranma was inside the Advance Genetic Engineering building, trying to help his father
with his part-time job as a Janitor. Genma had picked up this job as it seemed like
easy money. Mainly because he got Ranma to do all of the work. They had to get
more money. How else were they going to get the money to pay for the Neko-ken.

Ranma was just getting into the room full of the experimental insect/arachinds room.
It was slightly interesting to Ranma. He like to look at the various bugs and try
practicing martial arts based on the bug's movement. Especially the spiders. That's
why he was shocked to find one of the extremely experimental arachinds in the
cages missing.

This wasn't good. The little guy could get in trouble. Hell, he and his father could
get in trouble. So little ten year old Ranma started to look all over the floor.

If he looked up, he might have been surprise to find the spider abouve him,...dropping
down on him. As it fell and landed on Ranma's neck, it decided to bite him.

Ranma screamed a little bit as the spider bite throbbed. He fainted as the bit started
to change him.

Some time later...

Genma watched as his son crawled across the ceiling. Ranma seemed to like doing that alot.
It had started after that day in the AGE labs. Genma had found the squashed body of a spider
near Ranma. His son laying unconcious. Ever since that day Ranma had been experiencing
strange abilities.

First there was the increase in Ranma's strength. He was almost as strong as Genma. Ranma
was also more agile and quick. He also seemed to develop a sixth sense to detect an attack or
danger. Plus there was the wall-crawling. Ranma seemed to have skills that he didn't have
before. He even had a skilled form of martial arts based on the movements of a spider.

Then it occured to Genma what the answer to this was...the Kumo-ken. Ranma must have
learned it from the Lab. That meant that Ranma didn't have to learn the Neko-ken. It also
meant that Genma could keep the money that he had been collecting from his last job. Genma
told Ranma to at least keep the wall craling secret and the rest as much as he could. They would
be the boy's secret weapon.

Ranma also seemed to be developing a taste for science. He had been playing with the
scientific equipment of the scientist they had been living with since they left the lab. Suddenly,
a string of sticky webbing hit Genma. Ranma was playing with the webshooter he had created
along with his webbing. It would take an hour before this came out. "Ranma!!"


Dr. Ito watched at the interaction between Genma and Ranma. It had surprised him how fast
Ranma's abilities were developing. He had heard Genma's tale of what happened to Ranma. Yet
he didn't think it was caused by Ranma suddenly learning a school of martial arts based on the
spider.

No, it had to be the AGE experiments in genetic engineering. He didn't like where this was going.
Even if he worked for the same industrial giant that was the parent company of AGE. Kuno Corp.
had many things to answer to. And not just for it's weapons technology.

But Ranma seemed to be developing a keen mind for science. He had developed his own webbing
solution. An a device to which he could shoot it. he was also absorbing all of the science that was
locked in the books that Ito held. After Ito had told him that knowledge was power. Genma didn't
like it much, but it did give the boy good grades at school.

But Ito knew that these powers and skills would make things hard on the boy, even dangerous.
Scientist would want to study the boy, even disect him. Or their could be others who would want
to harm him due to his new powers. Or his differences. He would need a disguise to hide from those
who want to harm him.

Genma had partly agreed to this with his desire to keep the "Kumo-ken" secret as a martial arts skill.
But Ranma might need a better disguise to hide his differences. For it was obvious that Ranma would
want to use his powers. 'For with great power must come great responibilty.'
