~Cause & Effect~
220;Go Vayu! Use your Slash!”, a girl with dark violet hair shouted out to the Pokemon before her. With something close to a snarl, the Charmeleon hurtled himself at his foe, a weak Geodude at least 20 levels lower. There was a sickening thud as the rock-type Pokemon smashed into the wall behind him, then fell forward.
For a tense second, nothing moved. With a sigh, the Charmeleon strode purposefully over to his opponent, and, with one razor-sharp claw, rolled him over. The state of the Geodude deemed this battle over.
The violet-haired girl jumped in the air, then she flashed a wide grin at the Charmeleon. At this, one of the two Pokemon watching the battle could not help but shift uneasily, as if wishing to spring to his feet and jump in.
With a dignified air, the one beside him turned her lavender eyes upon him. She then spoke in a voice that was playful, yet reprimanding at the same time. “Oh, Fenrir. You are a silly Umbreon indeed. You know we are way past Vayu’s level. We might kill our opponents.”
At this the Umbreon snorted then turned to face the Espeon that had spoken. “So!? Why did Celia choose to come to Kanto anyway!? These Pokemon are weaklings. Worse than Johto. I mean, in Hoenn we fought so many strong trainers! At least once a day.” His black ears laid back when he saw his sister wasn’t listening.
“Shh.”, she snapped irritably. “Let’s see what other Pokemon he has. At least one more…I wonder if Celia will be nice to the Gym Leader and let him fight someone besides Vayu.” Her furry, pink head turned back ,and she watched her trainer with baited breath.
For a second, the girl stood still in thought. Then a smile began to spread across her lips and she nodded her head, signaling she wasn’t going to change. At this, the Espeon gave a low sound of disappointment, ears drooping before pricking again with interest.
“Go! Onyx!” the Gym’s leader, Brock, shouted. At this, Vayu the Charmeleon also let a smile come across him face. He took up his battle stance one more, his clawed feet spreading apart as he centered him weight.
“Let’s get this over with, Vayu! Use Flamethrower!” The Charmeleon pulled his red head back, opening his mouth as he did so. Then his head snapped back to its original position, and red flames erupted from his mouth.
The Onyx let out what can only be described as a yell of pain as the hot tongues of fire engulfed him. His body began to pulse with heat and finally he could take it no more. He fell forward and would not move again.
The referee let down his flag and barked, “Onyx is unable to battle! Celia and her Charmeleon win!”
With that, the Espeon turned to the still sulking Umbreon and asked, “Did that take much time?” All that she received was a glare and a loud, “Hmph!” as her brother went off to congratulate Vayu.
The Espeon followed and was able to hear Celia yell on pocketing her new badge, “Onto the next city!” The Espeon smiled slightly as a breeze brushed past her in the gym. Looking up at the ceiling she commented to herself, “Two life links shall cross mine in the near future. But are they friends, or foes?

Serin padded silently through the forest, his delicate yellow paws pressing down grass as he stalked his prey. Oh yes, there were his prizes right over yonder. Their rich blue outer layer, their plumpness, they were perfect. He swallowed to keep himself from drooling. Then he attacked.
His sharp, pointy teeth latched onto the Oran berry. Then he sweat dropped when he realized he wasn’t falling back to the ground with it firmly in his jaws. Perhaps it was just stubborn. He tried to open his jaws and….No! They were stuck in the damn berry. Perfect.
He tried floundering back and forth for a bit, then felt stupid. His mouth still around the berry he began yelling. “Hey! Help! I got stuck on an….Help!” Then he stopped as he heard rustling in the bushes to his left. Thank Lugia.
A shiver ran down his spine as his brown eyes widened. A trainer stood under him looking up, her blue eyes widening in disbelief. “Poor baby.”, she muttered then pulled out a poke ball. Oh crap. Serin thought as his eyes narrowed.
She tapped the circle that connected the two halves together then threw the poke ball into the air. “C’mon out and give him a hand! Sigel!” Out of a red beam of light that spilled out of the poke ball, an Espeon materialized. Her forked tail waved elegantly and she held herself regally.
“Oi.” she said softly, sounding a bit bored. “You’re my level. That’s a surprise. I wish to battle you. But first…Confusion.” She nodded her pink head a bit and her lavender eyes began to glow. The same color surrounded him and slowly, he was pulled from the berry branch, the berry also being extracted from his mouth.
Serin rubbed his tongue across his canines, trying to rub feeling back into them. Then, remembering, he turned to face the trainer and its Espeon. “Come at me then! I don’t care! No one has ever caught me. I’m not about to let you.”
The trainer began to bark out a command then stopped. The Espeon smirked and took up a battle stance, her dainty, pink paws pressing into the grass as she balanced her weight. “Just you and me.” she whispered. “Celia doesn’t mind me fighting on my own. Makes things easier for me. Now… Swift!”
Golden stars flew out of the Espeon’s mouth and slammed into the Jolteon who had not been expecting such a quick attack. With a yelp, Serin flew backward and landed in a heap on the ground. Immediately, he sprung to his paws. Blood dripped down slowly from his right hind leg, which now had a bit of white sticking out through it.
Celia let out a strangled, choking sound, and she pulled out a Great Ball. “Go!” Suddenly, Serin found himself staring at glowing eyes. Then, he lost consciousness; the last thing he felt was a thud in his side and a bright light flashing before his eyes.
