The S.S. Anne's presence was surprising that windy afternoon in Pallet Town. It sat terrifying close to the shore as many cages filled will sleeping pokemon were loaded onto the ship. A few men stood guard with their Crobats and Weezing but no one was bothering to stop the Team Rocket grunts from pulling off their plan without a hitch. The few trainers were still able bodied by now were busy trying to put out the flames that attacked Oak's Lab and the surrounding houses. Who knew Muk sludge was so flammable?

Observing all of this from the deck of the S.S. Anne stood a young girl, her straight black hair highlighted by the deep orange of the flames as she watched the only source of light from her end of the boat. She, Florence, was by no means the mastermind behind this complex plot. But she hoped to live up to her role in this great scheme. As it was the ten year old girl was without a pokemon to her name and held in her hand a Rainbow Wing, the priceless item that was stolen from Oak's Lab a few hours earlier and was leagues and league more important than the hundred or so pokemon that were stolen as a cover up. As the flames finally began to die down two rocket grunts approached Florence on the boat. They bowed solemnly and lead her off the boat gently, through shadows that no trainers would notice, and dropped her off in the remains of Oak's lab where she hid her Rainbow Wing in her small saddle bag and rolled around in the wet soot and ash that was once a corner of the lab.

The Rocket grunts called out their Crobats and made a big deal of attacking the area around Florence all the while shouting menacing things at the girl who cowered away from them as best she could. “What a dumb brat! That’ll teach you to now interfere in Team Rocket’s schemes! We’ll burn down all of Pallet Town, even if you try to take on our pokemon without one of your own!” One grunt shouted as his crobat flung itself at the crumbling wall behind Florence, striking it with its wings.

"Dammit! Get away from her!" Yelled a trainer he noticed the grunts and ran over to protect Florence, his Ampharos sent a weak thunderbolt at the grunts, but found it was almost too tired for even that.

"Are you okay?" The trainer asked Florence as he scooped her up into his arms, watching as the grunts fled. "Did they hurt you?" He asked, concerned, while his Ampharos let out a similarly distressed sound.

"I-I'm okay I think. I ... I don't know what happened. I just came to and they were there attacking me..." Florence stuttered, invoking the lame excuse of amnesia. The trainer carried her back to Pallet Town's safe zone which now occupied the entrance of the town. A few trainers were in the area while some rangers attempted to treat the wounds of the injured pokemon, but there simply were not enough people or pokemon to fight off Team Rocket. The trainers worried over the fate of Pallet Town but it soon became clear that Team Rocket was not prepared to actually take Pallet Town. Instead a group of grunts gathered in the center of Pallet and made a loud announcement.

“How kind of you trainers and members of the Pallet Town community to donate all of these pokemon to Team Rockets great cause!” He began, as the grunts around him giggled and cackled wildly at their success. “Perhaps we will meet again? Maybe then you will be better prepared to handle Team Rocket’s ferocious might!” He finished, and he and grunts made a mad dash back to their cruise ship and fled Pallet Town. The trainers, rangers, and civilians let out great sighs of relief and already looked optimistically towards rebuilding Pallet Town to its former glory.
